  • The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch covering the entire Northeast Ohio region as well north central and northwest Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania for Monday through Friday evening. The NWS says "prolonged dangerously hot conditions with heat index values in excess of 100" degrees are possible.
Ironically, the official start of summer is not until next Thursday, June 20. This year's Summer Solstice arrives at 4:50 p.m., marking the year's longest day. As we welcome this summer season, we will already be in the middle of a DANGEROUS stretch of heat.

Remember, northeast Ohio, we've been through this type of heat before. We will never get the heat that Texas and Vegas and Arizona get. Also remember, this isn't near polar vortex winter. We eagerly await so many months for summer to come. We can get through this. It's only for just this week. It's making such news due to what's going on in the world. We will be fine. Just drink water and stay in the shade and we will be fine.

Hot in the summer? Whoda thunk? I grew up in Cleveland, Fifties to Eighties. Loved that 98 with 99% humidity.
