- Become "River Ready Always" with good gear organization. This system was very efficient for me! Casual gear dump of the items I took for a week of fly fishing in Patagonia and how I organized most of my tackle items. There is plenty more to include like fly specifics, floatant, leader sizes, but this covers most of the essentials.

The r8 10’ 6 wt with the Sage Arbor xl 7/8 is an awesome rig. This reel balances the rod really well, in my opinion. I bought the reel and rod from Reds and their shipping to the eastern USA always amazes me. I always receive my orders from Reds Fly Shop very quickly. Thanks!!!!
Can I ask you what lines your fishing with your 10ft 6wt r8 as I have recently purchased but not fished it yet. Is it versatile enough to fish dries on big lakes
Nice pack and gear organization. It takes years for regular guys to accumulate the right gear to be so highly organized and equipped. Love the wader bag and backpack combo, it works. I’m looking at submersible packs right now to upgrade my kit. Always enjoy your content Joe, thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks Tom, appreciate the good vibes. I'm often still a mess but occasionally at the end of a trip find my stride with the right gear.
Another great video, Joe!
Thanks for watching, really appreciate it.
Great video Joe. Lots of great organizing tips for bigger trips, and handy for regular fishing.
Glad you enjoyed it, that was the idea. Patagonia is great, but it's just another fishery and no "better" than anyone's backyard. Fishing is fishing no matter where you are.
Awesome video Joe
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you!
Nice gear Sir. Id like a 6 weight to for streamers. Next rod i buy i think 😎👍
Good info; now give those flies back to your guide, Joe! 😂
That's the plan! I leave so much behind when I do these trips. I've been blessed with essentially unlimited access to gear.
Great information. Love my Fishpond water proof backpack. Don’t have any Skwala gear yet but it looks legit 👍. Any thoughts on the Simms FallRun Hybrid Hoody? Looks like they are discontinuing these.
I have one, great lightweight puffy.
👍
Sweet setup! Is that r8 a 9’ or 10’? What are some other 6 wt rods you would recommend for this type of fishing at a slightly lower price point? I’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on a 6 wt Sonic. Thanks!
That is the 9' rod, they are so much fishier with dry flies and far more accurate than a 10' rod. Regarding other rods, the SONIC is outstanding. If that's in your target price range, it's super. We do throw in a free line with Sage SONIC rods here at Red's just FYI! redsflyfishing.com/products/sage-sonic-fly-rods-fast-action
Were you able to bring all that equipment with you on the plane?
I do not, I'm a checked bag guy for the big trips. Makes navigating the airport so much easier and less stressful. Once you add waders and boots I pretty much always check a bag.
The Sage Large Arbor, in the video. 4.5.6 or 6.7.8 ?
4/5/6. Big ass arbor on that sucker. I really like that reel.
How’s the grundens boundary vs the skwalla? Be nice if you reviewed them as well 🤙
The grundens are amazing
@@iangrant9117which did you go with? How long have you had them?
@@nlrsystems I can’t remember the name. The guide ? Whichever ones are the most expensive .. I highly recommend
so many moving off Simms to Skwala...is that marketing and promotion or really a better product?
Its a lot of marketing. Skwala is made overseas but charges same as Simms pricing. Ill stick with Simms and keep my money here. If yourgoing overseas to get third world manufacturing costs then i want to pay third world retail
I jumped on Skwala due to fit and the fact I like to test new products that hit the market, I feel like that's part of my job! I'm super happy with my Skwala waders so far. Extremely breathable, and I'm bone-dry in all (3) sets.
less talking more fishing. HUGE rise off to the right @12:53
Not sure you care or not, here is the fishing from that day: czcams.com/video/rZZBlo0kHDo/video.htmlsi=h3eRDoa1-1YWkQbA
Where are your readers? I assume you are over 40, threading size 18 midge does not get easier with age. Joking aside, there are extremely affordable and useful collapsible readers named ThinOptics. They are in keychain form and hangs on my chest too.
Noted. No readers yet haha but they're coming. Can't outrun Father Time.
Expensive Yuppie Gear
It's only expensive if you don't put it to good use. Use it a lot, worth every penny.
Lol...its fun being a well paid Yuppie🤣
Great if you have a very big Budget. Never wear chest waders.
