I love how you can hear that Alvin is getting more confident in his voiceovers. Great job
Getting better for sure. It felt like Babish always had it together from the start but he really didn't. His newer videos are way better and Alvin will continue to grow as well
At first Babish branching out felt like he was abandoning his family, it felt like he was just trying to make money. But after meeting the new family I'm quite glad. I hope the Ratata stays. I grew up with them and it fits the style so much, they weren't really known about until nowadays.
Couldn’t listen to him at first. Drove me crazy, now he’s really rolling. Keep going
Why is no one simping for Alvin ?!
yay alvin ❤️
Katsudon is such a comfort food dish. One of my favorite variations is mixing in some pickled veg or making kimchi fried rice to give it that pop.
I enjoy your comments. Do you only comment on the Anime based foods he do?
There's a local Japanese restaurant that serves katsudon, and they always tuck a few pieces of pickled daikon into the bowl.
I remember the first time i had Katsudon i was in Japan, and they served it with a bowl of pickled veg on the side, i remember it mostly cause i thought the eggs were cheese at first, but it was great.
I made your deku katsudon. One of the best things I ever ate.
CHEFPK SAMA!!!
Wow making your own Panko! That's something not even most Japanese people will do when they make tonkatsu, so impressive!
Did you know katsudon in Japan for some reason is very closely associated with detective drama movies? In Japan we say that if you feed a suspect katsudon in their interrogation room they will think of their mom and confess!
champ x alvin is the crossover we need
The Champ has graced us with his presents
that fun fact is actually cute and funny
CHAMP IS KING!
Haha I knew about feeding them katsudon but I didn't know it was so they would think of their mom, that's kinda hilarious.
I request a part 2 with Yurio’s grandpa’s katsudon piroshki.
Yesssssss
I’ve requested that recipe
PLEASEEEEEEE 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yes!
I just have to say, the Anime with Alvin is so heartwarming and enjoyable to watch. Big props to the entire team at BCU.
I love how Alvin didn't waste any of the bread crusts. Nice work!
5 years ago, when I first watched Yuri!!! On Ice I really wanted to have that katsudon. Really grateful for you showing us how to make it and maybe one day I will try it for myself!
i was fortunate to live close to a japanese restaurant, i get to have katsudon whenever i have enough money
Panko is made by cooking the breaddough with electricity instead of oven heat. that's why panko is so white. It doesn't get burned. also that method creates that airyness you don't get from normal breadcrumbs.
Despite this being my favourite anime, I had to click off the minute he said he was using normal everyday bread for making his own panko. That's not how panko works, and there's so many reasons why.
@@allgreatfictions
No, the *bread* is baked with electrical current.
@@allgreatfictions that’s either cap, or it’s the pettiest thing I’ve heard today…‘I clicked off a cooking video because the person cooking it made one variation thus ruining the entire meal and video’…that’s you
@Levi Griffin the texture is completely different. When bread is made with electricity, it becomes much more crispy. There’s a cool CZcams video that covers it somewhere. I saw it like half a year ago.
@@Jim-tb7sj I didn't click off but I can understand why you might tune out of a tutor's lesson if they open with info that you already know to be incorrect.
It’s kinda interesting how we all grow up differently hearing different sayings. I always knew the difference between Stalactites and stalagmites by the phrase, “hang tightly, stand mightily,” but not everyone heard that phrase growing up!
For me, it was always "Stalactites hang tight, stalagmites stand with might"
with me, stalactites have a "c" for ceiling, and stalagmites have a "g" for ground
This is all wizardry. I just tell people I have no idea what they talking about. Much easier
My mum always said, “when the mites go up, the tites come down!” Like bugs going up your legs so you have to pull down your tights. Gross, but I haven’t forgotten which is which hahaha!
I never had any sayings but
stalagMites - M looks like spikes from the ground
stalacTites - T looks (kinda) like a spike from the ceiling
Loving this series, I’ve discovered so many new anime to watch through Alvin’s recreations!
Be prepared for a yaoi then 👀
@@bloxmaker5900 it’s shounen ai at best ( even that at the very end)
@@bloxmaker5900 And?

I love this (it looks amazing) and the fact that you featured Yuri on Ice has been much wanted!! I’d love for you to take this recipe to the next level and turn it into the Katsudon Piroshki from Yuri! Part 2?!
I never expected a Yuri on Ice episode!! So happy to see this recipe!
Everytime I watch any of Alvins episodes I love how he shares his food with his coworkers/friends. It is really wholesome
Panko is produced with an electrical current, which is why it appears and feels significantly different from blended breadcrumbs. Less oily/more cirspy because the oil can drain and water can escape, and tends to stay crispier when making a -don.
Vkusno! Great job!
Story time: This was one of the dishes that made me, for lack of a better word, a foodie and helped me discover that I legitimately love cooking. Yuri on Ice was very much a comfort show to me because of school stress in 2016. I always saw the gorgeous food they had in each episode, which made me want to learn about what each dish was, where I could eat them, and how to make them myself. That then led me to exploring the Asian food scene in my town, which I, despite being Asian myself, had barely known about until then. Long story short, I ended up working as a chef for about six months before the schedule got a bit too crazy between that and school (there's a reason being a chef is a full-time job.) But I'll always look at katsudon with so much love because it not only is one of my favorite dishes period from one of my favorite anime, but it helped me learn about and appreciate food so much more to the point that my entire feed is all cooking channels.
💕💕
this channel just never disappoints 😩✋
My family loves it when I make Katsudon. The recipe I've been using is from Cooking With A Dog, I'll be sure to try this one out soon
Cooking With Dog has the best recipes! Chef's karaage is unbelievable! I also recommend her garlic steak and rice burger recipes. Made her yakiniku recipe last week and it was fantastic, will be trying out her favorite hamburger recipe this week and I'm hyped!
Alvin seasoning the flour reminds me of Adam Ragusea. "Why I season my flour, not my pork!".
not enough wine
put in 20 eggs, yes 20
"and if you don't season the flour I will throw you under the broiler, or what Brits would call a grill."
Every time I watch Yuri!! On Ice, the katsudon makes me so hungry xD I’ll have to try making this for my family!
Do you think it’d be possible to recreate the Inferno Margarita Max Pizza from the film PROMARE? That would be amazing!
Where is Binging With Babish? Like it’s been ages since we’ve had one
He’s allowed to go on vacation
@@AstarionWifey shut up
I have a craving for Katsudon every time it appears in Yuri On Ice. It sounds like the food of the gods, and man, maybe it is 😂
Can you please do the Foxtail millet Ramen from Dr. Stone and as a bonus the cola from Dr. Stone
ngl, digging these anime food segments. I also just finished watching Yuri on Ice recently. That OP song also slaps.
You know you did a great job when Champ's Japanese Kitchen compliments you.
You should make some of the curries from Pokémon sword and shield!
I love this idea.
Would be amazing if he used actual berries to make them too.
I think Babish did this already? Not sure
@@gabudaichamuda2545 i posted this before he had :)
I’m so glad you made this. This was actually the first thing I ate when I was in Japan. And I’ll never forget it.
katsudon is one of my all time favorite meals, i’m really glad you got to make it and share it with us on here 💖
Yay! Yuri on ice I love that show.
YOI!!! Was such an important part of my own coming out story so it always warms my heart to see major channels I follow create content based around such an amazing anime. You did an amazing job with that katsudon, Alvin! I'm honestly surprised it was your first ever try at making it! I definitely intend to try making my own version with this recipe when I'm able to. Thank you so much for this comforting video!
💕💕🏳️🌈
Thank you for sharing the recipe👍👍👍
i really love this series, i hope he eventually has enough recipes to do an anime with alvin cookbook the same way babish did
i really love that alvin gives us ideas on what to dowith the scraps!
It's not just Yuri Katsuki's favorite food, it's also Izuku Midoriya's!!
thats where i know the dish from
amazing as always Alvin!! I cant wait to see what you've got in store for us next time!
Thank you for making this! Was waiting to see this made!
Alvin has such a wonderful voice. I could listen to him talk all day.
Great work, Alvin. That's a beautiful Katsudon right there, especially for a first try. I work at a Ramen Restaurant, and have to make 30-50 of those bowls a night. You nailed it.
Diggin this new series! Keep up the great work!
I have the biggest crush on Alvin. I love that you guys incorporate anime dishes cuz sometimes you receive d shows I never heard of then get hooked on.
The way I've been waiting for katsudon from Yuri on ice for years! and Alvin didn't disappoint, so tasty!
Katsudon is amazing. Had it at a local restaurant and I make it pretty often.
For anyone who hasn't tried katsudon before its something i'd recommend to anyone! If you can get it nearby, you should!
I have been waiting for this for ever!!!! Thank you and great Job!
I love Anime with Alvin because it gives the same vibes as Binging and Alvin also has a calming voice that can help one fall asleep. I’ve always watched Andrew’s videos to help fall asleep and Alvin’s have the exact same effect and it makes me so happy.
Thank you for making this!
YOI is my fav comfort anime and I was always so jealous of characters eating katsudon 😂
💕💕
I've always meant to try making this, because I've made Tonkatsu a few times and the recipes always say use the leftovers to make katsudon. Unfortunately I never have any leftovers. 😋
YOU DID IT! I've been waiting for this for SO LONG!!!
Made katsudon before, probably one of my favorite dishes that I've made. It's so delicious
VKUSNO!!!! i’ve been waiting for this one! i love having fresh chopped spring onion on top of my katsudon, and you’re totally right about it being a comfort food ☺️
Ive been waiting so long for this!!!
Do a video on A Restaurant to Another World!
I made this once bc of yuri on ice for dinner and my family ended up liking it so much they now have me make katsudon at least once every few months
Something about seeing it go on the rice at the end made this just seem like one of the most perfect foods I've ever seen.
I just recently got into YOI fandom (6 years late Ik) and suddenly seeing Alvin made katsudon based on YOI anime is such a nice coincidence! ♡
I don't like pork, but I think chicken will be great subtitute with this recipe : )
Welcome to the yoi family 😊💕
That’s an actual recipe known as “oyakodon”
@@silvandarart Thank you for the warm welcome! : )
Wow. This looks absolutely stunning and I cant wait to try it myself this weekend
I have been waiting for the pork cutlet bowl for forever to be a video here
YES I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG THANK YOU
Ahhh an Yuri on Ice an episode, only the greatest love story in the world lol. The meal looks delicious 😋
This episode just made me so nostalgic! Let's do a Part 2 please! Yuri Plisetsky's Katsudon Pirozhki :D
Please!
I have made katsudon a couple of times and here we have Alvin, his first time making a dish, have a better presentation than when I made katsudon
I'm enjoying this series really a lot. I think it might be time for a deep dive, 'cause anime food always looks SO DELICIOUS, so learning how to make some of it really appeals.
This Is what I have been waiting for
Hi Babish and Alvin!! Love your videos!!
I remember asking for this episode when Yuri!!! On Ice had just aired! Im so happy its finally here
so nice to see Alvin is still the fun and goofy Alvin he was from Making It Big. I've always loved his character and personality. And ofc he's a fantastic chef. Always a pleasure to see him
Okay, I know what's for dinner. That looks incredible.
YASS, one of my favorite anime. Can either you or Andrew please make the pirozchi?
Thanks for showing the textural differences between the fresh and homemade panko! Definitely giving fresh a go next time!
It's one of my favorite things to make. Thanks Alvin for sharing your passion!
Well done, Alvin! This actually looks like a dish that I would attempt to prepare. Rice, pork and eggs... 3 of the 4 major food groups. 🌾🐖🍳
What's the fourth?
@@eviebraud1307 Why, caramel of course. 😁
@@riwoof sounds legit 🙂
Will actual Babish ever return? We miss you!
Loving this entire series Alvin, keep it up!!
I've been on an anime binge for the last week or so, these episodes are a really great complement! This katsudon looks amazing, and not too difficult. I might have to try it!
For anyone curious, I was watching Sasaki to Miyano and Sk8 the Infinity (both subbed and dubbed versions for both, the dubs are really fun lol)
I really love the humor in this video 🤣
Love this series! You should do the curry from persona 5 next!
I've been waiting for this video for so long
Can you prepare a bento box from Demon Slayers Mugen Express?
YAS 👏
I'm a filthy westerner, but I was under the impression that Panko is specifically cooked using electricity rather than heat. So you can't just make your own like you can with regular breadcrumbs, even if you use Japanese bread. You just made regular breadcrumbs, not Panko.
You said it yourself; you're a filthy westerner.
Panko, in Japanese, literally translates to "bread crumbs/powder". He did make it correctly.
In western countries, our Panko is a specific Panko, aka the one you described.
Basically, you should learn more about other cultures before telling someone how to make a culturally appropriate dish. Lol
yeah it is cooked with current and he did just make shokupan breadcrumbs
I had this dish but with a chicken cutlet from a cute Japanese restaurant once and it was incredible! One of the most amazing things I’d ever eaten. Instantly became one of my favorite foods.
I literally make this all the time at home cause I just love that anime so much! It’s soooo delicious
WOW!! that looks incredible!! if you're looking for inspiration i'd love to see you tackle some meals from Midnight Diner on netflix (although that isn't anime). Love this show!
Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of anime with Alvin? Or do you mean babish should make it for bingeing with banish?
On panko manufacturing, the bread is baked with electrical currents to produce a crustless bread. Some are referencing that the electricity is used to crisp the crumbs and such but that’s not quite accurate - it’s thought to give the product an airier texture, but I think also it is a manufacturing choice since panko isn’t made with the crust. Companies simply don’t want extra crust waste, that’s like at least 20-30% of each loaf becoming product overhead.
i LOVE this series so much
So is this channel just Alvin's second channel now? I seem to remember a guy named Andrew who used to post videos here.
Arigato Alvin Sensei
FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR FIVE YEARS FOR THIS EPISODE
sorry for the capslock, I haven't seen the video yet and I actually don't even eat pork, but it's one of the most iconic show foods to me and I'm so glad the day has finally come
A very interesting fact i learned about Panko is it's actually electrocuted. When they make the stuff in bags you can buy at the grocery store its bread crumbs that have had an electrical current shot through it. This makes the Panko crackly and jagged. This is how it gets its iconic crunch. Regular Breadcrumbs that are just dry bread or bread thats been baked is still crunchy but not as crunchy because its finer like a powder.
We're gonna need a Golden Girls cheesecake episode! = )
As much as I love this idea, sadly thats not anime 😔
@@maggotbitch so?
That's not really panko though.. it's just breadcrumbs. Panko is made by baking with electrical current which would be pretty hard to do I imagine so just buy them.
Agreed
Nah even japanese panko factories use oven baked bread and cut the crust off.
@@MrFinalresistance they don't tho.
Baking with electrical current? So, an electric oven?
the electric current is to make a bread without crust so there is no waste, cutting off the crusts is also perfectly acceptable
I love Yurii on ice, and I always got so hungry when I saw the Katsudon🤤😍. Thank you for doing this video, it was amazing!
I made Katsudon at home a couple of times, a wee bit different than what's shown here but it's an amazing and simple dish.
ok. But no more Binging with Babish?
I think he went on break
diversity win !
The way I was taught to remember which is which with stalagmites and stalactites is a little convoluted but works [though maybe slightly UK centric as you call tights, pantyhose over there]. Imagine a picnic, that gets invaded by ants, they get everywhere & in a panic to get them off of her the girl removes her tights. "So the mites [ants] crawl up & the tights come down."
Oh all those cut off crusts were just begging for some soft boiled eggs. Few treats better than dipping your utter "soldiers" [strips of buttered toast] into runny egg yolk.
Interesting dish & great video as always, many thanks.
Thank you for making this! Made my day!!
Is Babish still alive? Or was he killed in a water/oil explosion?
On vacation
This channel's really just turned into Binging with Alvin by now. I guess Babish went out for a pack of smokes.
