Hey hi it's been a while! I've been wanting to force my mom to play Minecraft for months so finally here's the video of me teaching her redstone LOL. It follows more like a convoluted tutorial imma be honest...

I once played with my mom on a halloween world on ps4 and only thing she liked about minecraft was destroying blocks (we were in creative mode), she didn't like tnt destroying, she liked manually destroying them just by clicking R2 (RT on Xbox or Left mouse button)
I almost became bored over time but the GD music kept me here 💀

yeah while i am a redstoner myself i wouldnt try to sell the game by teaching someone redstone 😅 then again she did seem excited when the 3x3 door opened and closed correctly :)

This makes me feel dumb for not being able to make a 3x3 piston door after building elevators and farms and all sorts of other things 😂

I honestly feel like just learning redstone for 7 weeks now...
just learn a torch tower (thats just what i call the redstone torch thing) and then learn: (OR, XOR, Half-AND, and lastly: Full-AND) the basic computer circuits then after learning computer circuits you learn how to place them in minecraft and then connect them with quasi connectivity and normal connections, and then make a double piston extender on the bottom or top. And then you're done!

This was delightful! Your mom probably learned more redstone here than I learned in my first year fiddling with the stuff in like 2012. Great job CraftyMastermom!

in bedrock we have soft inversion which is more intuitive and allows impossibly compact circuits

This PROVES you can learn anything if you try hard enough, no matter your age. A lot of people nope out of redstone, some just nope out of a lot of things because "too old", but you're never too old for anything!
Also your mom is actually wonderful for sitting down with you and doing this. Huge props lol
Yes older people CAN learn new things but it causes a lot of pain because of the nature of neuroplasticity. Have you noticed that ur parents tend to remember much more than you when U were younger? That's due to neuroplasticity, older people (as long as they don't have althzheimers) have much better memory than younger people but learning is harder. The neuro paths in a brain solidify over time, become stronger, which means recalling memories is a lot easier than as a child ur brain is shaping over and over and U tend to 'forget' things alot easier due to ur brain being Play-Doh but you absorb information and learn new things very easily without much issue which is why older generations tend to find it hard to learn a new language and tend to keep their traditional accent and word phrasing, but the younger generation will sound native speaking.

Tbh for the controls you pretty much never use strafing keys in Minecraft. Way more useful to just make her learn to direct the view with the mouse and go forward and backward

I never managed to get my mother to play minecraft, but this is pretty much how things would go. She complaining she doesn't understand, and me trying my best to explain things that are obvious

One of my favorite games of all time, Gothic, also uses arrow keys as standard movement. It was quite common in the 90s (I'm a late 90s baby, but grew up with the older stuff)
Also, even though most left-handed people use WASD and mouse as well (like myself), a few have trouble using the mouse with their right hand, so they resort to arrow-keys as well.
The music in the beggining of the video is called "clutterfunk" from geometry dash... one of my favorite games!

I woulda showed her how to play minecraft before going straight to the most complex aspect of the game...
I do actually use arrow keys for minecraft and other games, but it is because I am left handed and like the mouse on the left (also I use the numberpad arrow keys not the tiny little ones under the shift key)
My mom first played in Pocket and me and my cousin trapped her in void for a second, why she was down there in the first place idk, but she was there and we blocked it off (super flat Creative)

I've been struggling with redstone since I've started (quite a long time) and I've never been able to get the hang of it. I can't seem to understand how she got it so quickly!
