  • When you wish to enter specialty training, you will need to make sure that your FY2 competencies or what are now known as the CREST form is signed off. If you are unable to get this form completed, you cannot proceed with your training application.
    Dr Ibrahim Ivan, an Internal Medicine Trainee, talks at length about what exactly the CREST form contains and how you can go about completing it in this 11 part series and free course brought to you by RoadToUK Academy.

    Dr.Ibrahim..thank you for such clear information .
    I have completed my internship in Feb 2021 and currently working since past 2 months with gmc to get my Pmq recognised since my college was not listed in gmc. Thanks to your articles.
    Im currently working as a junior resident in anaesthesia department in a govt medical college in Andamans, India and i want to pursue either internal medicine or pediatrics training in uk.
    What should I do for a better resume in this 1 year junior resident job of mine????
    I don't want to take up anaesthesia as my training branch so there is no point in getting crest signed off... Will this job help me in my portfolio.
    Waiting for your reply. Thank you

    Hello
    I’m so glad I found your page
    So many helpful videos
    I have just relocated to the uk 3 months ago
    I am currently doing an A&E job as an FY3, non training I suppose
    I have got the Horus portfolio just recently but haven’t filled anything on it as it is really confusing
    I hope to become a pediatrician and enter the specialty training this year. So I’m looking out for all I can do to make this work.
    Fortunately my job also allows postings to the paeds ED and I have just told my supervisor about my interest in paeds and she has assured me I’ll be posted there more frequently.
    1. Can I fill the form in retrospect as I have clerked and done some procedures in the last 3 months or would you advise I just focus on the next 3 months and build my portfolio? Do you reckon 3 months is enough to get all I need for the Horus e portfolio?
    2. About the CREST form, seeing that I have about three and a half months to the end of my contract in my current a&E job, do you think I can get it signed off in time and enable me prepare for the Pediatrics specialty training this year?
    3. Do you recommend I get the CREST form signed by a consultant in pediatrics, do you think that will be helpful? Or can an A&E consultant sign it as well?
    I’d really appreciate any help you can offer
    Thank you so much for your time

    Hello! I had a question about Crest form. We have consultants work on a weekly basis. So even though I work full time it's not full time with the same consultant. So do I need to wait for 3 complete months with a particular consultant to sign the Crest form or just for 3 full months of employment?

    • @RoadToUK
      @RoadToUK  Před 4 lety

      No. Seek out one consultant and explain to them from the start that you want to get your CREST form signed in the next 3 months and spend as much time as possible when working with them doing the tasks outlined in the form.

    Hello, I am a Doctor from Bangladesh (SSMC, finished my internship in June 2019, passed MRCP-1 in Jan-‘20, jobless till now and sitting for PLAB-1 in June-‘20)
    Hypothetically if I start working from November/December 2020 in UK in a non training post, can I complete my CREST form within this 3-4 months (as March 2021 is the deadline for August 2021 IMT post) and apply? Is it possible?
    Another question: When the crest form is required? During application or like during interview? (As you can see it’s a tight schedule even to make those required three months)
    Obviously the post will start from August and I will be doing that non-training job. So a total of 8-9 months of experience non-training (as generally recommended before training) should be helpful, I guess.
    It’s a long query but it defines how I should proceed. Thanks in advance 😊

    • @RoadToUK
      @RoadToUK  Před 4 lety +2

      1. The CREST form is needed during the application process.

    For a candidate from New Zealand who has finished their foundation training in New Zealand, I understand in order to enter core surgical training in the UK you would need to sit the PLAB, gain GMC registration and then work for 12 months post licensing to obtain the CREST form. Few questions:
    1. Does the 12 months post licensing medical experience have to be all in the UK? Can the CREST form only be signed by UK consultants or equivalent? Or Can the CREST form be signed by a consultant in the home country? (New Zealand)
    2. If after obtaining GMC registration you apply for an F2 standalone post - can FPCC be achieved in the 1 year and then be eligible for core surgical training? Via the successful completion of foundation competencies route.
