I really appreciate that you are making this. Qud is a game I've been looking at buying for several years now, but it seems quite daunting to get into. I missed the stream for this so I appreciate you making shorter tutorial videos out of it! Thank you for your hard work!

I actually prefer this type of content, as a viewer that doesn't get a ton of free time to watch really long vod type videos, I enjoy these more focused episodic type series

i remember when it first came out it didnt have the roleplay mode so no saving no exceptions. very difficult. but very rewarding and fun for being such a graphically simple game.
Qud is decieveingly easy compared to alot of other games we play. The crypticness clears up real fast if you keep playing and running characters down mid. Expert in no time. (100 hours just hit level 27 on my mutant warden multiweapon fighter, 2 arms, clairvoyance and a dream.)
In Joppa you can talk to the Warder and there is a hidden “staircase down” just north of the water wheel.
COQ seems indeed to be a great game, as I´ve learned from Sseth.

Nice video! I need to give Caves of Qud another try! I don't think it's feasible for you to mention every key you are using, but It might be useful having something showing the pressed keys on the screen.
yeah that is not going to happen. All the buttons are on screen and clickable.
They are. But there are some pieces that are so confusing there's no way to follow it. For instance the moment that you've opened "the confusing AF part of the UI" during the video is really confusing :-)
Literally got paid yesterday and today went “ I think I’m gonna try to learn caves of qud” and now my favorite tutorial creator is on it lol

Wait, there are icons for abilities? How do i turn them on?
It's weird; I hate permadeath in games but really couldn't play CoQ any other way than permadeath, just feels so immersive
How did you get the icons in your actions bar?
Ive gotten pretty strong and while playing without permadeath doesn’t make me play as smart it sure is a lot more enjoyable then dying and restarting over and over lmao
I can't start in joppa any more, the quests take so long. Gathering the wire particularly. I'd rather search parsangs any day than slog through the qudzu hole again.
I've got stuck in unfinishable random quests enough times that I slog through joppa. Whatever works lol.
why does yr ability list have icons… is that a setting or a mod?

Hey some feedback:
I love your long form tutorials and play through of Dwarf Fortress because they’re dense with learning material. In this case, it kinda falls flat as you spend time reading verbose descriptions of examine or whatever it was. That doesn’t help if the idea is to teach. I understand it’s an RPG but the tutorial doesn’t need to convert your generated lore. Just how to find the lore and interpret it so decisions can be made. This is more of a play through than a tutorial. Just some feedback for the next one. Looking forward to your DF Adventure mode tutorials when it launches. Thank you for introducing me to Styx and DD. Forever grateful. ❤
I tend to agree, the issue here is I'm not actually that good at qud. I know the basics but I am far from an expert unlike my ungodly hours in df. This is almost more of a tutorial for me and my attempt and doing an explained early game run for folks to follow.

No play classic the first 2 or three times and then switch over to roleplay trust me. you wont have to wait long cause you will die really fast. also I would not do joppa for at least some of the peramdeath ones.
Hey, horizon may be a modern triple A soulless trash fire but I happened to enjoy my playthrough
If you are a new player don't actually play roleplay. This game is cool and there is a ton of cool stuff to see. But it's way more satisfying when you do it on permadeath. Trust me.
really? i mean fearing death more might incentivize you to play more safe, but trying to go to any area with new enemies will probably get you killed until you learn what the enemies do, and it's really painful to go all the way back to the start when you're learning
@@yubbo3 well it honestly depends on your time table and mindset. I lost 20 characters before I got out of the "tutorial area" but it was fun exploring possibilities and builds each time. But if you are about the story maybe it would be better to just play roleplay. Tho I have a friend that has 100% the same taste in games as I, but he played on roleplay and he doesn't like the game that much and I love it. We rate every game within 1 point of deviation but he got bored with qud after getting to Golgotha and I have "finished" countless playthroughs. Tho finished is probably not the correct way of saying it as you really need to set your own goals after you do the main story once. Until it gets expanded that is.
@@HalIOfFamerYeah, I have a similar situation with my friend, but I think the problem might be the build? Like he just died 10 times in a row with an extremely low toughness esper, and its like yeah sure someone who is really good would be able to survive, but if you just switched to a build that doesn't die from 2 melee hits you would have a lot more fun. Maybe that's why permadeath is more fun for you, because you can change and adapt your build right after you die.
Yeah, no. Not trying to be rude but this game has hundreds of knowledge checks, and it's not worth starting over each time you make a mistake.
Hard pass on this take. Like learn to play and then see about going hardcore. And yah like he said is still stupid hard and you’ll lose progress anyways but u won’t lose it all
