I used this wire wrap for a large opal cabochon that I gave to my mother in law as a gift. She absolutely loved it. The design was perfect as it still allowed the sides to show through so you could still see the opal sparkle. Thanks so much for sharing this design. Take care 😘

Your wire work is very pretty and very precise. I am afraid mine would never look so "polished". I enjoyed watching and may try this once I get my courage up. The bracelet weaving with beads seems more my level, but I love to watch and learn! One thing I will take away from this video that I can use again and again is the cutting off the tip of the wire for making a more perfect spiral circle. You are the first to show me that. It makes great sense and your spirals all match! Well Done!

I recently found a tool called a jewelers ring clamp, before I was using a clamp like yours!! I got a ring clamp though and it’s amazing! It has leather lined jaws and it has a vise tightening type deal on it and I can tighten it to any wire and it holds it nice and tight without scratching the wire at all! It’s so neat! Thank you so much for your video, I have been doing my wrapping all wrong! I was attaching the base/back to my top weave pattern after both were complete and I don’t like it at all because the connecting wires go over the pretty wrap I made on the front and it just looks messy! I’m going to start using my clamp and wrap them all together!! Thanks so much!! This has been the most helpful video I’ve watched this far 🤣

  • @wendyannh

This is beautiful, Christina - and solves a problem I've been trying to find a solution to for several years!
I have a *huge* pear-shaped crystal, cut like a diamond, that was sliced open along the culet, hollowed out, partially filled with smoky topaz and pearl beads, and then sealed back up. I haven't been able to find anyone willing to risk drilling a hole in it for stringing, or to wire-wrap it with gold-filled wire (they wanted to do 14k or copper or silver) because I haven't had any idea how to do it, and I also haven't wanted to do or have anyone else do the typical wire-woven bezels because they all seemed like they'd cover up too much of the stone. This bezel is especially perfect because I'll be stringing the stone with triangular-shaped smoky topaz briolettes! I'm going to probably need to use closer to 26g wire, and have to figure out a much smaller bail, but I think I know how to do that.
In general, I really prefer these more minimal wire wraps, especially with stones that have pattern to them, because I really like to have the stone itself highlighted. I just want to cry at so many I see where people do all this fancy, swirly wrapping all over the place that pays no attention to the stone itself, and ends up burying the beautiful patterns of it beneath a web of totally extraneous wire. The workmanship is often gorgeous, but why buy a stunningly-patterned stone if that's what you want to do?

Since I have a lot of uncut gemstones I am very interested in learning weaves like this for holding stones in place. Your tutorial was very clear and easy to follow. And from what I can see, it seems that a weave like this could be made a bit wider as well as longer for stones that are a little larger and more asymmetrical. LOVED that clamp you used at the beginning, too! What a good idea for being able to continue weaving while changing your location. :)

Another great wire wrapping video. I've found and have been watching your videos for the better part of a year now. I've never commented before but thought it was about time I let you know how much I appreciate you sharing your design ideas with us. My favorite of your videos are the wire weaving series and when you wire work around a cabochon. I would love to see even more weaving patterns and I also would love to see you take 3 or 4 of those weaving patterns around a cabochon. I don't know if you have ever done a project like that....like capture a cab with one weave then build multiple other types of weaves in layers on and around that initially captured cab. If you have never done a project like that I sure would love to see you try one I think it would turn out lovely with all of your knowledge of wire, wire weaving and cabochons. Instructional videos such as this type of project I have described aren't easy to come by at no cost to us. My passion right now and for some years now is wire weaving and it is inspiration and learning from a few generous artists such as yourself that have gotten me as far in my learning journey as I an today and I can't thank you and Oxana from Oxana crafts enough. You two are my youtube mentors. If you ever have a chance to talk about selling online, what it takes, dos and dont'ts, the importance of social media and how in the world to master and use it (because that's my biggest thing holding me back, I've never had a facebook page and don't even understand how you get people to see it if I were to create one for my jewelry and I can't really figure out exactly how to use pintrest either... ugh...so frustrating when all I hear is how important social media is to an online jewelry shop) and how you have been successful that would be amazing to hear from you about....just an idea☺ Well again thanks for all you do, Melissa Wood

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It really means a lot to me. I haven't done a piece like that yet, but I will keep it in mind. Regarding using social media it can definitely be a bit of a jungle sometimes, but it definitely can also be of great help to grow your business. Regarding Facebook for instance the first step is obviously to make a page, but then you can become part of relevant groups where you can share your work and then thereby get traffic back to your page and also go to other pages like magazine pages and post your work. Just make sure whatever pages you post on, you follow the rules that are stated if there are any. Using things like Pinterest and Instagram is also helpful, and maybe even consider setting up an Etsy shop at some point if you feel up for that. There are also Etsy groups on Facebook that can be of great help with anything to do with Etsy. I hope that helped a bit and I wish you all the luck with it :-)
