For securing the foot plate thing, you could just weave a bit of chainmail and put it there instead. I recommend European 4-in-1 made from 14 gauge 5/16" ID galvanized rings. If possible rivet them closed, you'll just need to make them bigger at first so they stay 5/16".

Fiberglass welding blanket and fiberglass fill coating/naphtha and silicone gel, memory foam mattress cover, and a simple cardboard mold will get you most of the way through. Then use super glue and baking soda to fuse the joints; this makes a durable and strong plastic bond that will be strong and sandable/paintable. AlexLab has a video on composites that is pretty comprehensive.
as someone who is quite interested in the subject of armors, I'd say velcro is pretty shit to use in a apocalypse scenario, well, its pretty shit in general. But damn those shin plates look awesome
Difficult (expensive more like) to make a bulletproof shield. You basically have three materials that are bulletproof; kevlar, titanium, and ar500 steel plate. AR500 is too heavy, Kevlar is a fabric material that needs to be put with something solid (also its expensive) and titanium is FREAKING expensive, as well as being so hard it very difficult to cut and or shape. So while I could theoretically build a bulletproof shield, it isn't something I'm ready to make at the moment. I will make one in the future tho.
Why not use polyethylene fibers because it's better and cheaper, and use ar500 squares as a segmented armor on the polyethylene, it will allow flexibility too 😁

Bows don't like getting bashed about and are under a lot of tension, you'd be better off attaching a small pistol crossbow to a wide-bladed weapon.

That would be ideal, now I think about it. I have it fixed now with elastic. Maybe I’ll change it later
I guess that using elastic would be less time consuming but chainmail (especially if it's riveted) would be a hell of a lot stronger.
