    Esther Tsang asked "Is it broken if my receiver doesn't light up?"
    In reply to another comment here is the sequence I followed to bind the receiver to the transmitter
    FIRST switch OFF receiver and transmitter
    Check you know where the BIND plug should go on the receiver
    Insert BIND plug in the BIND position on the receiver (still switched OFF)
    Press and hold the BIND button on the transmitter
    With your finger STILL on the BIND button, switch on the transmitter
    Take your finger off the BIND button
    Now switch ON the receiver
    The light should go steady
    Switch OFF the receiver
    Switch OFF the transmitter
    REMOVE the BIND plug from the receiver
    Switch ON the transmitter
    Switch ON the receiver
    They should now be working.
    I am not endorsing these products so I suggest you do your own search as the prices and specifications will vary and the links I used will probably be out of date when you come to read this. I just list the item title and you can cut and paste it into your eBay search. It will probably work on other online stores too.

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  Před 2 lety

      The place you want to avoid putting the receiver is right next to the motor as that could cause interference, other than that you should be OK almost anywhere. Again don't route the aerial past the motor for the same reason.

    Hi. i've got a tamiya esc. when i connect the battery it just keeps beeping and when i plug the receiver ( a new one since the other one shorted out) , i don't see the LED on the receiver light on. what could be the problem?

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  Před 3 lety +1

      I have no experience with Tamiya ESCs. Assuming it works the same as a standard ESC, it will beep until the receiver and transmitter are bound together and the throttle stick is in the middle position (in the case of a car or boat) or the bottom in the case of an aircraft. If the LED on the receiver does not come on, I think I covered that clearly enough in this video. It comes on when it gets power, so it looks like your ESC is not giving it any power. If you have a meter, you could measure the output from the ESC on the plug that goes into the receiver. Alternatively you could connect a 5 volt supply to the relevant tags on the receiver to see if the LED comes on.

      @@ericdeguzman9001 like I said, I have no experience with Tamiya ESCs so you will have to check it's specification. If you say you shorted out the previous receiver then maybe it damaged the ESC at the same time.

    Thank you for this great video. I have connected the servo to channel 3 but servo only turns 35* degree not 90 degree. is it related with the remote. I have seen that with arduino people are able to turn it 90 degrees but i didn't see who can turn 90 degrees with that rc. Could you please advise? Thanks in advance.

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  Před 3 lety +1

      Check the specification of your servo, they are built for different purposes with different amounts of rotation. Try it in a different channel and see if it is the same.

      @@Bricksfaction great video link, handy information for people who want that facility. You might like this one too czcams.com/video/z_JjkhC-gx0/video.html Back to your question, you have now confirmed that the servo does rotate 90° in a different channel, so it looks like channel 3 is limited for some reason. Have you checked your transmitter. Mine has trim adjustments to increase or reduce the throws. Other transmitters have even more options.
      I have just set up an FS GR3E receiver to test the differences between the 3 channels and I do get slightly less travel on channel 3. It is only a little less, so maybe 80° compared to 90°. I will do a video on that subject later.

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  Před 2 lety +1

      Do you mean a cooling fan? As long as it does not draw too much current and is the right voltage it should be OK. VCC is where you would plug a battery in, if you were using a separate supply, rather than the normal feed via your ESC cable, so the + and - are common rails down all those tags.

      This video reply is answering a question I was asked by Esther Tsang. I am explaining you need to check your battery and you are getting power from your ESC and you have your plug the right way round. Very basic stuff before you assume your receiver is faulty. If you are completely new to RC you may not know these basic steps.

    Hi, I am a rookie and am asking for some help 🙄. I just bought 2x MJX 14210 and ti's crazy fast so I am buying 2x FS GR3C & GR3e to tame it down :). Original receiver got 5 slots, 3 channels and 2x VCC for two fans ( on ESC and Motor ) . I am asking if I can conect both fans on one VCC slot on GR3e ? Thanks in advance

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The + and - pins on all 4 rows are a common rail. In other words all 4 + are connected together and all 4 - are connected together. The power supply comes from your ESC via the BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit, usually incorporated within the ESC), so the question is "Can your ESC provide enough power for the two fans". If you are using the original ESC provided with the car, you would need to check it's spec to ensure it is providing the right voltage for the receiver. I would say 99% of ESCs would be right but I have no experience with the MJX range. I am assuming the fans are simple 2 wire units, so you could plug the second one in the spare slot as it would only be using the + and - tags, Just don't reverse the plug or the - would go to the signal tag. PS. I am not sure why you would think changing the transmitter and receiver would make any difference to the car's performance, assuming you are not changing the motors, ESCs, or batteries. Ah! I guess you mean you have more control over the settings than the MJX controller 👍👍👍👍 Good luck 😁😁

      @@GrandadIsAnOldMan well thanks, that was quick, btw, ima granpa too. From Slovenia. Yeah you reccon right, GR3C will give me limitation of the power to run and tame MJX-es down & Dual the steer CH to reduce angle at high speed drives. Fyi, it's a great RC just a bit too powerfull to control. The original radio got the throttle trim button but it only does a kind of ballance between forward-stop-reverse trigger position. ( interesting, original WLToys 124017 V8 ( version 2 ) radio got throttle trim, which does exactly what I require, set the motor power anywhere between 0 & 100 % ) Actually I am running the RC's on 3S, not for high speed but to reduce Amps spent for the same power required&applied so original 25 Amps ESC will llikely ''hold'' two simple 2x thinwired fans from ESC through the receiver, I mean, what could it ''eat'', like 0,2 Amps per fan ? Anyways, ESC remains the same to power the motor, servo, leds and same two fans, so I think everything should be ''sound''. 1 & 2 are standard throttle & stear, 3 is led's and 4th slot I'll use for 2 fans connected parallel. ( actually as if it was connected to 4&5th slot since it's a permanent +/- common rail as you told me.) The fans on ESC & Motor are permanent on, no temp sensor switch between it. Can't wait for the GR's to arrive. Thanks again.
