I was on the fence on getting this (you often encounter crappily made games that just try to cash-in on IP), but it sounds like it was thoughtfully designed and there's a lot of beautiful game pieces!
In an interview with the designer I heard today, he does confirm this one was designed to play with his whole family including his 6-year old daughter. Same thing he said about the Labyrinth one. He also mentions he made some design improvements from that to this game.... so ya, not very much difference. He kept both pretty simple purposely.

Lots of cancer patience there (though my son had Epidermolysis Bullosa [EB]. Anyways, they gave away tons of these beanies. I like the style and they remind me of my son. :)

What are SkekNa and SkekAyuk for ?
They are both special ability cards that you can obtain during rest. They give you more options to role and are one time use.

Ya, more serious games come with unpainted minis. They a good quality.
When minis come pre-painted, they are usually poor quality, or at least there is a chance for errors.
