- Originally uploaded as part of the 40th anniversary CITV celebrations.
We begin with a promo for Zzzap! and the Ruskman pre-school ident leading us into Wizadora, after which Steve Ryde reminds us that Zzzap and Rosie and Jim are on tomorrow, and that Rupert is coming up next.
Onto the first break, and there's ads for Kellogg's Frosties, Aqua Fresh Whitening, Angel Delight (Banana), Sainsburys and Summer Fruits Vienetta.
Later on (after i taped over a chunk of the afternoon from this point..) the continuity resumes coming out of Samson Superslug with a Next bumper for Crazy Cottage followed by a Mystery Fax break bumper.
More ads, including Chewits, Ariel Automatic, Angel Delight (Butterscotch), Bandai Talking Lord Zedd & Talking White Ranger action figures (RIP Jason David Frank), Quavers, Kellogg's Rice Krispies and Milky Way Magic Stars.
Then a strange Twilight Zone-esque CITV promo followed by an even stranger one for the youth drama Island. A promo for The Geeks then back to Mystery Fax where Mr Ryde reveals who our mystery character is leading us into Crazy Cottage with a nice backwards ident.
As the afternoon draws to a close, we have a quick look at what's coming up tomorrow including the Pat Sharp live vehicle, Hang On "Prizes and surprises to suit the weekend" Count me in. Then we sign-off with the legendary CITV closedown ident followed by a promo for Telegantic Megavision, which would actually air it's last episode only 2 days later.

@HalfbrickVHS I’m thinking Do you like 75 episodes of Potamus park with 3 series
Thanks for this I have also got the CITV afternoon from that day
Happy new year
Ooooh we're starting in the year 1996...
One year before my beautiful queenly self appeared in the world
Also they wouldn't get away with that first Angel Delight ad today
Hey Happy New Year 2023
@@mrhammadmossop1988ul-haq Hi 👋👋👋 Same to you
I love citv too
2:23 - that Sainsbury's advert we've quoted many times 🤣 good to see it again
2:35 I got a sudden desire to do ....THIS!
🎵I feel like CHICKEN TONIGHT🎵
@@QueenofVHS You know back when I first saw it, about 2006/7. I couldn't decipher what he was saying at all.
@@JacksThrowbackAttack And I almost wrote it as "I feel like Dickhead Tonight" but I was like "No. This is the man. The legend. Better set a good impression on him."
You just need good ears
@@JacksThrowbackAttack I was wondering if you want to do a podcast of Potamus park with with writer only
Great upload. Looking forward to the rest of this week, since CITV aren't doing anything which is quite a pity.
I agree!
They did nothing for their 15th anniversary though
But this is the 40th!
Heck, Danielle Nicholls and Stephen Mulhern became presenters 25 years ago this year they should recreate their first moment on TV but with their current looks to show they've grown up since 25 years ago
@@QueenofVHS Man, I would have freaked if that happened, since that is my favourite era of CITV. Personally, I would have been okay with a content drop of shows, plus a 'CITV Old Skool' Fast Channel on ITVX
@@BeefyWaltoon What?! It's my favorite era too I'm from the States but prior to CZcams I used to watch them all the time!
@@QueenofVHS I think a lot of people in general consider it to be CITV's high point. The presenters really showed they had the time of their lives & they were all great! Stephen Mulhern is a highlight for me with his magic tricks & sense of humour. (not to mention he's hilarious, nowadays.) I also loved the dynamic between Leah Charles-King's cool, upbeat personality & Michael Underwood's sass!
Also, my god, the shows it introduced! SM:TV, The Quick Trick Show, Grizzly Tales, Finger Tips, Jungle Run, etc. Such classics! :)
@@BeefyWaltoon Augh YES! And it built their careers! I'd suggest if they also did a serial that was fantasy oriented but it took place in 2023 but it brought all the presenters back in some shape or form
Thanks so much for uploading this to CZcams Halfbrick
Interesting to see Zzzap! being treated here more as a preschool show airing at 3.45, I always thought of it as a show for the sort of 6-10 audience that CITV typically went for around 4pm, though I can understand why it'd appeal to a younger audience.
That being said, I remember seeing a promo for the Zzzap! Christmas Annual somewhere which featured Abacat at the end, who, like Ruskman, was almost always used into preschool programmes.
I remember rushing home from school to watch it, good times
I love CITV
Thanks so much for uploading this to CZcams
This was taped one day after my Alphabet Castle and partial episode of Wizadora was taped from CITV I have also got the pre-school CITV programmes from Thursday 25th April except the recording cuts into Sooty and Co after Wizadora so the pre-school preview for the following afternoons shows does not exist but luckily I have the pre-school Tomorrow promo after Wizadora from the 1st May 1996.
I see the pre-school CITV promo had a completely different background and was completely different comparing to the promo that was used for older children's programmes
5:14 They pretty much just showed a guy being frozen to death in an advert
I was wondering what other CITV afternoons do you have from 1996 because I have been trying to locate the first four CITV afternoons of that year from the 2nd to 5th January but I have mainly been trying to locate the pre-school programmes from back then.
I've also got the pre-school programmes from that afternoon so The Riddlers and Wizadora but sadly not the pre-school preview for the following afternoon's shows
Oh that would be cool to see Hammad. It would also be great to see the part of this afternoon i recorded over in 1998, i always remember the mechanical rooster ident going into Samson Superslug, but can't find it anywhere online.
@@HalfbrickVHS I always recorded the pre-school programme section of CITV I never bothered recording the programmes for older children
@@HalfbrickVHS Sorry I can't be much help
@@mrhammadmossop1988ul-haq No problem. I remember someone else uploaded this whole afternoon about 10 years ago or so, but it didn't stay up for long. Wish i saved it, was in better quality too.
@@HalfbrickVHS Can you remember who uploaded it
Do you have any FOX Kids CEE (English Audio) ad breaks?
Could the rather cryptic promo at 7:45 be for Island, Channel Television's only ever attempt at a youth soap drama (and unsurprisingly set on Jersey itself)? I never did watch it, however I do know that it was being shown on CITV around this time and was indeed pitched towards the older end of its remit at a time when increasingly little else was.
There are a few episodes uploaded on here and it was clearly going for a Neighbours/Home & Away feel, although I understand it wasn't very popular. With that and such avant garde advertisements, it's no wonder it only lasted two series and then sank...
Sorry i don't know why i didn't see your comment sooner, but thanks for the information, i think you might be right, as you see the word "Island" flashing up a couple of times, blink and you'll miss it. A very odd way to advertise the show though!
I don't remember this series at all, but it's good the first one is up at least.
@@HalfbrickVHS ah, I hadn't caught the actual title appearing in it very briefly! I do wonder if anyone who hadn't seen the show - or indeed some of those who actually had - even knew what it was supposed to be advertising, cryptic as the promo is!
Can u do citv from early 1998 please
I have nothing from early 1998 sorry.
@@HalfbrickVHS awww it’s ok what do u have then any tots tv Rosie and Jim or wizadora
