Queen is never boring. And because there are so many elements in each song, repetition makes it get even better.
Haha right? Well said!
John Deacon's bass line... Best ever...
😁
I burst out laughing at the autotune question ... Aidan's expression and response was hilarious. (And spot on.)
I know! I predict a bunch of us old timers are heading to shrinks watching young reactors pondering the use of auto tune!
Waltz, ragtime, callipso, soul, jazz, rock, metal, lullaby, folk etc. The range is unrivalled. The quality is awesome. Four amazing musicians with different tastes coming together and creating musical genius.
Don't forget classical/Baroque, Music hall and pop!
Also the beatles definitely rival if not beat them when it comes to range.
Brian used the Deaky amp on this. This accounts for some of the unique sound he had in this song.
Interesting!
Try Seaside Rendevous or Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon, very 20s 30s esq' Freddie actually sings with a bucket on his mic to get that very old type of sound on Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon. Hence in the film Bohemian Rhapsody when they are first doing their demo you see them with coins and the bucket swinging on the mic...that part depicted how experimental they were with different sounds using very odd things....including thimbles on their fingers tap dancing on the production desk.
Yes Brian May said in an interview the whole band had such fun coming up with sounds for seaside.
Wow,I never thought anyone would understand this piece like me. Been listening to this album since 77. The millionaire waltz still blows me away!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
More Queen (of course!) and Aidan is correct, Queen has something for everyone in their catalog. If you don't like Queen, you just haven't found it yet. Some Queen suggestions: Innuendo, Man on the Prowl, Breakthru, 39, Nevermore, One Vision and Keep Passing the Open Windows... With 15 albums, there are MANY songs and genres to choose from.
The March Of The Black Queen, please, great reaction
Thanks for the recommendation.
Yes! You will love it. It's crazy.
If I could only take one song to live out my days on a deserted island, I would take Side Black from Queen II. 😊
Aiden is absolutely right. Queen is my niche and I have been digging into the Classic Queen songs. I receive so many comments from subs :"I have never heard this song before."- Yes, I know why. Because you have most likely become a Queen fan AFTER THAT MOVIE (don't get me started on this subject) and never looked into the beginnings and where they came from.-- I truly enjoyed your reaction, thank you very kindly ❣
Us old Queenies don’t forget. We saw Queen live. They had their own genre they were so eclectic and Freddie’s four octave range was powerful. They were incredible and quite experimental but no auto tune or prerecorded tracks. These were professional musical artists -the Mozarts of the 20th century.
I was fortunate to have seen Queen three times with Freddie 😉
@@johnnie3Chords where? (Jealous, btw)
@@robbinvanderzwart7452 My very first concert was Queen Nov 23,1977, I also saw Queen & Billy Squier , row#1 in front of John , the final time was row 4 or 5 in front of Brian on the final American tour for Hot Space , all were at The Spectrum, Philly 👍
@@johnnie3Chords cool
Freddie's pitch on "come back to me" immediately following "counting the hours days by day", especially the way he hits the "me" and then falls out of it. This track has so many Queen moments: Brian's waltz on guitar, the drums kicking into the 4/4 section, John's bass interacting playfully with the piano. But that phrase is worth a dozen Bohemian Rhapsodies for me.
As a life long Queen fan I have to echo Aiden's comments. Queens genius (although evident in their "popular" songs) is truly found in their "hidden gems".
Thank you,....love your reactions...Queen were a genre...that’s the only to put it....about your shirt Aidan...Freddie was a graphic designer...he designed that Queen logo...look closely at it...he put the Zodiac signs of the four of them in it......he designed coats for his sister...he danced with The Royal Ballet....he modelled as a groom (Jane Seymour was his bride) in Fashion Aid...both of those vids are on CZcams....the ballet dancer Wayne Sleep put it very well, he said “Freddie was an event”... in my opinion he was an all round genius🤩
I consider this song to be the most representative of Queen at the time - like an encapsulation
You should definitely check out “The March Of The Black Queen” or “The Fairy Feller’s Masterstroke” from the Queen II album - technically complex but highly melodic and musical. I reckon you’d both approve.
One of the BEST Queen reactions, EVER:
…”PEOPLE FORGET HOW EXCELLENT A PIANO PLAYER FREDDIE MERCURY WAS”
and
“HE’S 20 DIFFERENT SINGERS IN ONE.”💕
P.S. You can get Fred’s leotard on Amazon!
When you have 2 Mozart's in a band backed by a sonic volcano then you are on a winner!
You need to listen to Adian, more Queen, please! ❤
Haha 😂 I also have entire playlist dedicated to Queen reactions on this channel.
I was told by a vocal instructor in England that Freddie, Brian and Rodger would all sing each harmony note directly into the mic, in unison. They would then repeat that process 3 times for each individual note, bounce all of those voices down to 2 tracks, and then do the same for the next harmony part. On top of that, their voices just so happen blend perfectly together. And then throw in the tones from Brian's guitars. I am absolutely obsessed with the Queen sound!
Deaky is so awesome on bass in this song. So melodic in the beginning then chugging away mid-song, 12:02. Just wow. Great reaction, guys.
I love the discussion style reaction - especially when it involves musicians who share their knowledge and point out things I would never notice. Thanks, guys! I'm here for it! Back in the seventies and eighties I just knew that I loved Queen, I had no idea how truly gifted they each were.
Discussion based reactions is what makes this channel different than all of the other channels out there. I'm happy you learned something new from our nerdy brains 😂
@@JeffreyHackReacts There is no detail too small when it comes to Queen. 😄 I have watched hours of music theorists talk about BoRhap without ever once getting bored. 🤓 This was a great reaction.
Like Piano Man 😂👑
Deacon! What a bassplay is going on there under this Waltz? You might have mentioned :)
Thank you ! John’s bass is sublime here !
Was there ever as more luscious intro than that bass and piano duet?
Now that is a bass player.. that is how to play the bass
Yesss!!! Greatest Band of all time!!!
Thank you for this reaction 👑❤
Of course 😁
Such a great Queeniest of Queen song ;) Enjoyed your comments guys. Also loved the speed of the auto tune denial. It's almost hard to believe that most of the time it was just four immensely talented guys and nothing else. Nothing else needed. We're so lucky they found each other.
I really love these songs that have a sort of romantic, old fashioned feel layered on top of a soft rock mood, then the unexpected rock punch up. Freddie was a genius in his blending of music, nothing was too dangerous for him to try, Queen rarely played it safe. Thank you for your reaction. If you have not yet done March Of The Black Queen, you truly must. That song is amazing. More Queen?? Yes, Please. I can never get enough and seeing people react and break it down is always so much fun. I was born in the 1950s so Queen has been a staple for most of my life and I forget how each of their songs hit me the first time I heard them, so it is good to relive it through the reactions of others.
John can really do a mean triangle
Love love it. Queen is so unique and exquisite. The greatest band ever. Great reaction 🙂
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the reaction 😁
I love when men fall in love with Freddie. He’s irresistible. Of course it’s the whole sound that you are so passionate about. I see it in your face and I know how you feel. There isn’t a day that goes by without listening to one of their beauties. I’ll never get tired of them.
.
Love everything about Queen. Love this song and the variety they can bring to rock music. So glad I managed to get to see them with Freddie. Nothing else comes close
Back in the 70s I used to call Queen’s music Aristocratic Rock.
Well said 👍🏻… They are ….
Everybody can find at least one song in the Queen's huge catalog that fits to the taste. Great reaction guys I really enjoyed it, thank you!
"Who's ready for some more Queen reactions?" Oooh OOooh ME! ME!
the fact freddie said he wasnt very good at piano really under estimated his own abilities
You need to hear "My Melancholy Blues" by Queen.
Queen is GOAT
Aidan is brilliant 😊✌🏼
Oh Yeah!!!!!!!! I saw them in 81, I think. We were of bent minds as we took the subway to the concert. A friend of ours passed out, we could not wake him so we left at the stop. We saw Thomas the next day and he had a ticket to a Queen concert on the previous night... with the stub still on it!!!!!!!!!!. He had it laminated and put it on his back pack. OH!! the hilarity and pathos.
So wonderful seeing your appreciation of this amazing song. It has always been one of my favorites. I see Bohemian Rhapsody and Millionaire Waltz as siblings. Millionaire Waltz is the overlooked but more interesting of the two.
Very true! They have very similar vibes.
Freddie was bringing ballet to the masses
Looove your reaction ❤️ Please do more of queen. Freddie had many voices (baritone, soprano, rock), try 'The Golden Boy (Early version Freddie's demo vocal)
Freddy Mercury and Queen are beautiful and amazing!! Awesome!!👏👏👏🔥🔥 Great reaction! More Queen is always welcome!!❤️❤️
Love Freddie & Queen forever - Freddie was the greatest & the best ever xx
Talented Freddie love it
😁
Hard not to have all the harmonies of the studio version but the are always so awesome live!!!!
A couple more tracks for your consideration might be ~
Seaside Rendevous
Dreamers Ball
Cool Cat
Melancholy Blues
Queen has always been my favorite band and Millionaire Waltz is by far my FAVORITE Queen song!! Everyone always reacts to their popular songs and never the lesser known ones. So glad you pulled this one out. It is perfection!!! ❤ What Brian May does with his guitar is phenomenal but no one ever takes the time to really listen to the bass guitar on this song. It’s incredible. If you ever get an opportunity to listen to the bass part isolated it is incredible in my opinion. John Deacon doesn’t always get the love he deserves. Thank you for sharing this, been waiting for someone to appreciate this brilliant damn song! 😂 Another great lesser known Queen song to give a listen to is Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy.
Wow, 🥰 beautiful sweet Freddie ❤️ Freddie Mercury is simply unique 🤩 liked subscribed 😁 more queen reactions please 😍 maybe you can react to seaside rendezvous 🤩
Glad you enjoyed the video 😁
I’ve seen many reactors, rightly so, tell people to listen to Queen on headphones to experience the panning. Makes me laugh cuz back in the day we listened to music on big ass speakers and nobody had headphones. 😂
"Doing Alright" from the first one is one of my faves as well as "My Fairy King"
Thanks for your genuine, enthusiastic appreciation you have for Queen! I’ve been a fan since 1974 and still love them as much as I did back then. Their catalogue is amazing, and second to none. ❤
One of my most favorite Queen song and worship John bass work, always.
I have been a Queen fan since 1974. Saw them in 77 with Thin Lizzy in support and in 1980 where i had front row tickets for all of $10.00! They are my favorite band. I recommend anything by them, yes, even anything from Hot Space. Another band I would like to recommend to you is Uriah Heep. Both bands are very similar. Especially Queen's first 4 albums. Enjoy the music of Queen and rock on!!
Thank you for the reccomendation and for sharing your passion of Queen!
More Queen please! 39’ please 🙏
BOH RAP was the song THE CROWD sang after Live Aid was over AS the they exited Wembley Stadium. It was amazing. I’ve tried to find a copy of it online and haven’t found one yet.
My new favourite Queen song!!
Brian's Guirarre was the "5th" Member of the group. ❤❤❤❤
An example of why I protest when people say live Queen is ALWAYS better live. I don’t think this song was ever done justice in a live version. The piano and outstanding bass are too difficult to really appreciate. And the studio version has such a “punch you in the face” feel when Brian and Roger come in halfway through the song. This version makes the song feel more like…fluff.
yes, hidden gems. especially on the two albums "day ..." and "night ...".
The more you know
I was the guy WAY back in the day that when someone said "I don't like Queen", I'd turn them on to something by them I knew they'd like - just needed to know their tastes. Worked every time - glad you addressed that. Still true today. Great reaction guys!
The baselines are amazing, I think the bass player hits a triangle in that guitar solo. It's like he's singing to you
How can you put baselines (incorrect), then follow it up with 'I think the bass' (correct). Make your mind up please!
@@CAdams6398 what ever, autocorrect
So so good. It was beyond abbey road.
1 of the musical wonders.
😊👍
I watched your reaction again because I love your passion
This song kicks ass on Bohemian Rhapsody all over the tape. It is a superiour song.
🎵👍
All hail the Queen!! Thanks guys!! Other songs - Seaside Rendezvous, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, Good Company …
My Fairy King! March of the Black Queen!
Please check out Fly Away, Cool Cat, and In the Lap of the Gods!! Btw Freddie, with Queen, also could sing and did a tribute song for John Lennon. Check it out. It’s astonishing as he picked up Lennon phrasing and breath style.
Love your shirt that Freddie drew
Aidan has great knowledge of Queen , I could sit down and talk to him for days about Queen .
My all time favorite song in
" Some Day One Day" sung and written by Brian .
Absolutely more Queen please, I'd love to see you do a reaction too Somebody to love live at Montreal 1981 and the recorded version & Ogre Battle, really you can't go wrong with anything by Queen.
I do have a reaction to it, but it's an older reaction on this channel where I may be talking over the music video.. either way, enjoy 😁
czcams.com/video/cxihwGRwNqw/video.html
May I suggest Somebody to Love from the 1981 Montreal concert? Or Who Wants to Live Forever from Wembley. Their Live Aid set. Saw them four times in concert in the 70’s-80’s. My ears are still ringing. 🤣
A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races are titles of two of the Marx brother films. The music on these two Queen albums fits with the style and era of those two movies, but was made contemporary by the addition of rock to the songs.
White Queen is the best ever Freddie-piano/ Brian-guitar duet ever-live performance please.
Yeah, people haven't heard their best music, especially their second album!🥰
Try GOOD OLD FASHIONED LOVER BOY it's a great song
Comparing this to Piano Man is just an insult. Queen Forever! 👨🏻👑
OMG! BRIAN PLAYED THE RED SPECIAL AND HE WAS LOOKING AT THE AUDIENCE! HE F-ing SHREDDED THAT SOB my goosebumps have goosebumps and I forgot to breathe
Oh i agree with Aidan! 🥰 wait... what was i talking about?
Queen has been my Religion and Brian my God since late 74, my first album" A Night at the Opera ", first concert Queen @ The Spectrum 11/23/ 77 , saw Queen three times, all with Freddie , once in the first row , once in the fourth row , the first time was 2nd level , section 9 , row 1
What is so sad (not the word I want) is the fact that Freddie thought he was such an amateur pianist and Sir Dr Grandpa May had no confidence in his playing
Iv been listening to queen when all the albums were new release..awsome to see youn men enjoying the music I grew up with in this world we created👍
I love playing this on piano!
Nice!!
Haha, you’re gonna get beat up for your “autotune” question! Lol
Your mate gets it ...would you react to who needs you and its late back to back please ..the first is a deacy track followed by an epic may track ...the alums read like a fine painting as tracks merged and some tracks esam to go so well with others even tho written by different members . Then suddenly a shock track out of nowhere
They used pitch correct on
Face It Alone " they ONLY Queen song I have EVER hated .
I have people telling me I'm not really a Queen fan fan because I hate Face It Alone . Anyone that has ever known me knows I'm a Queen loyalist of nearly half a century!
please do „the prophet song“ and after that „white man“ and after that „who needs you“ and after that „mustapha“ and after that „fight from the inside“ together with „more of that jazz“ and „loser in the end“ (last three sung by roger taylor) and after that „it‘s late“ and if you will the one song which is dedicated to their hated manager back then „death on two legs“. if you do those then you recognise how diverse they were. voicewise his most damaging song could be „gimme the prize“ i guess. god, there are many more phenomenal songs by queen i could mention no one ever speaks about because they‘ve got too many greatest hits....good for them but really sad for their other greats which are never heard of. they even have soul, funk and dance. try „dancer“, „back chat“ and „cool cat“. there‘s also a song for john lennon which is called „life is real“. a folk-song about time travellers named „´39“. a very mellow voice of fred with „my melancholy blues“. a very great and somewhat odd blues song with „see what a fool i‘ve been“. and a song that exceeds the complexity of the younger song bohemian rhapsody easily is „the march of the black queen“. their song wich is a nice description of a painting of the tate gallery in london is „the fairy feller‘s master stroke“. the list goes on and on and on and on...... if you know a good part of their huge catalogue you are bound to come to the conclusion that queen as a band must be one of the best if not „the one“. at least i don‘t know a more versatile band.
Great reaction ❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed the video 😁👍
Nothing like their quirky sense of humor in those days.
😁🎵
I was at this tour for "A DAY at the Races" in the 70s. This album i feel is their best, it has a nice mix of rock, harmonies and styles
😁🤟
Thanks, kids - would love your reaction to the original album version - the harmonies are so lush! So I now see that did this.. (p.s. were you referencing Doors "soft parade" when you said "black parade"? )
Someone has probably already commented, but "My find friend . . ." is a tribute to Marlene Deitrich, the German bombshell from the 40's! Amazing!
I would love to know what Aidens favorite Queen album is. Mine personally is Queen 2.
This song is so good to listen and to dance with your girlfriend/boyfriend
A Day at the Races " was their first self produced album , first without Roy Thomas Baker.
I love this album !
Have him listen to Brighton Rock.
Yessss, Queen was a big influence on My Chemical Romance.
Hence, MCR’s .. Welcome to the Black Parade! 🎉🎊🙌
How low can he go. And how high
You have to ear Innuendo from Innuendo 1991.
