Hats off to all the ramen chefs out there, that stuff ain’t easy
It looks like a lot! Thank you for being here and helping Andrew with his channel. You're a great chef!
Self insert on your own show

Lazy guy... didnt even made all by himself
Not at Alvin commenting on his own video lol
I had no idea restaurant ramen was so labor intensive. Well done; it looked extremely delicious.
Yup. Proper ramen is a luxury food, just like sushi. It took me a long while to understand that when I was used to dehydrated noodle packets.
@@Duiker36 The difference is even more dramatic if all you know is American brand instant ramen. Instant ramen from East Asian countries are so much more flavorful and can include more robust topping. From pickled vegetables to tofu to even eggs!
@@ZZ-qy5mv America in some places are lucky because they can get the Eastern style instant ramen
@@ZZ-qy5mv Yup Ive seen korean instant ramen with whole mushroom, shrimp, pickled vegetables, tofu, beef pieces etc. Really delicious and filling for something that takes 10 minutes of minimal effort.
It is, but it is so worth the while
As someone who does a LOT of home cooking, this is exactly the reason I'm so intimidated by cooking any eastern food. There's so many ingredients and longwinded steps involved. Major respect to people who dedicate so much to this particular craft.
In Japan it's not really a common home-cooked meal. You can make way simpler versions of Ramen at home, or stuff like oyakodon. It's kinda like looking at all the steps to make a Thanksgiving dinner and thinking all American food is insanely complicated
I will say that ramen is like one of the most demanding foods in terms of time and ingredients. But there's a lot food that are easy to make!
@@phishmo914 It's an absolute shitfuckton of prep work and minutes of final cooking, so, yeah, better leave it to the restaurants.
@@bodyno3158 true! I've made a shoyu style a few times and it turned out well but it took forever, I was exhausted haha. I can't help but imagine people who do it everyday.
Ramen is a bad reason for not trying eastern dishes at home. Basically no regular households in Japan make ramen at home anyway.
I had no idea that genuine ramen is this ingredient heavy and labor intensive. kudos to anyone making this stuff from scratch.
me too man, me too.
Tonkotsu ramen, in particular. Miso or shoyu ramen is a little bit easier.
For proper ramen, the broth actually takes days to make, not hours.
Am on my last 3 hours of cooking and I can say.... Its exhausting
The soup alone takes 5 to 8 hours
Hey Alvin, don't forget another Naruto's iconic recipe which is "The Curry of Life" that Rock Lee loves the most.. maybe in the couple episode of Anime With Alvin will do
Yes!!!! We need The Curry of Life!!
I didn't know that was added filler for so long :( .
I WANTED A VIDEO FOR THE CURRY OF LIFE FOR YEARS
Please please please, just please
Just came from that episode
Alvin: “I have never made ramen from scratch before.”
Also Alvin: *[literally makes a giant bowl of ramen for a sumo wrestler]*
😂
I came straight to the comments for this
@@kaldo_kaldo What do you mean? I’m not sure if you’re thinking of the same thing
@@kaldo_kaldo OP means he literally made a supersized ramen bowl a while ago on tasty
Wait is this the same Alvin from the tasty/about to eat youtube channel? I didn't know he had his own channel now.
I grew up in a very small town, and whenever someone said let’s eat ramen, they meant cup of noodles. So I grew up thinking that’s what ramen was, and I wasn’t huge fan. It wasn’t until I started watching Naruto junior year of high school that I learned it was an actual Japanese food. Love it.
Instant ramen is japanese
I think most of us thought that was all ramen was until Naruto
You can make cup noodles into actual ramen you just aren't cultured and that's not ok. Now go learn
@@TheVamxie Haha ok.
@@TheVamxie if he didn’t grow up with japanese culture how would he just randomly know about japanese ramen?
I think it’s fitting Naruto’s favorite food is ramen. Both require incredible amounts of patience and hard work to become successful.
I'll admit, I was skeptical of anyone else doing full Babish-style episodes.
This was my first time watching you, and you knocked it out of the park, my dude.
Same. Looks awesome!!!!
He has his own channel and it’s really cool I’d give it a check
totally same as me
The park is for kids
@@LilXancheX you're for kids. Got him. 💪😤
I wish someone told Andrew about the hole in the egg thing back when he was remaking those Scotch Eggs. Would've saved him the supervillain arc he went through
It was a pretty fun supervillain arc though.
ok
what does it do? he never explained that :(
@@picgmr1575 I believe it makes the eggs easier to peel if you’re talking about the technique of poking a hole on the eggshell

Let's appreciate teuchi for giving this ramen to Naruto for free .
You fool, it has menma in it. He's trying to poison Naruto
@@idonthaveaname8491 the toxins get destroyed once cooked.
menma is not poisonous tho?@@idonthaveaname8491
Watching shows like this make me appreciate the small restaurants that I have access to instead of having to do the whole thing myself.
I love how we got to watch Alvin’s growth over the years-from buzzfeed’s cooking channel to BCU.
Quite the upgrade
Anything leaving buzzfeed behind is an upgrade.
@@medeyer technically he didn't. he still works for About To Eat which is managed by buzzfeed
Proposal for the BCU: the Tarte Aux Fruits from Kingdom Hearts III. Known fruits are Cherry, Strawberry, Orange, Banana, Grape, Honeydew, and Watermelon, and there are shots of both the whole tarte and an individual slice for different references.
yes!! especially to celebrate the announcement of KH4
Literally juste means "fruits pie"... they could have tried a little more.
@@zynosgd9982 They weren't trying to give it a fanciful name, they literally got the tarte from a French chef as a thank-you gift for a favour they did him earlier.

IDK about that bud..
I love when cooking channels actually criticize their own food when it's done and don't just claim it's perfect. Keep that up!
It also looks amazing, so well done!
I've wanted Naruto ramen ever since I saw the first ramen bowl. Glad to see someone finally made my dream a reality 😭
"This guy seemed to come out a little bit early. It's alright, it happens to the best of us." 💀😂
that went right under my nose
ha appropriate 69th like.
How did I miss that😂😂😂
Let’s be honest: Naruto made us all obsessed with real Ramen, not the packaged noodles. I always looked for this specific design whenever I went out for some in NYC.
True i also think boruto should be crucified for insulting the most powerful guy in naruto. ramenguy
for me it was mob psycho 100 couldn't sit through naruto its very hard to sit through but i have watched all the action scenes in isolation tho pretty cool combat system
Kinda both since naruto ate probably just as much instant ramen
100% true.
Never watched Naruto, still love real Ramen. Not sure the origin of my personal interest (parents hated anime when I was a kid so I never got to see any), but I always associate it with sci-fi, so maybe there is something there.
I’m so glad Alvin is branching out and joining the Babish Culinary Universe! It’s so cool to see him doing all this! Keep up the great work!
I make chicken katsu udon regularly as a part of my diet and I gotta say, that bit about everything being timed right is the most difficult part to get down.
I always do my eggs first, the broth second, saute my mushrooms and slice my carrots and scallions. I get my finishing steps going by getting the seasoning and flour on my chicken and then get my udon going as I fry my chicken.
Everything gets plated within a minute of getting the udon in the broth.
I've been doing this for a couple of years now, so I have my methods down to an exact science. The timing makes for a delicious combination of flavors without compromising the chicken's crunchiness or making the udon too soggy.
Very well done ramen bowl in this video, congrats!
I love that most every culture has its own "holy trinity" in some form.
Now, if only we could combine every culture's holy trinity, to make the ultimate soup base.
It's weird, because Japanese food does have a holy trinity, but it's not ginger, garlic, and scallions. It's soy sauce, mirin, and sake.
Alvin was just making that up, and frankly, it sounded more Chinese cooking than Japanese.
@@Duiker36 that is true about the holy trinity, but ramen is actually a japanese spin on chinese noodles so it makes sense that they'd use the chinese set for it.
What would be the American holy trinity I wonder? Cooking wise that is
@@elaboratedreamer for Cajuns it's bell pepper, celery, and onion.
“Ooohhuuuhh, this guy seems to come out a bit early. Don’t worry happens to the best of us.” 😂😂😂
I think what makes ramen so unique is the lifestyle of running a shop. Making it at home is possible but it's so hard! Ramen is beautiful culture
I feel like cooking to this degree is one of the most satisfying things in the world. You put in all this effort and in the end it jut tastes amazing and was worth the wait. It must literally feel empowering and heavenly.
I have wanted this ever since Alvin started doing this series

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. There is so much food from One Piece I want to see made.
Love your videos as well Jami!😁

I'm like so ready for you to react to the rest of slime hahaha
Thank you! Thank you! I have been waiting since day one of Anime with Alvin for this. This channel is the gift that keeps on giving
I love how Binging with Babish has become a whole universe with multiple amazing cooks. I’ve found so many other awesome cooking channels thanks to this ❤️
Miso tonkotsu is the king of ramen
Can't wait for Uncle Rogers' reaction to this, looks like you did a great job.
I think he might approve.
He will got the haiya from Uncle Roger for forgetting the Aroma oil
WHERE YOUR MSG?!?!?
Ramen is a Japanese thing and outside the uncle’s specialty.
Probably he would say something about cleaning the broth after the first hours of low heat fire.
I still just love how the Ichiraku ramen shop owners always treated Naruto like family. Makes me smile.
The Fact That Teuchi "Ramen Guy From Naruto" Makes this entire meal in a few seconds!
Great Job By the way! Im Not really the best chef and I know this isn't easy to make, but watching this give's me the urge to do so.
Thank You! And keep It up being a Great chef you are :)
Man if that's Naruto's favorite meal, then it's no wonder he's got infinite energy.
I started watching this channel a few years ago in HS, never thought I’d be the culinary type but in the time that’s past I’ve moved to Japan and gotten into the cuisine here. Hard as a picky eater but I deal with it💀. Finally some ramen 🍜
YESSSS!!! A combination made in my personal heaven. I love all things Babish and Alvin!! So so so happy to see you here and making one of my all-time favorite dishes!
This makes me want to go hug my local ramen chef. Love that guy and this video made me appreciate him that much more.💕
Been following The Way of Ramen for a while now. Nice to see the call out and very tasty looking ramen!
Can we take a moment to appreciate how great an addition Alvin is to this channel...
Thank you for the recommendation for the Way of Ramen channel! I subscribed and have been delving deep into the videos.
I also love these anime episodes. Keep ‘em coming! 👍🏻
HEAVEN. Wow, I am so amazed. I can’t tell you how many times “wow!” just came out of me. I love Naruto and this ramen is on my bucket list of meals to eat. Such a wonderful dish. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe Alvin!! 💜💜💜
Hello Lindsey
I like your recipe. Thank you for sharing 😋
Way of Ramen actually got me into making ramen from scratch myself; it's awesome to see him mentioned here!
alvin and babish were my favorite people on yt and now they share the channel. It great
I love how Alvin seems so honest about the taste.
Gotta say, I'll probably eat pork belly no matter how it's cooked. In Ramen, baked, or what not, pork belly is just awesome. One thing I'll probably agree with naruto.
The paper towel over the eggs tip is genius! My eggs always come out with a little white bit
Fully agree!
Sometimes the most simple and straight forward solutions are the best.
Hello Danielakonnishi
Wow! All the work and prep time that goes into this. It's truly a labor of love and the work of a master chef.
That looks amazing. The only thing I think you missed is in Road to Ninja, Naruto states that he hates menma! Which I think is why in the video you posted you do not see any. But could be reading too deep into the movie. Great job love these videos.
considering the way he treats his kid, makes sense 👍🏻
He learned to love it
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR SO LONG! Thanks, Alvin!
That was entertaining and interesting. I'd love to taste it but there's no way I'd tackle that myself. Thanks for posting.
brooo this is so nostalgic for me
i always remembered alvin from tasty but now seeing him here just makes me really happy
Finally your doing Naruto Ramen
Not naruto ramen just actual ramen in japan ramen
I never realised how much work ramen takes. This was really interesting to watch. 🙂
It takes longer if you are making only for yourself compared to restaurants. That is why the true ramen experience is had in a ramen place.
It's worth it, let me tell you
This is quickly becoming a comfort video for me
This is fantastic! I really liked seeing how simple the dashi recipe is . . . thinking maybe I can make my own, instead of buying packets or mixes!
Kind of obscure food request for Binging with Babish: flummery tarts from the animated sitcom "The Prince". They look really pretty in the show and they're a weird old-ish recipe. I'd love to see it made!
Alvin, I'm SO jealous. That's looks amazing and I bet it tastes even better. Great job dude
Looks delicious! I will say, bringing your dashi up to a true simmer will make it slimy and cloudier than it needs to be; keeping it where it steams but doesn't bubble is ideal. Cheers!
That looked splendid. I'm even more impressed that it was your first time making it. 🍜👍🏻
Great stuff, Alvin. With the manga coming to a close soon, and Season 4 officially on the way, I'd love to see a special on Golden Kamuy. There are plenty of dishes to choose from - though I suppose the ingredients might be a bit of a sticking point. I doubt that most Asian grocery stores sell squirrel brains...
Crazy how many ramen masters say that they love ramen because of its simplicity but heck it's one of the most labor intensive and complicated dishes to make. I hope I can visit Japan someday and taste some authentic ramen.
It’s wooooorth it! The best are the cramped back alley places.
been waiting for this video for 4 years :) thank you
At this point, I just wanna hang out with Alvin. I literally dropped everything I was doing to watch this video the very moment it was posted
I know right? He's calming like a day in a spa.
wow that looks INCREDIBLE! now i need to go have ramen. Great job Alvin and team!
We can enjoy these wonderful dishes, which takes tons of time and effort, with less than 10$ in so many places. what an amaging country Japan is.
Been waiting for years for this
That "Happens to all of us" joke isn't getting enough love in the comments
The amount of rich flavor and umami is absurd. Looks amazing
oh! this was uploaded on my birthday! i love ramen, and i think naruto was my first anime, so i'm glad i found this even if it took so long
Truly my favorite thing is how EVERYTHING is so utilized
The most perfect, slurpy, rich and colorful Ramen I've ever seen!
Absolutely. It's like Alvin got the cartoon ramen into real life.
Miso tonkotsu is the king of ramen. Even the instant ramen packs taste amazing.

That's a lot more work than I expected or what I am willing to do for one meal. Hats off to any ramen guys out there. It does look delicious, though...
When Alvin walked my first thought was "wait that doesn't look like babish" when Alvin said his name i screamed " YES ALVIN"
Come on, Alvin, this is bush league! If Andrew said "the flavour's a little off" he would have remade it eight times, with every bowl going into the clean plate club! I need to watch you make at least a dozen more variations of this 12 hour process! 😂
im not a food connoisseur.. havent had anything more than just local new england restaurants and fast food. home cooked is honestly the best ive ever gotten to real culinary taste... i hope someday to travel and try food like this from places all over the world :') one can only hope
So much work went into this video thank you!:)
It’s been a LONG TIME COMING for this one to be on the channel 😤
I got a suggestion, Kino's Fried Chicken from Kino's Journey 2017 episode 9
Kino's fried chicken is consistent of equal amount of chili pepper & chicken, a whole cup of vinegar, & Sancho pepper. It is a highly spicy dish.
Kino's mild fried chicken is wrapped in a mashed paste of fruits and vegetables, toning down the spice of the original dish significantly. Any other alterations to the dish if any are unknown.
Hey Alvin! Could you maybe try making any of the recipes from Made in Abyss? It's one of my favorite animes and I'd love to see Riko's cooking be brought to life!
“This guy seemed to come out a little bit early, it’s alright happens to the best of us.” I’m crying 😂😂
My favorite tool for poking a hole in an egg is a corn cob holder. You know those little things with the two prongs? One prong is usually longer than the other. I press the tip against the egg, and then give it a little slap to pop in there.
Loved this video. That ramen looks so yummy. Appreciate the honesty about the resulting seasoning. Also, Alvin was brutal towards his dad. Hehe
THE BRUTALITY TOWARDS HIS DAD IS SPECTACULAR
Ugh I just know that this turned out insanely delicious!
Love Alvin! Such a great addition to the BCU
This looks fantastic! I would gladly give a piece of my soul for a bowl of that!
If Alvin made this on his channel it would've taken at LEAST 500 hours (The 21 Day Ramen)
i love how likable alvin is
Hmm
Love the little cat meow in the background at 3:57
I have only ever tried to make ramen from scratch one time. It took nearly 3 days lol. Everyone thinks it is quick food because they are used to the ramen packs at the store, but real ramen is a multi-day excursion.
Lamb Cobbler from Phineas and Ferb. Both the garbled and correct recipe.
I would listen to Alving describing folding laundry. His voice is just so relaxing
