The oven toast needs high heat and not low heat and air, because that actually is just dehydrating the bread, need high raw heat to toast
and do not pre-butter it.

I just give them a good wash, and eat them, leaves and all. It's all good.
No need to feel self conscious! I usually just hold onto the stems and leaves with my fingers and eat around them and toss the bits I don’t eat. 🤷🏻♀️😂 we all have our methods. If it works it works!

Your failed toasting toast in the oven attempts made something we call 'Zwieback' wich means translated literally 'twice baked'. My father was a sailor and he told me that 'Zwieback' has been a staple on sailing cruises back in the day when there was no electricity or fridges on board, since the 'Zwieback' was edible for months, we're fresh bread would have expired very fast on deck.
Mrs Barry should get a sign made saying " Step away from the toaster!" .

I always feel so weirded out whenever Barry hollows out a strawberry. Do people really do that? You're wasting so much of the fruit. Just remove the leafy bit and eat it.
That's exactly what I thought! The centre has never had a gross taste or texture to me.
when i was a kid, we had a patch, so it was pick, wipe off on shirt (maybe wash with hose) and eat rigth there in patch as pick more, so i never has cored one

The toast would’ve worked without the fan on. You basically created a food hydrator. Might try that and see if it works better.

For the strawberry I always use a straw (you put the straw at the bottom and push like the whole ‘core’ out of it including the green)
I used to make fruit buffets and platters for a living (So much fun😑) we just used to use a drinking straw to core strawberries. Stick it through the bottom and it will take the middle and stalk out in a neat little tube, takes 1 second. But I appreciate that someone like Barry is exploring the frontier of fruit coring to see if there could be an even easier way haha
The fruit pots require a wide-mouth mason jar, especially for the jar-salads. Tho you can get apple-sauce pots that will fit a standard mason jar.
I think the issue with the salad jar hack is that the jar needs to be a wide mouth jar rather than a regular mouth jar. Always a joy to watch though!

The toaster hack for reheating pizza will not only burn your house down but it'll keep you warm during winter
In the US, we have a standard mouth jar, and a wide mouth jar for canning. You would need the wide mouth jar for the salad one. We did that many years ago.

160 C seems really low for toasted bread...
I think the issue for the salad one...is that it was likely made in the US...and the size of your containers vs ours are completely different.
When ever my Mom would bake bread and want toast with it, she's cut the loaf into thicker slices that wouldn't fit in a conventional toaster slot so what she would do is just hold the bread on a rack over the burner. Worked great.

Barry, using the fan in the oven effectively makes it a dehydrator. You didn't make toast, you just dehydrated bread. It might work better if you put it under a broiler.

Empty the crumb tray first on the toaster,,,, when you tipped it sideways you would have spilt crumbs on the heating elements causing the smoke issue .... and try oven toast at a higher heat

My mum used to make us toast in oven when we were kids. You have to put on oven to the hottest setting and only butter one side. And don’t brown too much. More golden than brown.

You need a wide mouth mason jar for the salad hack. The flat part is the lid, the screw part is the ring.
With all that lovely dry dry bread, you can make bread pudding! Yummy!

With the toaster grilling I would suggest you wrap them in grease proof paper like those toaster bags
I use my egg slicer to slice my button mushrooms when cooking breakfast. Great hack :-)

For the strawberry one to get the white bit out use a straw pushed through the end first (the pointy end) right through and takes the whole core out
I cooked things using a toaster before, as it's basically an oven but with food close to the heating element so it cooks in less time (heating elements usually heat up about 50-100°c more than the heat it circulates in order to maintain the temperature setting, while gas powered is always active at a specific setting)
For the jar and the salad, you need a wide mouthed canning jar and it works perfectly.
You can just butter the top side of the cheese toastie when you have put the slice of bread on

The food storage container TM hack is very eco and reduces plastic usage . it gets my SEAL of approval......
The bread in the oven is how my mum used to make “rusks” for me and my friends when we were at play school.......it was very different times in the early 80’s and money was obviously tight!!! Although watching you cook the bread took me right back and I could even toast it! Brilliant episode, thanks guys x

I make jar salads but I layer everyone and you dont need the extra pots. You put the dressing on the bottom, any toppings (I like the cooked like chicken strip things) croutons, bacon bits, nuts, whatever you want. By putting the toppings there it keeps the lettuce you top it with dry. Then like I said you top it with your lettuce of choice. These are bomb and I use the tall skinny mason jars by ball.

For the toast oven one, you need higher heat and less time. You need to blast it with a lot of heat very quickly, enough to almost burn the outside before the inside's moisture has time to evaporate.
