What something is worth often is not what the selling price ends up being. Sometimes it's the value of saving the items from just deteriorating and rotting away that counts too. The items certainly were not being valued or cleaned up there in a heap of other items all in junk piles. It's easy to criticize a working man or working family, but he's the one doing the work to show everyone all these amazing hidden treasures and how to find them ourselves. He does a service to everyone sharing his expertise. Thank you!
I too am a dealer and run into the family heirloom problem. The piece has been sitting in a damp basement rotting covered by molded blankets for 40 years but they can't sell it because they love it so much! LOL
He's got sentimental attachment but didn't know they even existed.
This Drew guy won't even do the work himself. I used to do work for people like that. They make sure to pay you as little as they can so you can't afford not to do work for them. They don't pay on time and you end up begging for the money they owe you...Its the old game of financial slavery... I bet you a grand if you asked any of those craftmen that work for him, I'd be spot on... These kind of people are well known in the trade...
chris malcomson. Too True - sum up in one word 'LEECH'!
I have no affiliation to Drew nor for that matter anyone in his trade.
I would say that it's far too easy to diss and hurl accusations at anyone online these days. You use the phrase "people like that" You don't know him, you have no idea of his business morals and ethics.
I'm sure given his high profile in the media that someone would have publicised it if what you are saying was the case. I'm damn sure the craftsmen who do work for him and are seen on the show are gaining more business outside of Drews circle and are better off for it.
You'd be pretty pissed off if some spurious person who you've never met or dealt with started spreading malicious gossip about you purely because they had a bad scene with someone else in your business!!!
@@piggybakkers I can tell you've not worked in the antiques trade. I know exactly how it operates and I can tell you with uptmost confidence it doesn't work the way its portrayed in the show. To give you an example,.Two of them drive all day to go to some salvage yard, thats two persons daily wage, plus fuel and wear and tear on the wagon. Then Drew pays up to 70/80% of the items resale value, thats before he has work done on the pieces to bring them up to spec. No way does that work as a business plan. I restored thousands of pieces for people in the trade just like Drew and you become a very good judge of character.. The way it happens is these people will give you lots of work but pay you very little, the result is you're permenantly broke and will take on more and more of their work just to make ends meet... The trade is full of sharks of the wost kind.
@@chrismalcomson7640 Fair comment Chris. I've often thought that two guys driving hundreds of miles for minimal return was suspect. I take on board and agree with all you say. It is though, just too easy to find critical comments all over the internet void from people who have never met, nor dealt with the person they are critiquing. Point taken though.
He's the king of Ponce's!
Thank you Drew for all the fantastic videos.
He ripped that guy off with those crates. The wood is worth more than that.
Actually, you could tell drew smelled a gentle (sap) of a man...and proceeded to go after his jug-ular.
I’m glad he stood his ground on the jugs.
That seat belt won’t save you like that drew!
Stewart is quite the guy!!
The seller realized that Drew was just ripping him off.
A pub he's not barred from!!
HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaNo. Nice One! & that's just the tip of the iceberg but not going to say anymore¥ Cheers
He'll be barred from that one too, now that they've seen how much he ripped them off.
Quante belle cose sì trovano in un birrificio 🙌
Pay Tee, Drew. In cash.
Love this show!
Daylight robbery!!
Merciless business
Arse hole more like!
£50 each and there's 16 and nicks the whole lot for £50
That’s what screwyoudrew does he’s a con man and gets away with it on national tv, he’s a rat 🐀 he actually said “I know what I can get for them and then has the audacity to bid him 50 notes for £800 worth, he’s apparently reviled in wales 🏴 he’s an absolute dick.
Seems like some money can be made. Not sure about breaking even.
It's silly to stick things in an attic for years and years and never be seen and still hold on to it in a hundred years are they still going to be stuffed a way for nobody to enjoy them
Give me your wife then
I think it dawned on the bloke instantly that they were worth something and might sell on for higher prices when the value has increased even more, and / or his "emotional attachment" is wearing thinner. He is not going to tell us his innermost thoughts on camera and in front of DP....
Grass
👍👍🖐🖐😁beautifol
Why would you buy beer crates
Tsetsi. Corona virus!
Is that a serious question? You need to get out more!
Shops and photographic studios love them (according to Drew)...
Drew (wont) Hit The Jackpot With These Authentic Wooden Pub Crates(6:15 "we're probbly going to break even") Why Lie #SalvageHunters
They know what the item is worth, they know the owner doesn't... is it morally right to rob the owner? They never say what they sell the items they buy for. Confidence men.
The guys a butcher of our heratage. I guess it makes the things he doesn't get his hands on rarer. We used to call them 'Bison wax merchants' because rather than a sensitive repair, they cover it in black Bison wax and hoof it out... They have no feeling for the pieces that go through their hands, its all about pound notes..
Drew find 16 metal letters value at 800 pound .. then makes fair offer of 50 pound for the lot... à ruthless business.. words from his own mouth..
Couldnt make them for that price.😒
I'm almost teetering on the edge of disliking Drew
I love the show but Drew is so Dislikable !!!!
Tommy Lucy. Understatement! Mmm - I can't Explain what I feel about drew - LOATHING, there are No Words or terms how I feel.
