Hy, i have an late 07 a4 b7 2.0tdi 140hp with engine code bpw is this engine good? i heard that other type of engines like BLB are verry bad,
Hi
I'm looking to buy a b7 with the 2.0 tdi 140-170 hp, any recommendations about it or problems with it?
Greetings from South Africa. I like the B6 and B7 A4. The only drawback for me with the B7 is that it doesn't come with the 2.4 v6 petrol engine so I would stick with the B5/6 4 door sedan models with the automatic transmition.
B7 3.2 fsi here, 332k still running smooth :D
how many problems have you had?
Mines 220k and turbo spools beautifully.
I just put mine in the shop at 142k for long crank time, rough idle at start up, misfiring and check engine light.
Kenith McIntosh what was the problem?
@@EveryDayLifeChannel9777 what was causing your missfire
I have a b7 S4 4.2 ltr in the rare blue 6 speed standard. As new condition always garaged each winter. Love the Recaro seats. From Beardmore Ontario Canada
I agree I have the window regulator and the air-condition problem with my b7
I also agree on the window regulator as well on my b7
Sline version was sublime. Cornered beautifully and it was 1.9 tdi. Missing my b7 a lot.
I've got one. So many constant issue with it but absolutely love driving it
Already bought my 1.8T 163HP Audi, but nice to see what I should take a look at now.
i have a b7 2005 1.8tq and it runs like a champ. 91k miles on it and now it runs a k04 with decat, software etc. Never had any issues other than the usual oil change and general maintenance like plugs and filters.
B7 2006 3.2 332k on the clock, still runs like a champion.
I'm happy to hear that
Yeah ive got a 3.3 TFSI with 400,000 on the clock!
1.8 t was a good engine thats why :) They can go 300,000 miles and beyond with good maintenance
Have you still got the car?
I have A4 S-line B7 2007 year. For now, I don`t have any issues but I saw the previous owner changed a lot of things, so I don`t plan to keep it up long for myself or the same destiny will wait for me also :). It is 2.0 petrol engine.
That's the best guide on CZcams
Anybody have any experience with an 2005 A4 Quattro? I’m looking into buying one and was wondering if it’s a good choice.
Thank you a lot for your time you took to make this vid, it really pinpooints the issues in my car. I had until und now, oil pump chain ripped apart, with it turbo failure (at 22000 km) . And now (at 47000 km) oil pump hexagon drive shaft failure.
At the Moment i am sceptic about my car, but the issues i had, are exactly the ones you noted, so i kind of feel "safer" now - that ive went through the known problems. So at this point, i ask myself are there any other issues i didnt stumble upon, is there something else i shall know about.
I had a 54 plate 2.0T B7, loved it. Wish I never sold it tbf, I liked the simplicity of the car, the ride was like an S class (smooth) and it was quite nippy with 200 horses, looked good as well as it was S line. Overall a very good car. Only downsides would be the mpg and a bit of understeer.
i have a 2004 audi a4 b6 and its really beautiful for its age
any issues come up? are the parts expensive?
@@zacjohnson8404 Parts are not expensive. Workshops might charge a lotfor reparations.
You are the best detailed reviewer.thank you
I appreciate that !
Does the oil strainer issue affect the B7 1.8 and 2.0T or just the B6?
Hi, would you recommend a 2006 August 2.0 TDI 140 hp engine? I think you said don´t buy those but i want this engine can you tell me for what i must look as code or somethink like that . thanks in advance
Előre is köszönöm a választ!
fitting that I'd find this video right as I'm thinking about buying a b7 quattro
Owning a b7 3.0tdi avant quattro here :D. runs like a rocket
nagyon jó videók, nagyobb nézettséget érdemelsz
kösz!
Hi, I'm looking at buying a fully loaded 2006 A4 (B7) with the 3.2 FSI. It's only got 70k on it, body and interior are in great shape. Do you think that it will be decently reliable? I'm fine with putting a little bit of money into it but i don't want to spend thousands per year on maintenance. Thanks!
Does the B7 have an electronic Speedo as well as analong?
timing belt in the 2.4l 170hp engine has to be changed before/at 180tkm.
Yeah good point ,needs to be replaced a camshaft sensor, engine speed sensor sometimes, the start relay blown ..
Good luck! Be ready with ibrufen for headache. rust frame , diverter valve, etc etc
B6 1.9tdi with software @ 180hp, smooth power for overtakes and very, very reliable engine. 530k kilometers and going like a new one.
What did you have to change on it?
Bought a b6 03 quattro manual a4 for 300$ 187,000 miles and run stronger than hell
Is it true what people told me and i saw my self 4-5 cars on street, that B7 2.0 TFSI is eating oil ? and why is eating oil ? piston rings or turbo is the problem ?
Hi, would you recommend a 2006 2.5 TDI engine? I think you said don´t buy those built before 2004 but im not sure. thanks in advance
yes it should be good, but check the engine code, the most reliable 2.5 TDI engines have these codes: BAU, BDH, BDG, BCZ
Can anyone tell me anything about the 1.6 petrol 102 bhp version? I am currently driving an 1.2 12v Polo, which is the 1.6 16v with a cylinder taken off and this engine only required one ignition coil (70 euros) in 6 years and 80k km of owernship. I know that the engine is bulletproof. Is the 1.6 in the A4 the same as the 1.6 SR from the Passat B5.5 and the Golf 4? I know these engines like the back of my hand. I don't really care about performance since I'm a slow driver and I never get past 110 km/h, which pretty much every engine these days does. Thank you people!
How fix inmobilazer problem???
how much should i keep at least for repairs etc.?
Just bought a violated 3.0 hoping to get it nicely running
I was thinking of buying b7 2.0 tfsi any suggestions? Opinions?
Had this car for 6years now most reliable car i ever had 1.9 tdi
Please sir...what's your honest opinion on 2007 q7 3.6...112k miles....runs great just reading alot of horror stories with timing chain?
This is shocking to me that no one has mentioned the HUGE flaw in the design of the S4 Series 4.2L V8! The Timing Chain Guides and Cam Sensors go bad around 120K, and the engine has to be removed ( Timing Chain is on the BACK of the Engine ) and serviced, to the tune of about $6000 here in the US. Not to mention the other flaw, in the low-rent-Jetta-quality of the interior switches and controls that flake and rub off very quickly and make the interior look junky. Great work AUDI !! Lastly, for those of your brave enough and with deep pockets to own an AUDI, this is the last Era of Hydraulic Steering, so you don't have that numb, artificial feel of the B8 A4. No thank you. I'll stick to Benz and BMW. There's a good reason my Mechanic calls AUDI "A Volkswagen with options" .
great video!
Maintenance is everything. Buying a b6 or b7 is easy because they are cheap but get a full maintenance history if you can. Most Audi owners tend to skip maintenance due to cost after warranty. If you are handy most can be done by yourself but expect headaches in the shop as engine bays are tight requiring removing lots of systems to get to the fix you need. I would say that the 3.0 v6 NA is the most reliable engine but it does not mod well if you are looking to get more HP from it, a tune and exhaust will get some positive results but can't be turboed. The B6/7 cabriolet is a future classic as a 4 seater convertible with great styling and handling.
*Have an issue with my 2008 a4 with rpm fluctuations after 2nd gear and have no idea what is causing it ... gears 1 and 2 are fine and after that the rest of the gears surge but less noticeable when warm but still does it regardless and drops power also*
probably limp mode need to check the control modules perhaps
Water pump?
2003 A4 1.8T automatic with 400xxxkm
Is it worth it? Does have a lot of history of services
Hey guys is it worth to buy the 2005 Audi A4 3.0V6 TDI QUATTRO with 315.246 km?
Great video thank you so much! I reserved a 2003 2.0 FSI Manual at 130k km - Went for a test drive sounds perfectly fine and drives perfectly fine. Body looks ok only in the interior some of the plastic parts are worn off. Would you recommend me to check anything else?? thanks!
Some things to look for:
-check the coolant when the engine is cold, open the coolant reservoir cap and smell the coolant-you should not smell or see oil in the coolant - that can indicate serious problems
-the oil and the coolant should be topped up
-check the brake fluid as well - it should be bright yellow, if it's dark then it was not changed for a long time
-the engine should be really smooth on idle without strange noises
-The car should ride smoothly without some vibrations or strange clunking, rattling, squeaking noises from the suspension, it's good to open the windows and listen for these noises at lower speed on bad quality roads
-check the paintjob-it should look the same on all the body panels
-check the gaps between the body panels they have to be even on both sides
-check the screws which are holding the doors-on the door hinges, they have to be intact without damaged paint
-and check all the electronics
Does anyone have the 1.8T 163HP engine on the B7? And if yes, what are some common problems other than the ones in the video?
Whats bad about the 2.5 tdi?
2006 a4 3.2 quattro..is the rear main timing chain cover known for oil leak? I am not talking about the 2 upper timing chain covers behind the head
Luis Cartagena the 3.2FSI is a shit engine witch can fuck you heavy if you have bad luck
Same for the 3.0 ASN in the B6
awesome videos very helpful keep them coming:)
Is the problem for the 2.0Tdi engine in the Commonrail engine og Pump-jet one?
The PD one is the one to avoid apparently
Im in college right now and was looking at an 08 Audi A4 with 113,000 miles (here in the U.S.) what are your thoughts? Is it really a bad car? Is is really expensive to maintain?
Great video. I have acquired an b6 2003 a4 1.8t quattro tiptronic. The car only has 50k miles or 95k km, but it is 17 years old.... Should the timing belt be changed? Due to the age of the belt.
yes it should be changed
I'm planning on buying a b7 3.2l with 160k km on it. Any recommendations on what to look for? Thanks for the video, super helpful!
it is overall a good engine, but because of the direct injection system you should definitely use only high quality fuel and change the oil in the engine after max 10 000 km
-it can have sometimes problem with the timing chain, in this case you will hear a rattling noise at cold start
The car should ride smoothly whitout some vibrations or strange noises. Also check the paintjob-it should look the same on all the body panels. Don't forget to check the regualar maintance history too.
The last things:
-change the coolant fluid every 2 years /after buying
-change the brake fluid every 2 years /after buying
06 2.0t fwd reliable?
Should of seen that sooner when I got the b6
Hi and thanks for sharing! I have a 2007 A4 3.0L Cabrio. Got her last February with 92,800 miles and she drives as if brand new. The only issue I've had with her was a result of my ignorance when filling her tank the first time after I bought her. Having had only American cars and an obvious issue with muscle memory, I used 87 Octane in her. HUGE MISTAKE!!! Check Engine light went all berserker. The Manual says you 'can' use it, though not recommended. I Totally botched my spark plugs which cost me about $200.00 to replace but that's a price you pay when switching to a German car and not thinking. LOL. Here's what caught me most about her: She's 13 years old and ALL the Options work perfectly! Thanks again for you video! -Mark
Mark William Darus what fuel do you use in yours? I'm researching buying an Audi and would like to know ahead of time.
Peder Morrill You have to use Premium or 93 Octane gas! I asked a B7 owner that came inside a restaurant I used to work at, he said he used 93, however 1/4 of times he went down to 89. He said he was the only owner, the car had 110K miles and never had an issue! However with a bit of common sense, stay with what is best so problems have a less chance of occurring! I as well am thinking of buying an A4! Good luck!
2007 A4 and she is 13 years old? 😂
A tank full of 87 octane should not cause you any grief. More than likely your plugs were toast before you filed her up.
Hi sir I have an audi A41.8t bfb engines some thieves got into my audi removed the back seat and took all the wiring also the rhs drivers side floor they made a big hole and stripped the wires all I can see below the steering wheel on the floor is polystyrene when I open the bonnet they cut all the wire to the coil packs I wanted to know why did they remove the back seat and what wire was there also why did they bust the floor of the drivers side floor also where can I buy the entire wiring and harness systems please help me
you can find used wirings for sale on: ebay.com

For big city driving the Audi A4 front will drive. Is a much better, maybe in a state or area? With multiple seasons, the quarter is great. Set for the big city at fine front will drive all night as much better.
Contemplating getting a b7 a4 or b6 passat with either a 2.0t or 3.6, to replace my 2004 acura tl
Did you decide??
More info about 2.0 TFSI : they also have major problems with oil pumps.
2.0 TDI engines have problems with cylinder heads, they seem to have cracks. You can find out this when You loose cooling systems fluid.
I had these angines so and I had these problems as well. You can find this info in most of the forums as well.
early models 05 to 08 had common engine parts failures and were granted extended warranty because of a major lawsuit , common problems also include front suspension - control arms
Hey brother I recently got one and I have a problem with the acceleration I press the gas pedal and it doesn’t wanna go it hesitates and the car shakes any ideas on what it might be
That sounds like an air supply issue. It could be as simple as leaves in your air filter.
Thank you I will check the air filter 👍🏼👍🏼
Have a 2007 a4 s line 2.0t when I press the gas t doesn’t wanna go all the way it hesitates and the car shakes like it’s so weak , any ideas on what it might be ?
Fuel filter change
I have strippped the engine of my A4 B6 2.5tdi 180nhp quattro (AKE), any advice on what engine parts to check or replace?
Thanks
check the camshafts, they can be worn, pay attention to the timing belt & water pump interval, and check/eventually clean the egr valve
Your kind expert tips are highly appreciated, thanks again!
so which? 1.9 tdi 85KW is the best? cuz i planning to buy it
yes, if you don't need more power, then it's the best/most reliable choice from the diesel engines
is a 2005 B7 A4 3.2L V6 quattro with 150k on the clock a decent buy?
How much?
I also wouldn't recommend the 2.7TDi cuzz it's based on the 2.5TDi. It's a bit better but not that much, it also has some big problems.
PS: the problems when we're buying cars isn't how we should maintain the car but how it was maintained in the past. This means if it wasn't maintained properly (especially the automatic transmission every 60k km) you're going to have a hard time after you bought the car. I recommend to always buy only manual transmission. Have a nice day :-)
The 2.7 is a smaller version of the 3.0
Both are EA896.
The 2.5 is not related to them. Other than the 4 valves per cylinder and some block similarities.
A new sub thank you brother.
thanks !
Does anyone know if the Diesel engines were sold in the US? I can’t find any listings!
None were sold with diesel engines in US
Hello, Thank You for putting this video up. I did not see You mention the 4.2 l V8 engine. I am looking to buy a 2004 S4 V8 4.2. Do You have any advice please?
Hi
the engine in this S4 is reliable-so no major problems, but you can expect leaks and regular issues like spark plugs, sensors or bad water pump
Other things to look for:
-the engine should be really smooth on idle without strange noises
-The car should ride smoothly without some vibrations or strange clunking, rattling, squeaking noises from the suspension, it's good to open the windows and listen for these noises at lower speed on bad quality roads
-check the paintjob-it should look the same on all the body panels
-test all the electronics including the rooftop, check for water leaks/moisture in the interior
-buy a car with regular maintenance history
-change the coolant and brake fluid after 2 years/or after buying and change the oil regularly
Also it's extremely important to let the cold engine warm up-lower RPM for the first 15-20 km / 10-12 mi
Thank You very much for taking the time to help me. I appreciate You ;-)
The biggest problem with the 4.2l is the timing chain but thats a matter of luck
It can break below 100.000km or last a million km
Its really expensive to change (4000-5000€ in germany)
I'm thinking of buying a 2005 b6 avant 1.8t Quattro 130k miles taken care off for 5,000 silver 6 speed Manuel what you think?
it's a good choice, and if you do the regular maintance properly then it will whitstand a lot
my dad had a a4 2.5 TDI Cvt gearbox on a convertible
there was only like 500 made and he had to get rid of he’s and he can’t find another one anywhere
55 plate
So, this is why 2.0 TDI + multitronic B7 are cheap as chips?
Im looking for a A4 b6 cabrio, but I'm nor sure what petrol engine to choose... the 1.8T, 2.4 v6 or 3.0 v6... please I need advice for the best engine choice of those 3
I just got a 2003 A4 with the 3.0l v6, only had it a couple days but its solid and runs great!
Personally I'd go for either of the v6 less to go wrong
Hows a 1.6 audi a4 from 2004?
Any information on Audi A4 1.6 petrol 2008 ? Plz give some advise as im thinking to buy this car. Thank you!
I got 2.0 alt 131km b7 and after 200k i have 0 problems and oil consumption is very low (100ml 1k km). I heared some ppl had problems with oil but i belive its because of long life service.
I have a b6 with that engine and oil consumption is out of this world. It’s like 1l/800-1k km. I don’t know why it this happens and I also noticed that it’s les during winter time. It’s annoying and frustrating, besides that the car runs fine. I think it’s some sort of factory issue with the piston rings.
Is that the nom turbo 20v 2.oi engine?
It's this 2.0i 131hp is good engine!
I have a 07 2.0tfsi, start stocking up on oil it burns it. 1qt every 4 tanks. Ingot my Audi with 58k on it. I'll go back to older models they're entirely more reliable. This was a slap in the face compared to what I'm use to. After this Audi it will be the last.
78missredrum this is common and can be done by audi under warranty my friend had a new engine put in by audi free, he has an 2008 q5 tfsi. Still follow the service guide after as not all part's were replaced and the timing belt tensioner failed and slipped a tooth on the chain resulting in a big bill that audi would not pay.
12031981gb yea the 2008 audis got the recall. It's crazy because I have the same engine LOL. You have to pay for the test to be conducted to determine if it eats oil. They try to say this is normal, but my 2001 beetle is a 1.8t and hardly eats anything in comparison. I think Audi dropped the ball and it is too costly a fix.
78missredrum I have an audi a4 b7 and don't have that problem
78missredrum the 1.8T in your beetle is also a audi engine lol
I really wanted a 3,0 TDI, but having to take apart the entire front of the car when It comes time for maitenence really put me off.. maybe I'll get a 1,8T
My 3.0TDI is over 12yo with 240kkm and bumper hasn't been off a single time.
B6 1.9 tdi Quattro, 450 k , still running like new 😊
Searching since half a year for a decent B6 avant 1.9tdi quattro, still no luck😭
But have fun with yours😅
Exist an audi b7 2008 s line only front wheel drive?
yes
Just bought 2008 A4 b7 s line 90, 000km. Service up to date. What should I be looking for in terms of servicing/ repairs/ replacement? Drives really well and looks sexy and would like to keep it that way if you could advise please.
-change the engine oil+filter every 10 000km /after buying
-change the coolant fluid every 2 years /after buying
-change the brake fluid every 2 years /after buying
-change the engine air filter every 60 000 km
Also it's extremely important to let the cold engine warm up-low RPM for the first 15-20 km and just then you can push it really hard. And use only high qality fuel.
different car review thanks much appreciated
dunloplego which engine?
1.9 TDI 130pd is the best one if your looking to get big miles and reliability 👌
Nah don't get a diesel
Vw Tdi is the best Diesel engine on the market in cars, along with BMW’s diesels
Lee, you are correct. Mine is at 530k kilometers now and going smooth as new.
Hi I'm about to buy a 2008 2.0T sline 120000 miles on it what recommendations or advice you can give me and if is a good car ?
it is a good choice, just make sure that it has regular maintance history
-The car should ride smoothly whitout some vibrations or strange noises
-The engine has to be smooth and quiet on idle without some strange rattling sounds
-Also check the paintjob-it should look the same on all the body panels
-change the oil regulalry and use high quality fuel (because of the direct injection)
-change the coolant and brake fluid after 2 years/or after buying
I’m late but if you bought the car already or not then common failure for the b7 is back timing chain cover leaks , rear main seal leak , Motor mounts leaking hydraulic fluid and high pressure pumps .
After you buy it as soon as you can, change all the filters in the cars and all the pumps (maybe not the fuel pump), and change all the liquids (steering, braking, coolant, windscreen, oil change, auto transmission if you have it), get a new clutch set and have the turbo checked and you will have a brand new car if there isn't any hidden big problems.
I just bought a 2008 A4 b7, 97000 mi. I love it but hate the silver color. I really wanna do some upgrades or something to get my mind off the color
sinamen516 vinyl wrap it ;)
i have b7 2.0tdi no problems at all
Have, 2.0L I swear I had and still have all the issues he says
Is Audi A4 B7 1.9 TDI fitted with DPF please? It is EU4.
You can check the option codes on the data sticker in the spare wheel area - if you see 7GN anywhere, the car does not have a DPF, if I’m not mistaken.
I have A4 2002 1.9 TDI 410 000km still going strong changing oil every 10 000km
Could I buy a 2006 A4 B7 with 180,000 miles on it but maintained well?
Dats a lot of miles. For any car. I would recommend not to buy. Even if well maintained.
Its 2.0 Tdi 170 hp that bad?
Yes
Anyone here have any experience in owning a B7 3.0 tdi s line Quattro V6? Thinking of buying one and I've found an amazing example of one for sale that's been looked after exceptionally well. Are they good cars?
I have one, it’s an amazing car. 2005 I’m the second owner 190,000 kms still drives like new
@@korrie327 I've already bought it mate and absolutely love the car and how it drives. Cost a decent amount to maintain mind.
Yeah they do, my window washer hasn’t worked in mine since I got it, think I have to rip the front number off to locate the pump :( nothings to easy when working on them, but they are great cars, another thing, does yours have the cd a tape play stereo? I could do with an aux cord but don’t know how to go about sorting one out
@@korrie327 no mine hasn't mate. The previous owner took out the OEM stereo and fitted a Sony aftermarket one in. I'm trying to sort out my tyre pressure valves atm I keep loosing pressure on my tyres. And I'm not looking forward to having to replace the injectors as they're apparently a common fault. Also no looking forward to replacing my timing chain.
i want the b7 2.0 turbo non quattro from my uncle. it has 230k km on the clock. am i making a safe purchase? the car seems to run fine and it been to all services.
if it has automatic gearbox then I would not recommend it, because the non quattro models have either a manual or the not very reliable multitronic automatic transmission
so if it has a manual gearbox and if it was maintianed properly then it can be a good choice
thank you alot.. its a manual box :)
Found a a4 b6 1.8T 150cv with 150.000Km for around 4000€ on inmaculate condition, opinions?
Quattro?
Was planning on buying my friends audi a4 b6 2.0fsi, the check engine light doesnt go off and sometime the traction control and abs light comes on and then randomly dissapears again, any advice?
Get an OBD BlueDriver to check what the codes are for the check engine light.
Yeah it’s most likely the sensor found in the front right side of the engine. It’s. Cheap fix.
Absolutely Right 1.9 TDI 👌
1.9tdi is the best engine
I agree it's a great engine and I was sure that was the one for me but the 1.8 turbo is a beautiful machine.
These cars need incredibly expensive service all the time.
The "High quality" interior gets ugly schratces, the rubber paint wears of panels, switches etc.
They are horrible rust buckets here in Denmark. A 15 year old model, with two or more paint jobs still has rust everywhere, completely unacceptable.
Incredible how so many rich Audi owners think this is a good car.
But Audi's are a very nice ride though :-)
What about 1.8T?
Is this a good engine?
How many km can it last without major problems?
You should always expect issues buying aged Audi's. The question is if you're willing to fix it yourself and spend big dough doing so.
Check out the bigger Audi forums, read up on the model you wish to go for, and spend MANY hours doing it.
I had a '97 1.8T B5 and absolutely loved it. B5, B6, and B7's are all amazing, and you will love yours too. And hate it, because you will have problems with them.
@@z.karlstrom1453 Thank you!
Audi a4 b7 2005- model 2006 , 2.0 tdi automatic , what is the most reliable engines codes ???
I would avoid the 2.0 TDI from those years, the 1.9 TDI is a lot more reliable
@@differentcarreview-dcr hi there. Hope you are doing well. What about the audi 2007 2.0 tdi, 143hp.. I don't know much about cars so i would really appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks 😊
I have a v late 07 b7 and never ever 1 issue it's on 160k miles and runs like a dream still.
thats what I'm hoping for.same model,3.0D quattro,111000miles
Colin Parks hey what do you do for regular maintenance?
Same here! im almost at 170k and only issue ever was my battery needs to be replaced and my fan belt....
my parents 07/08 B7 is a 2.0tdi 16V engine and has 243k miles on it. Recently changed the injectors and turbo, nothing else. I guess Audi fixed the 2.0tdi engine problems with time
Nice I hope mine will be great to with much issues :D
Great!
Hello Friend im about to buy a used audi a4 b7 3.0 tdi v6 233ps what do you think about it? is it worth or not? Thanks
Hi
It's a good engine, however it all depends on the actual condition of the car/engine. Check mainly the injectors-which can go wrong if the previous owner used bad quality fuel and the timing chain which can be more worn mainly if the car has more than 200 000 km-in this case you can hear rattling noise after cold start. The engine should be smooth on idle and there shouldn't be grey, black or lots of white smoke from the exhaust.
The last thing is-be prepared for the maintance costs, so keep some more money for the additional repairs.
did you buy it? if yes tell me how it runs is it fast cause i want to buy one too, thanks.
