    If you have clutch fan problems there is company out there called "Kit Master" that builds exact replacements that will probably never fail again. I've replaced all my Horton clutches with them and have had great success.

    Justin you were looking into that 587 Pete. That truck has 800,000 + miles and you were talking about an in-frame or close to one. Just fyi, there was a recall on the ISX fuel pumps due to them having ceramic plungers that were known to go to pieces and fall through the cam shaft it runs off of. If your oil filter didn't catch all the pieces the pieces that made it pass the filter would get into the lower bearings and ruin those. Also Paccar has a current recall on the aftertreatment filter can for most ISX exhaust systems $3000, but fully covered by Paccar. Ask the current owner or check that vin# and contact Peterbilt. I know because that was a recent truck I just got out of and bought a 389 with the isx. If you want to chat about it we can figure something out. The mirrors on the 587 have a single arm that when your going down the hwy it causes drag and pulls the top of the door down and creates a lot of wind that comes into the cab. When I had my truck I took it to a body shop to have the doors adjusted to fix that gap issue. Look at the Pete's with the split V- shaped mirror mount. It allows the air to pass through and not cause drag in the top part of the door. My bad for turning this into a story but I thought if you didn't know at least you do now.

    • @zavery1645
      @zavery1645 Před 3 lety +2

      One reason not to run skirts is if you back the trailer down an incline the skirts can bottom out and get messed up. Some say that the fuel savings isn't worth it.

    Hey Justin didn't see you check the fan hub bearing assembly you have to remove the belt to check it and spin it shake it I did not and 3 weeks later the fan hub fell bearing came loose and the fan went through radiator. Its the second time I changed my fan hub the. Plastic connecctor you showed was melted so was mine the second time from the bearing failing on the hub melted that plastic connector trust me it was Expesive lesson $3500.00 with tow bill to my house and me doing the work so you doing long haul could be really costly. If it was me I would change that fan hub to only another $600.00

    What were the symptoms that your fan clutch was failing? I have an issue I think is the fan clutch leaking air… compressor cycles every couple of minutes, but only while driving, no leaks while idling, no psi loss while turned off with or without air to trailer, only while I’m driving. Fan clutch seams to operate just fine, but I can’t think of anything else that uses air ONLY while in motion. Is this something you noticed with your bad fan clutch?
