I’ve been walking roads/sidewalks”side pathways” for 3 years now. Just moved from Canada to Uk and boy are the street/ pathway conditions so different. I have the fresh foam x 880v 12 and I found walking very taxing on the feet and ankles when the paths are so uneven they strain certain parts of your feet in Road running shoes. I researched trail shoes for a while because part of my 11 mile hike was broken sidewalks, soft ground, branches and stones to tread and my feet/ankles were taking a beating. I found these Hierro trail shoes and they were night and day compared to what I was wearing in terms of ankle support, comfort and traction. I’m so tempted to use as my casual trainer because of the comfort I get from these over just the casual trainer. Unreal difference!
Bought them for hiking in Norway this summer. I wanted lighter hiking shoes for dry weather but was never a fan of regular warmer weather hiking shoes. These came recommended as great for hiking as well and I enjoy wearing them so much. They are super comfy and the Vibram sole gripped rocks like I was glued to them and the toe protector had enough work to do... Over here (EU) I've seen them in black/purple accents (GTX, 160 euro instead of 140), bright yellow, red/orange, blue, forest green, green, red/pink and brown. Might not be the best for colder weather (see the holes in the toe section?), but maybe with some merino wool socks it'll be okay? Has to be dry weather though ;) They are rarely on sale here, but I managed to cop a pair for 35 euro off retail and think that is a very good sweet spot for price/performance. Thanks for showing some love to these awesome sneakers/trailrunners/hiking shoes. Went true to size on a standard width shoe, and I have narrow feet.
Hey thanks for your feedback, I found your comment a lot more insightful than the video itself :) I'm looking for a running + hiking shoe. I mostly run on roads, and go hiking once in a while. Would you recommend this shoe for that? Or perhaps the Pegasus Trail 3 or some other?
Have the V in goretex and VI in red pepper. These are like 1080 trails! The midsole feels the same on both but feel the upper is more comfortable on the VI
I own the regular version of v6 for the main purpose of our dog walks, which we prefer to go on rough tracks than the city paths. Since had them delivered till now I have encountered 1 con, which is...they make me look slightly elf... As I am a small built self person and the shoes somewhat look half my built... Not to complain, tho... I have a few pairs of running shoes from NB and first concerned if V6 wouldn't allow me to chase our dog down, if need. Tho, that concern solved itself. I still can mobile in running paces with the add ups of more grips and protections in rough paths. Right, before I end this comment, let me add that the regular v6 do not water proof hence our morning walks get my feet chilled in morning dew... 😭 Overall, I totally enjoy Hierro v6 😊
Would you recommend this or the 1080v11 for an every day shoe? I am unsure what shoe to buy in general but my main goal is an everyday shoe that lets me do the "ninja warrior spider jump" when the time comes. Thank you in advance!!
If you are going to jog on the streets get the 1080v11. If you want a casual shoe that also works for altletic activites like hiking, biking, get the Hierro 's.
Love the channel and love your review style of finding comfortable shoes wherever they may be. Any chance you could do reviews on more industrial work type shoes like work joggers with a hard toe. Trying to find comfortable ones but having trouble with knowing what's out there and the reviews to go with them. New Balance have some new ones but I don't think they are in the US yet, they called logic safety and industrial speedware, these are the types of ones I'm considering as well as boot type such as the New Balance contour safety zip side safety boot. (I'm in Aus)
After 3 months use: Whilst these are very comfortable, they are already leaking at both toes. I complained to New Balance given that only used for 3 months intermittently and just for walking the dog... The response was quite shocking... I received this from the Quality Care Team: "the indicated area is subject to constant bending and stretching when walking, and does so with every step, so you can imagine that after a certain amount of use the fabric loosens and may lose its water-resistant properties" The response also included a comment that this might be the "heat difference can make your feet feel wet, however, this is due to condensation because of the temperature difference, making it feel like water is entering through the mesh, when it really isn't" Plain and simple - these leak... I personally suspect it may be an isolated instance with these shoes but NB do not wish to replace(for the reasons quoted) I cannot reccomend the product and what is worse is that the customer service follow up from NB does not consider this an issue nor does it accept there may have been a manufacturing fault... I know and use Gore Tex products - for footwear...Nike, Adidas and Meindl footwear and have never encountered this issue. What a waste of £160. . By all means trust Gore Tex (I do) but I have little to no faith in New Balance competence in incorporating within their footwear - AS IT LEAKS AFTER 3 MONTHS... Which they either deny or state that constant stretching and bending means the fabric loses water proof properties - what else do you do with feet in shoes! If you're looking for waterproof footwear then would suggest Nike Pegasus Trail which has the same Gore Tex technology and these remain waterproof after over 9 months. Also Adidas Terrex and Meindl are fantastic - their customer service is great too. I mailed NB CEO and did not receive a response.
May I ask how much you weigh? I am 5'10 at 165 and do not regard that as personal information. The reason why I ask is you always smash the bejesus out of the midsoles of any shoe I ever see you try on. And watching this one I would have to hop off of a kitchen countertop to mash the shoe midsole of the heirro as much as you do. I'm guessing you have to weigh 220 or more? And now I am wondering how tall you are? Lol! :-)
Shoes are very cool but.... for hiking are too weak. It's incredible you can walk and see the toe of the shoes that destroy foot by foot! I tried V6 standard and V6 Gtx same problem! Does anyone have the same problem?
Lol, it's not that serious....I just wanted to say "I was first"....for once, it's no biggie. Yall can have the "1st" title, lmao.....im not soulja boy, I really don't care who's first 🙏🏾
I doubt that. They are selling out of most sizes and colors. They are a great hybrid road/trail/walking shoe. The midsloe and upper are super plush, the vibram sole /megagrip
It is becoming a Nike Adidas prostitution program and with the plethora of redundancy, I'm pretty sure you're going to become a college drinking game. Everyone will take a shot every time you say wide feet or tell us that everyone's feet are different as if we don't realize that. Lmao! That would make a great game! But nobody better try and drive home afterwards. Lol!
By the way, I don't know what the significance of this is, but I've literally never ever been moved to write a comment on any CZcams video that I've ever seen up until yours. What does that say? I don't know. But your videos are the first and only videos I've ever bothered to comment on. Perhaps I would just sincerely like to see more and better? By that I mean more variety and a better attempt to discover the next new big thing in comfort shoes and sneakers. I get that all of your money comes from Adidas and nike. Pretty sure we all get that all of your money comes Adidas and Nike... just saying... rapidly becoming lame.
Also, ever more convinced you don't even bother to read comments? You certainly don't seem to respond to them. These are the people that keep food on your table. You really seem like one of those people that has let some success go straight to your head?
You literally use the term I have a wide foot about 18 times through this video. If I had a dollar every time you said you had a wide foot I could just go ahead and retire. Lol! Also, For the Love of god, please quit telling us that everyone's feet are different. I'm pretty sure that anyone that can work a remote control realizes that everyone's feet are different? Lmao! Good grief! You say that in literally every video at least two or three times. We got it! We got it long before you ever said it. You're insulting the intelligence of your audience at a certain point. "As if"...

Its always interesting to hear the thoughts about a shoe from a purely casual perspective, and not a running perspective.
No

I bought these after watching this video. I am extremely impressed. They do fit a little snug, but it’s not uncomfortable at all.
How snug were they? Like toe touching the box?
Trail shoes wear out quicker when they are used on concrete a lot...also, the name of the shoe means "iron" in Spanish. It's pronounced "yehroh"
you gotta roll the RRs 😉
I have the V5 one of the most confortable if not the most confortable shoes I owned in my taste better than Nike react and Ultraboost love them!
just bought these today at REI thanks to your reviews. These things are so comfy. Keep up the great videos!
Been using these as a work sneaker for a few months now and I love em

The Pegasus and the Terrex are both goretex that's why they're more expensive
Thats a good price point for Trail sneakers. Definetly have my eyes on this when they become more available.
Another good one is the Brooks Cascadia 16. $130
My v6 gtx are otw , looking forward to them
I have four pairs of these. great shoe!
My 1080s v10s and 11s have been my go to
Positive Comment
that rubber that flares out is to stop your heel sinking down in mud via more surface area, its not for stability ;)
If your heel sinks you might loose...

Which one will be the most comfortable sneaker for joggers
Very good review! Keep it up!
Still waiting for V7 VS V6 video
You should try the Hoka speed goat
Are they STABILITY Shoes? I tend to overpronate

How do you cope with the last lace holes? Either you tie them the particular way runners do, or they seem to tear any moment
These waterproof?
Damn these are 🔥 need to see if they offer wide
hey. this is for running. do you run?
I run in mine mostly road /some trails with mine. the cushioning and grip are excellent

I don't see the point of a Trail shoe that isn't waterproof. They really need to make a GTX version of this.
They do .......it's the all black ones. I have not seen any for sale anywhere lately.

That's interesting!
Hierro v6 gtx or free hiker gtx

You have way too many shoes to ever have the rubber wear out on one. Maybe you should mention that in your videos.
In the New Balance webpage people are not happy with this model. Not a good buy to make.

Wash your shoes before you go on TV.
Waaaay too soft. No heel lock in.
Impossible for trail running.
rugged trails& climbing mountains. ...no. .................but light trails ,sure, you can
I just don’t see the point of lifestyle reviews on these type of shoes. Same with the performance running.
