Greg’s voice just fits with this one. Written and sung well by Warren, but Greg always rose to the occasion when singing this song. His gravely southern drawl and a lifetime of miles on the road and his tortured soul was simply perfect, imho. Bless his memory
6:10
You know it's truth when the music makes sense. When your heart over flows with warmth and eyes tear up, your throat tightens up, legs move in sync with the tunes being played. Could dance all night until the break of day..
I gave up on radio music many years ago. Heard nothing innovative, nothing worth listening to. Went in search of the real stuff. Have discovered along the way many artists who have been carrying the torch, these guys reign at the top (including TTB). Finding these amazing performances has justified and fulfilled my journey. It has re-filled my soul's craving for talent, soul and authenticity. This is musical paradise.
That friends, is one shit ton of guitar talent on the same stage.
Amen!
That is just a fantastic version of this song! Listening to it with a glass of Makers Mark
This is the the perfect example of a conversation of guitar solos. Everyone is taking turns without losing the essence of the song. Nobody wants to outshine anyone with some fancy lick that will ruin the flow. DT turning down the volume of his amp clearly showed a mutual respect for the Trey and Warren.
That's the way it was back in the olden days, no Show~boating. Brotherhood!
Awesome Southern Rock. This is an awesome group of musicians!
Derek is the best guitar player on that stage. I love it how he’s silent vocally but speaks volumes through his instrument. Trey has said he thinks Derek is the best guitar player alive
Also, Trey and Warren would be fine to just stand there and listen to Derek.... but wouldn't make for much of a show :-)
Exactly!! ✌️❤️🌼
Is this what it would be like in heaven? Like every amazing musician ever is playing, a true choir of angels.
If this don't make you happy then I don't what the answer is. Amazing!❤🎸
Oh yea, totally agree
True Playing For Change/Warren recently released a great cover.
Probably three of the best guitar players still alive
They’re solid players, and Derek is exceptional, but with Jimmy Page, Clapton, Roger Waters, Jeff Beck, Blackmore still with us that is a bit of a stretch IMO.
@@gregs8685 Fair point! I've been to phish shows and mule shows and I have to say I think the other two are very underated. I didn't say the best alive but I've got both in my top 20 right now
@@ryangunderson5064 I think top 20 is very fair. I’d say Derek is probably top 10 at this point.
@@gregs8685 Roger Waters?
@@slandersir7255 I know he meant Gilmour but it’s funny to think about roger trying to compete with these other guys
This is a beautiful Love song by The Masters! Miss you Greg, your Spirit Lives on!!
Wonder if Gregg was ever on stage with DT thinking, my God that’s my brother’s soul in that kid.
Supposedly Gregg said he never believed in reincarnation until he heard Derek play. And it's common knowledge that Derek loves Duane and studied his playing and music growing up. Hell, he has one of Duane's Marshalls from "At Fillmore East". So, yea. I think Derek is likely a bigger Duane-head than most all of us lol
They jammed so hard, it even gives ME guitar face 😆
Talk about etiquette all the way around. Can't leave without mentioning how undeniably gifted Derek is.
Gregg, he sounds so good singing, and playing that organ B3. He is so missed everybody around the world loved Gregg Allman!!!! Richard Bishop!!!!
That B3 sound though! 😍
RIP Gregg. Your music lives on
ben wellendorf he lives on not just his music
This is Warren’s music, but yes. Never be another Gregg.
This is Peace and Harmony, Why the Fuck cant the World be like this?????? Thanks for this, Love It!!
I miss Gregs. singing for sure one of the greats I'd say
This song is the best music I've ever heard in my entire life, but the message is even better. This is what I listen to when life gets hard. This song keeps me going. And fighting. And alive. If I had to choose one song to listen to for eternity, it's a God damned easy choice.
That's
the way guitar playing should be. Three guys feeling the groove and not trying to outdo each other. Mad respect to these guys!
Wow, the amount of talent on that stage is just incredible.
Warren and Gregg singing together are better than the finest wine!
By far my favorite version
An absolute epic performance!
The late Gregg Allman his legacy will continue living on for many many years to come, because legends never die..
we have been so blessed. ❤
Whoa. This is the version I HAVE that I ALWAYS listen to and never even realized it. I could tell as soon as Warren started singing. I love this version. They absolutely KILLED IT.
This is such a beautiful rendition of Greg’s song. I think it’s what he wanted to be remembered for. Touches my soul
Sorry, but it's Warren's song.
And can you believe there are people out there who say today's music sucks? Greg may be gone but Warren, Derek, Trey and so many others like them are out there doing it every day. Warms my heart.
i say today's music sucks. but i mean popular/radio music. of course im not referrring to Govt Mule, Derek Trucks, and Trey...those are some real legends still crushing it
Sooo true! More people need to see it
People out there say mainstream musics sucks.
@@djol3336 They do but I also hear people say that today's rock music sucks and they keep listening to all the same songs that they have been listening to for the last 50 years. Look at all the classic rock radio stations and even worse, classic rock bar bands. Sure a lot of those songs are great but hearing them every day for decades is too much. I stopped listening to FM rock radio 25 years ago.
Mine too
I only just started listening to Warren Haynes.I'd rate him as one of the greats. His Guitar is outstanding and his singing is up there with the best. I'm spellbound by him.
His singing is good....if he's not following Greg fricken Allman lol Allman's voice is just so much more powerful even being old and frail
Warren is in the top 100, per Rolling Stone. He's in my top 10.
Me too!
Warren wrote the song so I guess Gregg is making the mistakes. lol ☺️
@@michaelparker3709
Yea lol, wasn’t Warren in the allman bro’s band. I’m thinking he was.😊
RIP Gregg Allman, you will be loved and missed
Derek is now the master ! Finest guitarist in the world in my opinion.
Not a contest
*Finest guitarist to ever pick up the instrument.
Agree ❤
I never liked him that much. I like Warren better. But that's just a preference.
That moment at 7:22, where Trey is just following Derek's hands. He looks like a baseball player trying to get the pitcher's timing, so he can jump in perfect.
Excellent observation
I can't say enough times how great this is. Being older and watching my sons go see Fish, never knowing how talented Trey is or even who he was until this. I have always been an Allman Brother fan and love Derek, so good.
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Phish
Fish? As in Derek Dick?
Trey is phenomenal!
Rip Duane and Gregg. Never forgotten. The road goes on forever.
❤ warren and othets for keeping thos song relevant ❤ i luste to this daily hoping my soulshine will shone through i love when you and Derek jammed with Allman brothers.
My goosebumps have goosebumps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look high & low you will not find better music than southern rock thank the main man for the Allman Brothers band
Derek looks like he's still in high school! Now he is the professor.
I got to see him jam with them even 6 or 7 years before this. He was born to do what he does. So was Warren for that matter though.
edkerry87 dude I first saw him with Greg when he was 15. He was and will always be an amazing talent. Grew up with good roots.
You should all check out the video of Derek playing Layla at 13 if you haven't seen it
He was like in his mid 20s in 02. He still looks young today. I'd never guess he was older than me. By 4 or 5 yrs
Weirdo Can't say anything Right!
Man the way they just pass that end solo back and forth between the three of them is just amazing, true masters of their craft.
Miss Greg every day , even more at the Peach since he left us !!! Never missed one till he passed !! 😲😒😓😔😢😤😟 Such a lose when he left us humanity lost part of it's Soul that day and forever !!!!!! We will be forever................. He will be missed .........😟😟😟😟😟😟😟 only ever missed one too much sorrow.......
You said somthin' there brother ~ God bless, Hippie John ~ ✌
*Gregg
No douught my friend I agree will never stop missing him.
What can you say ~ Beautiful, sweet music from, in my humble opinion, some of the very best ever, and, for me, one of the songs throughout my life that has touched me deeply, deep in my heart, in my emotions, and when nothing else can break that sad horrible loneliness that I'm in, all alone, I listen to this, and look real hard for some light, light at the end of that tunnel, whatever that tunnel is or consists of ~ and, I see a glimmer ~ sometimes ~ not very much anymore though if I'm being honest ~ God bless all who read this ~ always and all ways ~ ✌ "So many times I had it made" had riches beyond my wildest dreams, and didn't even have two nickles to rub together, not a penny to my name ~❤
This!
Gregg, may your soul keep shining for long! We all know that your songs will keep living in our heart and soul.
Gregg Allman has an amazing resume of songs. But this is 100% Warren Haynes. I don’t think a lot of people realize that because he recorded it with the Bros originally. And if you knew, sorry to bother you. 🙂
I love the Trey “guitar faces”…lol. 👍🤘
Warren Haynes is the man!
Damn! My hats off to whomever is playing bass! Did a great job and guided one hell of a lineup through an incredible song!
Matt abts I believe

"I Love You Tommy" I'm Sure That Greg And You Are Up In Heaven Jammin Up There,Until We Meet Again Y'all RIP....
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Young DT killed that
I didn't even notice the transition from Gregg singing to Warren because I'm so used to hearing them both lol
Warren just effortless playing and a voice to go with
derek is awesome too
What an amazing performance by all.
Let's not forget the 'Bass Man'. Fantastic work by him.
Watching Derek Trucks playing like this twenty years ago is a beautiful thing. When you do boot camp with The Allman Brothers you become the finest guitar player there is. This song is a Masterpiece.
Everybody remember the first Further Festival after we lost Jerry? Wasn’t Derek w ABB? Saw At Blockbuster Pavillion. Such a talented youngin, he blew me away. We miss u Gregg and Jerry (and Duane and Butch💙🥺😭
this music makes my life better every day !!
Those 2 voices together are pure goosebumps!❤
Some of the GOATs
How incredibly beautiful 😍 ❤ 💖
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Missed every day my Friend ✌ Greg Forever !!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
I used to ride my bike to Paul’s house and sneak into his older brothers room and listen to this music. His brother was smart, four Altec 160W green tube amps connected in bridges, a crossover network in a cigar box with the crossover frequencies calculated in pencil on the lid, Altec and BSR speakers, you get the idea. It was all fun until Paul’s older brother did not come back from Vietnam (well in a way he did). I still love the Dead 50 years later. Some day, I too will pass and all of this will make sense. I want to go with a song in my heart.
It's so great see all three of these guys trading back this solo
This is one of my favorite ALLman Brothers songs! Melissa is my favorite but this is second!
This was originally recorded on an Allman Bros. album, but this is 100% Warren Haynes.
Wow!! 3 Guitar Gods.
So sweet. Really wish they were still having the Jammys!! Please someone put it back together. Relix? Pete Shapiro? These were such fun shows! 🙏🤞✌️🍄🍑 Especially love seeing Gregg...more please.
I went almost every Jammies. Gotta tell ya. Relix is a bunch of sell outs. The Jammies were fixed and everyone at relix kisses phish's ass. I remember one of their writers making shit up about the Grateful Dead Family Reunion. I was there front row for all the performances and the writer made up all kind of shit about Phil singing different lyrics. I've been around long enough to watch some of the Toni Brown Band's early performances and to see the eventual sell out of a once great magazine. Enjoy being custified by a bunch of greedy bastards.
@@cognitivedissonance7539 ummm ok... that's some heavy duty negative shit you're spousing. The jammies were fixed??? LMFAO...the jammies weren't the Grammy's dude...they were a celebration of the scene relix covers..the Jamband scene..of which The Dead and Phish just happened to be the biggest Jambands of their generations. But that said... Phish played a very minor role in the jammies so I don't know what's gettin your britches so up in anger but the jammies I went to had loads of musicians from different bands there all celebrating the jam scene that encompasses so many different styles of music. Maybe some styles could have been better represented but overall they were always a fun time. Maybe you should stick to the age old adage of...If you don't have something good to say... don't say anything!!! 😜
On a beautiful day in February believe or not I sit and sing my soul
3 of the greatest guitarists of the last 30 years and (without getting the geezers triggered… which is impossible) probably ever
Great version of this song! Thanks for posting it. I got turned on to this song by Larry McCray's version of it. Did not know that Warren had wrote it. May your soul always be blessed! Peace
FANTASTIC MUSIC ♥️ soothes my soul! 👏 BRAV0!
This song brings back some awesome memories sitting on the opposite side of the keyboard from Greg on a Thanksgiving Eve night sitting drinks up for each other at the Toy Tiger in Louisville Kentucky back around 1985. The only thing that blew the night was going out to find my hubcaps had walked off. But it was all worth it to get to jam with Greg
feels like yesterday that Derek was a kid... so much talent!
4 of best musicians of all time right there together.
Wow! Whole lotta talent on one stage. And so sweet!
Favorite all time song
Warren's tone 😎😎
What a performance... Just so freaking amazing !!! True legends of their craft one and all !!! RIP Gregg Allman 🎶
Tasty jam
This is so awesome!
I love it. ❤❤
Tears.
what a power trio! didn't really consider Trey as an individual artist, but he certainly holds his own here. What virtuoso playing!
He plays really well with Dave Matthews
Make it happen again. I'm in.
