  • The new Fresh Foam Hierro V6 from New Balance is a thoughtfully designed trail running shoe. Not only does it hold its own on the trails it keeps aesthetics that look just as good with a set of jeans.

    Great review. I am late to these Hierro V6's having only bought mine in 2022 when they were out in 2021, but I now have 2 pairs.Love them that much. The V7's are almost out and the outsole pattern has changed to a more aggressive lug pattern which will be better on trails

      Hi Jack, Cheers 🤙 Oooo both real decent set's of shoes. I've actually had both for a while now and I'd say the Sense rides would hold up better in the real muddy trail situations. Hope that helps

    Great review, thanks! Have New Balance stopped producing the Summit Unknown? Are the Hierro V6 designed for similar terrain as the Summit Unknown, or is there a more comparable shoe in their range?

    • @wiggle
      @wiggle  Před 3 lety

      Sadly we think so for now. Designed for similar terrain although a more similar shoe is the new Fresh Foam More Trail v1. Have a look and see what you think

    Wiggle, nice review. I have just received a pair of these and have to ask if anyone thinks the rear outsole extension can be trimmed. I wouldn't cut it right up to the Fresh Foam maybe hold it off 3mm or so. I work in a hospital wearing scrubs but I'm constantly on my feet and moving about. These are very comfortable with great support but I really don't like the look of the extension and don't need the heel protection.

    • @wiggle
      @wiggle  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jim, I 100% would say you could trim it off with a sharp stanley blade. It's only really there for running on rough trails so a hospital floor will be more than fine without them.

    • @jimsego172
      @jimsego172 Před 3 lety +3

      @@wiggle Managed to trim the stabilizer today. I drew a cut line on the shoe then cut it with a new bladed utility knife which left some cut marks. I smoothed the cut edge with a sanding cylinder on a Dremel rotary tool and it looks OEM.

      @@wiggle Just got my v5s of these. Super high quality. The foam is way way denser than videos and images lead on. Offers a lot of support for more of my pretty flat arch too, just because it has a nice shape. Its pretty wide with a good toe box. I meant ‘toe protect’... nah, I’m based in South Africa. Just thought if anyone was considering this shoe they should know. It’s damned comfy and one of the best fitting shoes I’ve ever worn. Rep here said I should just get a new shoe but gone back to Altra’s instead which is a shame. Was enjoying the cushioning in the Hierro but until they improve the quality of the material in the next version I wouldn’t consider it...
