I would genuinely like to see you make a red stone "handbook" explaining all the redstone components and what they actually do from a technical redstone pov

I bought the originals too around 2014, gosh does the building one suck today, only notable tutorial that's good enough is the bridge one and maybe the castle one. Every other tutorial is mediocre at best (the big house sucks compared to what I've learned to do)

The redstone torch clock was used back in alpha/beta before repeaters were a thing. You just made repeaters with two redstone torches to revert and restore the signal twice
I still use the redstone torch clock from the handbook... Was where i learnt it😬

Cube's elevator does way more than that, you can go to any floor from any floor, you just made it worse :)

True, but you know that using modern redstone, Cube's elevator can still be compacted a ton. Plus, the elevator Crafty demonstrated is more practical, as if you want to build this in survival, you wouldn't build an entire building just to hide the massive redstone.

11:25 I know from experience that a Jeb door is not spamproof. I've had to partially rebuild my Jeb doors many times because I accidentally double right clicked really fast.
Did you use observers?
The original Jeb door is spam proof. If you spam it, the blocks will go out of place, but by just flicking the lever slowly it’ll fix itself.
5:34 it probably shows that first t flip flop, as well as the first clock, as an easier way of understanding how it works, rather than the 2nd circuits which at first glance looks intimidating

I have some knowledge, or better some subconsciousness, of how to redstone but it's with this kind of content that I'm learning proper names and definitions to the contraptions I make, and so forth I'm always better at figuring out a circuit, a solution which fits what i want the contraption to perform. I've seen the T-FF at 5:42 quite a bit in the past. But now it's just outclassed by droppers and observers.
I have as well, there were some other variations of the same T-Flip Flop since droppers and observers simply did not exist at the time. It's ironically the design my head still goes to when I think of a T-Flip Flop

ive seen it used in a creeper farm. the thing was hooked up to a hopper clock and each time a hopper was emptied the t-flip flop would power the empty hopper so that the items in the other hopper could empty, making for a compact and easily increasable/decreasable clock. the clock was then hooked up to the water mechanism in the farm.

13:45 NO it doesn't even holds up to its time. This cannon is extremely tnt inefficient, big, can only spread at one place, does minimal dmg, doesn't penetrate water (that's no must to have) and its super slow, its not even a good option for survival applications (never say anything is good unless u ve studied it for at least 500 playhours (or just do a citation)

I had two of them, the redstone and pvp. Legendary books, i read them atleast 10 times each when i was 8-10
I actually discovered the comparator clock myself. Not like “I was the first one” but like I was just messing around and just discovered it only to find out it was already used and known

Java redstone: 2+2=7 100% of the time
Bedrock redstone: 2+2=4 80% of the time
Java redstone has more quirks and bugs but at least it's consistent (same thing happens every single time when a redstone contraption is activated)

i remember having these books, unfortunately i accidentaly ripped the pages and lost them in the process. but i still have the newer version of the handbooks.

I feel like you seriously misunderstood what the redstone handbook is for, the fact that you included 0 tick circuits shows this. It's not meant to explain the circuits that go into the huge, complicated contraptions of today's redstone - it's meant to introduce little timmy to the concept of it. That's why the ideas and contraptions in it are so simple, it's not just a product of its time.
Vary true but the way redstone works changes a lot overtime
for a example in Java redstone used to break off pistons when activated
and from what i know that’s changed.

also you upgrade to the trap chest means if you use your hotbar number keys you can swap stacks and not trigger anything

My lava trap actualy uses end crystals instead of lava so when there is no items in the chest it imediately kills you but it destroyes the soroundings as well

i used to use that 2nd t-flip flop...however the one i use now im confused as to why i never see anyone else using just a dispenser facing down into a hole with a bucket of water in it and a comparator facing out
If the water gets anywhere the redstone will all break

You can now replace the water with powdered snow so that it is more compact and it does not destroy the Redstone
