Anyone want to join me for part 2 of noobs at Whistler? Comment below and let's make it happen!
Cant believe you broke out into song with samurai pizza cats, I do it all the time and no one I know knows the reference
I'm in!
Yes.
I’d love to join you but I’m in the strictest sense of the word noob, Ill be going back on July 24th but I’m getting a coach to help me out and my bike rental is only a half day, but let me know if you’d be willing to do mostly easier blue trails like B Line with me.
Yeah I would!
I mean, living in New Brunswick is a minor logistical issue right!?! :)
Say when bro!
So refreshing to see a different point of view on Whistler. Something a lot of us can relate to and how I imagine I would be if I get there.
That's exactly why I wanted to make this video - I knew people wanted to see what a typically rider looks like at a new, huge place
Agreed this is what I needed to boost my confidence
Nice to see some dudes of my same skill level. Finally realize whistler is possible even for me! Haha
I was impressed. It was totally accessible to riders of all skills.
No just possible Seth - but everyone's dreamland for mountain biking!
The fourth guy on the chair (7:22) in the full face helmet and Darth Vader gear was planning the overthrow of the galaxy. Cheers Josh!
I'm totally blanking on his name - but he was a viewer on the channel and a great dude! But I had a feeling he had a dark side.....
Bro josh is a storm trooper
Man Whistler is one of my dream places to ride my bike in. Hopefully one day I get the chance to ride there! Love the videos Josh, keep it up!
You'll totally get a chance to ride it my guy! And you'll love it!
Thanks man! I really hope I get a chance to ride there!
DO IT! My first day was last week. Drove up from Denver. So worth it (especially since I linked up a bunch of rides on the way there and back).
Do it, bucket list stuff. I flew by myself from Australia for 2 weeks, stayed at bear back riding lodge (great place), rode the park for 10 days and progressed heaps. Made riding friends from the U.S N.Z and U.K for life!
One day i wanna good bike...
Josh, it's so great you are encouraging the noobs. Especially the middle aged folks 👏👏👏👏.
You're good at encouraging nervous riders. Very important for new riders; keep it positive and easy going. good job with that.
My first day in a bike park was the beginning of a sweet romance.
Haha as it was for Mike and Matt as well!
Great video, thanks to Mike and Matt for sharing your first runs with us. Seeing you guys ride makes me want to ride Whistler. I needed this video.
Terry MTBnurse dying to get back and do it again
Giving them lots of encouragement. I appreciate people like you who build confidence. Respect. Great channel
I like how you ride with Mike and encourage him. Gives us average riders encouragement. 👍
Great video! I like the support and encouragement you gave the guys and didn't feel the need to show off what you can do.
EJ Cena he’s a pretty good host.
You're so encouraging for your buddies. We all need a buddy like you!
It’s like in Mario kart when you do the trick on the jump and Mario goes “wooo” 😂
Haha I never thought of it that way, but now it makes so much sense! I need to channel my inner Mario!
Thank god I found this video, I will probably be going there next summer and really needed this
I subbed my fellow middle-aged MTB'er!!! Love the support of this community and LOVE the sport! I am a NOOB Middle-aged MTB'er and PROUD!!!
Pretty cool Matt and Mike agreed to this. Makes me more comfortable about hitting Whistler for the first time this month.
You'll have such a good time Joe! And you're not a bike park noob so you'll be totally fine!
@@DailyMTBRider Well, i've only done 1 east coast bike park and it was only for 2 days. And i crashed and broke my bike the first day. So.... yeah, we'll see. haha I'm sure it's going to be rad.
@@MrTonka how'd it go man?
Great job Mike and Mat also Josh way to go on giving them words of encouragement.
So they're not noobs, just new to Whistler HUGE difference! Good riding!
True - not full blown noobs, but noobs to whistler for sure!
It’s nice to see experienced riders taking new guys out and making them feel welcome
I appreciate how you took them out so that they could have fun first and foremost.
Such a great rider and video maker. Keep up the good work. YOUR A BEAST
Super awesome. Got to be awesome to experience the stock of their first time there. Someday I'll feel that also. Great video Josh.
There's nothing better than taking your buddies to a place you love!
Props to the guy on the Xc bike
MUD duramax it’s doable even on my short travel bike...but I sure would love to ride Whistler on a DH bike sometime!
Thank you for this video. I am not sure when I will be able to hit Whistler, but to see you take newbies on the trails gives me hope that if I do show up to Whistler I will have an amazing time riding these killer trails. Maybe do more of this type of videos. All the Best!!
BostonDonMTB you’ll have a blast!
Makes me feel more comfortable taking my whole family there -Great video!
Great Job Mike and Matt way to progress!! Good to see whistler from a different perspective.
They killed it and they can't wait to go back!
Thanks - it was an epic day and I'm still trying to figure out when we can do it again!
@@middleagedmediocremountain4767 you did great. Very happy for you.
Whoo, whoo, whoo! The Rick Flair of mountain biking. Love it!
Inspiring video🙂 im going to a bikepark in Sweden today and its so much like this, looks easy on gopro but in real life so much bigger. Love your videos👌
Heading up for my first time tomorrow. My skill level is about on par with Mikes....
Looking forward to it!!!
Epic video dude you guys were absolutely shredding.
Terrible friend = Good friend.
Yelling all time from first lift until the end of the day that what we need for their first day.
9:30 I loved your Biking With Bobo moment
Haha you caught me channeling my inner bobo!
Awesome to take the time with noobs and show them the ropes.
Had a similar experience last week. First day at Whistler. I have ridden several other bike parks and was worried that Whistler would be a lot harder...but it was the exact opposite. Sure there were some crazier trails, but everything as so dialed that it made it easier since I knew after a few runs that every lip is pretty much perfect.
It’s so true - whistler is so well made that almost anyone can have a great time
Great video man! loved the beginner point of view
Great video! Great topic! Thanks
Nice vid. Great concept. Man I gotta get out there.
My dad thinks I´m crazy because I broke my collarbone while failing a pretty big double and went through surgery and still, all I do while being stuck at the hospital, is watching mountainbiking videos xD Thats how you know when it´s a passion. Cant wait to get back on the track ! But first it´s time to chill and heal back up.
If i went to whislter i would be smilling the whole way down cos here in england we dont have huge mountains to ride
You should be happy in England, come to Finland and there are literally no mountains.
Both of you just need to get over here to the states already!
@@DailyMTBRider Would love to, maybe in the future.
@@th_js well i guess we have the lake district 😂
@@DailyMTBRider that would be amazing but im still a teenager but in a few years maybe
Great vid Josh. Nice to see "everyday" guys (way to rep us middle agers Mike!) ride a landmark place that is usually seen from the prospective of very skilled riders.
Hey - 48 year old "decent" riders can have a blast at Whistler!
Great guidance man I want to go there!
Well that's answered my question of whether you need an enduro/dh bike or not for Whistler. Mike did it on a 110/130mm trail bike. Great video as always Josh, keep it up.
That I did...but I was sure eyeing all the Dh bikes and would love to try one sometime!
No one in the lines? Remind me to go to the bike park with you in the future!
Paul Billings yeah it was crazy...longest wait was less than 5 minutes.
It’s all about going on Friday’s my guy!
Stop giving away the secret! We were definitely there on a Saturday. Or Sunday. ;)
can't wait to make it out there
Great vid! I definitely will be a good candidate for next years newb to whistler 😁😆🤙
Doesnt matter wich level you ride your bike
Whistler is the place to be
One day ill come back
Was there once in winter and broke my collarbone
Theres alot to do over there
jajaja so good video love the jumptrail! now feel motivated what gest me going the longest while bike is delta parole or other rokk music!
This is actually a really really good video. I’ve often wondered if a noob like myself on a bike with less travel could enjoy Whistler without killing myself!
I plan on bringing my short travel roscoe 8 for the green and blue tech stuff. As long as you know what jump sizes you are comfortable with on your bike you'll be fine. If all else fails the rentals aren't super expensive.
Just subbed to Mike 👍
You know ya contents good when there's that little dislikes!! Congrats bro keep up the fantastic content!
I want to go to whistler too!!
There's nothing like seeing joeys in action!
i wouldnt say noobs, its a bit of a rude thing to say but yeah beginners, its so fun to learn them because you get to see someone finding their way into the sport which is awesome to see
I'm a noob rider myself just started to ride. Definitely would like to come visit BC to hit some trails and snap some photos of people hitting the jumps. Sweet video!!! If I come up from Ontario can you show me around?
On the 4th of July I rode a lift access park for the first time. Boyne Highlands in Michigan. Mostly tech type runs, but still fun. I'd love to hit a park with flow trails.
Awesome! I plan to go to whistler for the first time next year.
Hucking Mtb this aged poorly XD
It sure did. Had everything but the bike rental booked.
Hucking Mtb yikes, I’m so sorry, hopefully it opens up this summer! Hope for the best
Not anymore mate I was meant too as well and I’m pissed bc of corona virus
Great vid! 👍🏻
Thanks
Awesome to see people head up for the first time! Even though I live less than 4 hours away I've never been, heading up for the first time in august.
You need to go!!!! I live over 10 000 km's away and I can't go.
@@th_js Definitely. Having babies at home cut down my adventure radius to almost nothing but they're old enough now to make road trips fun again. Condo booked and my HD4 is ready to go!
@@bigslacker666 Nice!!
First time heading to the park tomorrow :D
My heffy mountain bike i got from walmart today for my birthday, is 24 inches. It has two gear shifters in the handle. ONe left, one right. can someone explain what both do?
I hope to visit one day and ride some of them lines
That was pretty cool. I’d love to see you do the same thing but take newbies out to Galbraith and Chuckanut.
Very good
Matt is 👌👌💯💯
a good tip i have for most beginners is that they should always avoid locking up their rear wheel. it destroys flow and speed, it is a bad way of braking too, it’s way better to feather the brake until the point where you almost lock up your rear wheel.
Been waiting for a new video 😎🤘🏻
Stoked you like it Tomi - it was fun to make!
@@DailyMTBRider I bet!
Nice, dear noobs, elbow pads for whistler bike park! And big helmet :)
Very cool to go with someone that's been there before. Would love to try it but I'm a beginner.
jvh22a yea I wouldn’t spend the money if your just a beginner because it’s Probly not worth it. Wait till your a bit better and it’s totally awesome place to ride
I'm pretty much like your friends, 130mm travel no full face helmet and always wonder how would be for me there. Now have and idea.
it's awesome!!!
There's Hope for me yet!
Username checks out. I'm both a dad and I've crashed, so if I can do Whistler, you're next!
@@mattjgreene lol 😂 seriously.... Planning my 2020 pilgrimage already....
Same trek remedy as me😀😃
Mike either needs a bigger dropper so he can lower his saddle or he needs to stand up more because it looks like he's almost sitting down half the time.
Good one!
Sweet!
So Ive seen enough videos now to know that most people dont seem to realise that Samurai Pizza Cats was a cartoon
I had no idea - and I'm 48. 🤔 Was wondering where some of those trail names came from.
Great video! Nice change of pace from the typical Whistler videos. Recommend people wear a full face though. I went with my buddy who's the best rider I know. He planned to just "take it easy" since he was with me and a newer rider, and he did, but ended up clipping a tree with his bars and left with a cracked tooth, black eye and 2 broken ribs. Just ain't worth it.
Well, there is one more gopro effect that .....not so many YT-bears ;) mention.....which is higher than real speed. And it's opposite to all the other effects, so while it looks to us like people on YT are MTB-gods, they're just riding at an average speed.
The GoPro really changes your perspective in a lot of ways, that’s for sure!
where i work, as soon they see braking bumps, i see them on my trail reports lol.. They are spoiled where i work.
You guys seemed so calm loading your bikes on to the lift, there would be a constant flow of cursing pouring from my mouth there haha
Flatwoods MTB it was my second time I realized you need to kind of roll the front tire into that tray.
You should go to Stevens Pass, it is so sick!
Weston Stutzman we’ve thought about it, but living in bellingham it’s the same length of drive to whistler as Stevens.
I’m gonna be honest I haven’t been to a Mtb park yet i should go soon though
Yeah seriously, I would be Mike riding those trails.
It’s fun being me!
10:45 on that kind of trail what gears do you prefer to stay in??
I'm completely brand new to modern MTB and this place looks so sick! It's too bad I'll probably never go since it's so far from me(AZ) :(
I live in Tucson and I'm going to Whistler for 2 weeks in June, round trip is only $333 to Vancouver. Then from there it'll get expensive with housing, food, bike repair and lift tickets
what kind of helmet chin mount you use for you gopro?
Around how many laps do you do in a day at whistler
I first thought it is bcpov on the tumbnail
The first, and the last time in my life I'll be mistaken for bcpov. 😂
02:50 not closing the bar makes me sweat like hell
You're such a MTB Dad in this vid 😂
Everyone needs a father figure to help them out every now and then
Are you training for the Enduro race at Whistler? My money is on you!
Soooo very jealous. Middle age gettin out. Good for you.
I see an interesting gopro mount on your chinbar. can you tell the Hero 7 owners how you did it.
do you have to do that turning thing after every jump
Sick dude🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾💔
Hell they did an amazing job IMO.
Thanks man - it was soo much fun! Been dreaming of getting back there...
Thanks!
Does no one ever pull the safety bar down on the chairlift?. I've been snowboarding a few times and that was the worst bit, sod riding on it without the bar down.
What was the first run’s name y’all went down called?
I subscribed!!
Was this filmed with the hero 7 on the chin bar?
