Yes!! He's finally appeared! I won't spoil it for you, but I love the Bug Man character. He's a great villain, and much more horror villain like compared to the others who came before. I still have an action figure of the Bug Man from 2002. Oh man I get nostalgia just seeing this episode again, and seeing his entrance. He absorbs people, and takes their energy away from them as he feeds off of their bodies. It's something out of an 80s horror movie, and I love it. The Bug Man calls the combination of Kami and Piccolo "Piccolo Daimao", which means he knows who Piccolo is. That isn't really a secret though, since the original Piccolo took over the world, and so everybody in the world should recognize Piccolo. The thing that grabs your attention is the fact that the Bug Man says that he's Piccolo's brother. The Bug Man also seems to know Piccolo's Makankosappo that Piccolo used to kill Raditz and Goku, and the Kamehameha. Everybody can sense Freeza, his dad, Vegeta, Goku, and Piccolo's power within the Bug Man. That leaves so many questions left unanswered, and I love this mystery. I have a theory. Maybe the Bug Man is one of Piccolo Daimao's Mazoku henchmen from OG Dragon Ball who survived, since Goku, Tenshinhan, and the others never went after him. Piccolo Daimao probably gave him the power to absorb anyone he chooses to take. He probably trained for decades to get revenge for Piccolo Daimao when he heard that Goku had killed him. I bet the Bug Man probably absorbed Freeza, King Cold, Vegeta, Goku, Piccolo, and many others to become as strong as possible, then he stole Trunks' time machine when he was off guard. He was able to do all of that while being able to hide from Kami and Mr. Popo for decades. Heck the Artificial Humans don't even know who the Bug Man is, and Dr. Gero has been keeping watch of the strongest people alive since the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, so that's just wild to me. That's crazy that a surviving member of the Mazoku would go through all of this for revenge of his father. Kami getting assimilated into Piccolo is kinda sad, since we won't see Kami anymore. I really liked him as a character, even though he's been taking a backseat for a while now. Poor Mr. Popo now has to live on the lookout by himself, and seeing him cry his eyes out knowing that he won't be with Kami anymore is truly sad. I hope Mr. Popo can overcome that pain of loss someday. On the other hand the Artificial Humans are just messing around, and it is pretty comical to see what shenanigans they are up to now. #18 just did what every young woman would do if she had superpowers, which is to get clothes, and not have to pay. Nice. I hope the Artificial Humans aren't just swept under the rug. I know the Bug Man is very interesting, and all, but the Artificial Humans were villains who had been set up for a while now to see the good guys do something about them.
This episode marks the final appearance of Kami-Sama and while he was never my favourite character, it is not only sad but also surprising for him to be gone, permanantly. It's kind of sad to see literally God be reduced to a mere power-up for Piccolo but generally speaking he has been a pretty crappy God and has mostly been useless. This means the last time Goku sees him is briefly in DBZ episode 26 when he comes back to life and heads towards the battlefield to fight the Saiyans. There's such a great mystery being set up here with the residents of Gingertown having disappeared leaving only clothes behind, then the reveal of the big green bug man. The way he sucks the man from the inside is gross and really unsettling and his design is really creepy. He calls Piccolo.... Kami-sama.... um... he calls him "Piccolo Daimao" and also says "I am your brother". The big green bug man is emitting the ki of Piccolo, Goku, Vegeta, Freeza and Freeza's father. Only these 5 characters, no one else. The big green bug man surprises Piccolo by firing off a Mankanksappo, the move Piccolo had used against Raditz. The big green bug man talks about achieving his "Kanzentai" which means complete body or perfect body, but is usually translated as perfect form. He then shocks everyone by pulling out a Kamehameha, which shouldn't be a surprise at all as literally everyone can do it. That we've seen; Muten Roshi, Goku, Grandpa Gohan, Yamcha, K9 and Tri-eye. So why are they treating this as a Goku specific move exactly? The big green bug man is super creepy and the more that we learn about him just raises further questions. Let's see how things play out with him. Trunks note how powerful Piccolo is now he has merged wih Kami-sama which begs the question; why didn't Piccolo and Kami-sama merge in Trunks' time? No. 16 can sense ki but No. 17 and No. 18 can't for some reason. Why would Dr Gero not give them that ability? Seems really dumb if you ask me.
