    Love my Kahr cw9, by far best carry guns on the market, and has been for longer than the small 9mm craze hit few years back!!! They been doing it for years and doing it right!

      @IIDASHII Před 9 lety

      Meh. I'd agree with you if Kahr's magazine design wasn't terrible. My PM9 mags routinely have rounds work their way out in my pocket, and I know that other Kahr owners have this issue as well. Wouldn't be a huge issue, except that I live in MA, where getting caught with a stray bullet (that I missed) in my pocket, in certain areas, could cause major problems for me.

    • @GeorgeKnew
      @GeorgeKnew Před 9 lety +1

      IIDASHII kahr had some issues with their followers... they replace them for free.

    • @IIDASHII
      @IIDASHII Před 9 lety

      JJ Tucson This is not a follower issue. The issue that you are speaking of was with followers breaking. That has nothing to do with rounds falling out.

    I enjoyed this video. You're well-spoken, don't have annoying mannerisms, and you're concise without being curt.
    In addition, the wonderful lighting in your video allowed me to get a great look at the guns (i really like seeing small features like grip texture, slide beveling, chamber inscriptions, etc.)
    Subbed. :)

    I have one of each. I much prefer the Shield, since it has the newer Hi Viz sights (I'm an old geezer) and I prefer the trigger pull. I still like the Kahr, which is easier to disassemble and clean, but I don't shoot the Kahr as well as I can shoot the Shield, mainly due to my ability to manage the trigger. Great video, sorry I'm ten years late here!

      I like my kahr but it’s all preference when you’re talking about trigger pull and what not. I saw a video of someone just ragging on the kahr trigger and to me that’s a dumb reason to tell people not to buy a gun cuz they might love that trigger

    Good job. I've owned a MK40 from Kahr and currently a Glock 26 and 27. I agree with all you've said. I sold the Kahr, super nice trigger by the way, only due to the 5+1 mag and to consolidate weapon systems to all Glock since my other two carrying guns are the 23c and a 35. I can carry one mag to fit the Glocks.

    yep, here too, I just dont buy from gun shops around here anymore....I left my reasons on their webpage comments section and quite a few that agreed! Since then, some got the hint but they dont keep much of an inventory, I just go to them and order offline. I am finding that dealers in my area are getting away from selling new guns because there is really not all that much money to be made. They just do used guns and let you use their FFl for new stuff.

As a bonus my IWB Crossbreed holster fits both perfectly so no need to buy a second holster!

    I had traded my Kel-Tec P-11 for partial credit on S&W body guard. The one thing I really liked about the Keltec was that you could get that Clip that would allow you to carry without a holster. For me that clip worked extremly well and made my gun conceal better and carry more comfortably than any gun in a holster. I was saddened because I missed the ease of carrying with the clip. No other guns have clip options. Then I found the clipdraw holster it tapes to the with no messy adhesive.

    I just want to say thank you...for the video and info. I'm looking for a small CCW, and my best friend (also a retired military lady) recommended a 9mm. I'm going to the nearby indoor range where I can "try out" different weapons for a $10 fee per each...so that I can get a "what feels right for me" impression. Again, thank you for the info.

    I've owned a Kel Tec PF9, Ruger LC9, and I just got the Kahr CW9 a few weeks ago. I have to say the Kahr feels so much better IMO. While I can place my whole hand on the grip, it isn't much taller than either the Kel Tec or Ruger. It feels like a full size handgun but is still very easy to conceal. I'm impressed...and I loved my PF9. The Ruger didn't last long. Just felt too "plasticy." I have no experience with the Shield.

    I've been debating for a while about this 2 great pistols. I like both of them, my local gun shop is been running out of stock for the shield so I guess thats a positive plus. Khar is a bit more expensive here in Ilinois. However, my all time favorite is my Kimber Ultray Carry II and the S&W Bodyguard for light conceal carry, yeah yeah I know its a .380 but I use Buffalo Bore 100g w it, not a super stopping round but its all about bullet placement and double tap defensive shooting. Thanks!

  • @Crush5104
    @Crush5104 Před 12 lety

    The clip draw peals right off with no mess and it hooked up to my bodyguard frame perfect. They show alot of them installed on the slide,I don't like that because it kind of pushes the gun out of battery. It would also tape on to the frame of the Shield perfectly and make it one of the easiest to carry guns ever. I was nervous about how well the tape would hold but it has held strong for since I bought the body guard the first month they realeased, so almost a year. It is still holding strong.

They also make one for glock that mounts on with a base plate and screws which i don't have a glock to try and one for a 1911 which Screws on under grip I tried on my 5" 1911 but it moved around alot due to the wieght. They are only like $20 and worth every penny.

    I hated the trigger on the Shield so the first thing I did was install an Apex tactical trigger kit, which made a huge difference in the gun. I also own the CW9, and it is my primary carry gun even over the shield and M&P Compact 9mm. Both shoot great but the overall height at the barrel make the kahr a little easier to conceal. As far as the safety on the Shiled, you can install a small shim and lock it into the off pisition. My trigger finger is my primary safety!!!

"Rear sights are usually mounted in a dovetail on the barrel or receiver, closer to the eye of the shooter, allowing for easy visual pick-up of the notch. Front sights are mounted to the barrel by dovetailing, sweat soldering, screwing, or staking close to the muzzle, frequently on a ramp."

    I have a CW 45 that has a problem with consistently firing a cartridge. Using various factory ammo it will not detonate random rounds leaving a light mark on the primer. By loading by hand a primed empty case it will detonate the Primer each time. I have used 3 difference Kahr factory magazines with the same random results. It is an older model Kahr. I have had the trigger components replaced but have not resolved. The slide assembly is original. It was completely examined and appears to be in order. The firing pin assembly is correct and no one can find anything out of order. Random detonation still occured even with a new barrel, trigger assembly and springs. I am totally befuddled with this problem. Can anyone please advise as to what may be the cause?

    I don't think you say "I don't have a safety, I'm going to shoot myself." There are LOTS of gun experts that have accidentaly discharged a firearm through no fault of their own. If you read my post, you'll notice it was a relative scenario: it's far more likely you'll shoot yourself vs not be able to use your gun due to the safety.

      I have the P9 which is very similar to the CW9. It is a great gun, and has never given me a single problem in many years of carry. I have only dry fired the Shield and I liked the trigger. I like the Kahr trigger too. I know several people that carry the Shield and love it. With the extra mag, the shield is 50 dollars more. If I wanted the Shield, I would not let 50 dollars stand in the way. If I did not have a P9, the Shield would be on my short list. I really like the XDS9 for some reason, but it is more money. Where I am, the Shield is under 400, 389 I think.

  • @GeorgeKnew
    @GeorgeKnew Před 9 lety +3

    The Kahr P9 is a better pistol, same specs as the CW9... but if you add night sights, the price comes out to be very close (NS not available on the CW but would be around $100 installed on most pistols for mid-range quality)... and add the match grade Lothar-Walther barrel, 2nd mag and upgraded slide machining... no brainer. Mine is the Black Diamond version... love it!

    • @ethanrobbins7428
      @ethanrobbins7428 Před 6 lety

      Yeah and the P9 is significantly more expensive, like $350-400 more. The CW9 is a much better value for essentially the same firearm. Yes the P9 has better barrel rifling and some minor esthetic upgrades but that hardly justifies the price

  • @justgonnastay
    @justgonnastay Před 11 lety

    No, not one single person has EVER "accidentally" discharged a firearm "through no fault of their own." The term is negligent discharge, not accidental discharge.
    As to the "relative scenario," every person who has been in a live fire situation says the difference between that and just practice is worlds apart. Your reactions are totally different and you never know how. It is actually not uncommon to forget to switch off a safety. The best safety on any gun is between the shooter's ears.

    Great review, as always. Thanks. I'd love a review of the Walther PK380 vs the M&P Shield 9mm. I love my wife's Walther (except the safety is upside down), comfortable, shoots great, (47 rds fired, 44 hits, 1 graze, 2 close misses last wk @ range, 7 yds) conceals better than my M&P45Compact. I plan to buy a Shield for edc. She carries a M&P Bodyguard380. It's okay, but I find it harder to shoot.

    Recoil on the CW9 is a little less snappy then the M&P. CW9 fits me better.

    I have two kahrs and love them. But you have to carry condition one. Its hit or miss if they will slingshot the first round. If you wont carry that way get the shield.

      @shamitoson Před 7 lety

      Tim S that is the reason I will sell the kahr and get a shield. It's so stupid. Seriously karh? They can't get that right? Like every other gun on the planet except kahr.

    • @onmydignal
      @onmydignal Před 7 lety +1

      @Tim S & @shamitoson: Kahr pistols are known to be built to close tolerances. If you know anything about guns, you want them to be tight. For that reason, some new pistols need a break-in before you can slingshot the slide to load a round. Shouldn't be a big deal since the slide release is there for that purpose -- and is quicker. So, why not use the slide release?
      Kahr pistols are designed to be safely carried in Condition Zero. What's with carrying in Condition One??? I'm not aware that Kahr installed a manual safety on any of their pistols -- unless you're in communist MA or CA???
      Condition One = round chambered, full magazine, hammer cocked, safety on.

    • @shamitoson
      @shamitoson Před 7 lety

      Rio Lobo my kahr has around a thousand rounds through it, maybe more as it was previously owned and still won't slingshot. You want tolerances soo tight the gun doesn't function like every other gun? If you carry it with one in the chamber then it's perfectly fine. The size of the gun is awesome. It's just frustrating it doesn't function like it should. Why must everyone make excuses for it? I know how to use it. It says so in the manual. It just seems like a design flaw. If you have to train differently for the guns idiosyncrasies, then it's not well thought out.

    • @onmydignal
      @onmydignal Před 7 lety +1

      If your Kahr pistol can load a round by using the slide release, then it is functioning as designed. I have 4 Kahr pistols: P45, 2 - PM9s and a CW9. None of them slingshot easily. The slingshot must be brisk if attempting to load that way. You would never want to load a round by easing it into the chamber.
      Train differently? Loading a round with the slide release is by the book, and is the only way to assure that the round pushes past the extractor, and becomes firmly seated in the chamber. The casual slingshot doesn’t give you that assurance and can lead to light primer strikes and/or failure to extract.
      What model do you have? What ammo and bullet type are you using? Have you attempted a very brisk slingshot -- by pulling the slide all the way back (not 90% -- all the way -- it may be difficult if you have the small 380, or 9, or a stiff recoil spring) and letting it slam home? Small pistols are difficult for many people to slingshot. Also check the magazine lips and the follower for any abnormalities, rough surface, cuts, metal scraping, etc. You may have gotten some bad mags with the used gun.

      Rio Lobo I don't mean to start an all out war. Clearly you like Kahrs. It is a nice gun. I have the pm9. I like to carry empty and slingshot a round in the chamber If needed. Which is likely never. That's why we carry guns in the first place. I have had no problem what so ever once the first round is chambered, by using the slide release. While the gun functions perfectly if you carry one in the chamber, I don't care to do so. Maybe I'm not experienced or proficient in carrying firearms as you. I'm almost 40 and I've shot guns since I was 6. I do have some experience in handling pistols of many calibers. I'm simply pointing out to the potential buyer that the kahr pm9 is quit finicky. Which is why this "problem" or "issue" is stated over and over again in the gun community. It isn't for nothing. I have multiple firearms that I can take out of the box and rack however I want and they will chamber the round. The kahr, guaranteed fail. So in my personal experience with Glock, Sig, Smith, and Ruger, I've never handled a gun where this slingshot method doesn't work. Except the kahr. Maybe I got a faulty one, but the repeated reports of this happening for other kahr owners makes me believe this is not a fluke. Seriously, I wish it was. The gun is awesome. Smaller then the competition. Great look with the chrome on black, way better sights then a glock. Smooth double action trigger pull, if you like revolvers, I do. I just think it's well worth noting to a potential buyer that this gun has its issues. To a new shooter looking for a concealed carry 9mm, I would say look elsewhere. If yours can chamber a round by slingshoting, Damn I'm jealous. It would be the perfect CC if mine could. Maybe I do just have one that doesn't want to break in. Oh well. Mine will be for sale.

    You missed the fact that the barrel on the CW9 is quite a bit longer than the Shield for the same length gun -- like 1/2". Kahr is also lighter by a couple ounces. Further, that safety on the Shield ignores Left-Handers, but you can flick it off with a left trigger finger; however engaging the safety for a left-handed shooter just plain sucks. Please! Stop whining about the magazine difference -- just buy an additional mag for the Kahr and stop repeating it over & over!

    Good video. I've seen several videos here about the Shield and they all are in agreement as to how great a a gun the Shield is. There's been so many independent reviews of this gun that are very favorable I think I'm going to go get a permit to buy one. Aside from all of the great features that it has, it's very affordable which in this day and age that's an important factor.

    You are mixing up front and rear sights. The front sight is closest to you when you are shooting it, rear is at the muzzle end.
