CITV Continuity & Adverts - 22nd May 1997

Originally uploaded on the day of CITV's 40th anniversary. This is from the town era. Not one of my own recordings, but one of the very few CITV tapes i have acquired in the wild. I didn't have a working VCR in 1997, so this is nice to have.
Coming out of Rupert, we are treated to some of the viewers drawings sent in, which is a clever way of showing them during an out-of-vision era. Then promos for The Treacle People and Where's Wally, a Next bumper for Mike & Angelo then a fun break bumper that features Steve Ryde in Victoria Square in Birmingham eating a CITV sandwich..
Adverts for Milky Way Magic Stars, Lenor, Fairy Liquid, Sugar Puffs Goosebumps Bookmarks, and Huggies.
Promos for Scooby and Scrappy-Doo and The Famous Five then a viewer submitted animated ident into Mike & Angelo (Great work Renaldo!) A Next bumper for Sweat, then a promo for Mashed.
Then unusually three long ads make up the next break, including Toffee Crisp, Sainsbury's and Nouvelle toilet roll.
We then go to the CITV Airport to have a look at what's coming up tomorrow, and it's a decent line-up of Donald Duck, The Treacle People, Where's Wally and Crazy Cottage.
To finish, a washed out looking CITV ident takes us into the Australian teen drama Sweat that features a young Heath Ledger.

8:35 a young Heath Ledger before he starred in Blockbusters such as Brokeback Mountain and The Dark Knight. I forgot he was on the Australian Teen Drama 'Sweat' which interestingly enough ran for one series and was still repeated on CITV as late as 2001 albeit seldomly.

​@@QueenofVHS given Sweat was originally released in 1996, I'm not surprised CITV aired it earlier than 2001 i.e 1997 this was one of the only times it was repeated as far as I'm aware

I’m still waiting for episodes of this year’s series of ‘Name That Toon’ (series 2) to be uploaded (this series featuring the ‘Pair Tree’ end game). I’m aware (rhyme unintended) there were 8 episodes (August 19 to October 7). Most of all, I’m waiting for good quality episodes, compared to Awesome Trixie’s uploads of said game.
