You can definitely see Saenchai started to slip back into a more intense, serious "fighter" mindset toward the last seconds of round 3, and that energy lit something inside him midway in round 4.
Pretty sure Saenchai's gesture in the beginning of round 4, the "hug", is him attempting to remind himself to loosen up and not get too serious. He could tell he's being hyped up into a full fight mindset.
I think he felt the impact of your tactical adjustments after the first three rounds, and began to slip into higher and higher intensity once you started to find more success with your feints, which opened him up more (otherwise he just eats leg kicks all day and block/parry/trap everything else).
In addition to that, you started to really push your reach advantage in round 4, and landed a much higher volume of crisp jabs and crosses with the help of posting against him with your long guard.
After taking a few to his forehead, Saenchai's instincts kicked in hard, and his counter overhand right got super fast and more forceful, and he hopped in with his counter-knee with intensitiy.
How he "woke up" at 11:18 was fascinating to see. What a master, such grace and a good heart.

It's not like Jeff was going hard, which often happens with people (mostly amateurs) who get too excited that they're sparring Saenchai. If anything, Jeff was being much more careful.
It may simply be that Saenchai was intentionally teaching Jeff by applying constant pressure and sweeps, since Jeff relies a lot on movement, misdirection, and kicks.

What a privilege to be able to watch this and learn from it. I can only imagine how great it must've been for you to actually participate, Jeff. Thanks for sharing this. 🙂While everyone marvels at Saenchai for his highlight reel signature moves (overhand left, left kicks, flying knees, cartwheel kick, sweeps), the thing that truly amazes me about him is that his fight IQ is so high it allows him to break the "rules" we've discussed on your channel before that smaller fighters like he and I normally have to do to stay alive. He doesn't dodge and weave and move around constantly. He comes forward in a slow and deliberate pace and never backs away as if he was actually a heavyweight fighter. He constantly pressures instead of hit and running. He uses both physical and verbal fakes (the mind games as you put it). He crosses the centerline right into the other fighter's ideal striking zone which would normally be suicide in order to execute his flying knees and sweeps. And he gets away with it all and makes it look so effortless. He truly is a unique fighter and deserves all his accolades as we can see here.

As a Thai I have to say I agree my friend, Muaythai is all about attack and receive the attack and counterattack, just like the Kru will teach Nak-Muay to Check the kick not to dodge the kick. This art was designed for fighting with a lot of enemies at the same time like in a war so dodge is not the best way to go sometimes when you have a very limited area and what you could only do is fighting with the strong based and receive the damage with the right moves and then counterattack to finish.
So muaythai fighters they do not have a footwork but they instead have their own Muaythai fighting Rhythms when they fight to make their base strong and most of the time they all will try to fight in a very close distance to finish their opponents.

But even with your normal footage, it might be nice if you started recording in 60fps for sparring footage at least. 60fps looks a lot more natural for sparring and you can get a lot more detail about it. • @TheDocbach

Maybe Jeff will answer you differently, but I could see that Jeff was getting in some good work when he kept Seachai at mid distance by mixing his jabs, crosses and low kicks like at 2:30 - 2:46 & 4:23-4:40. Jeff has a reach and somewhat of a striking speed advantage so he tried to use it.
But you have to understand that Seanchai has over 350 professional fights. There really isnt anything he hasnt seen or dealt with in the ring. He will patiently block or get hit by jabs and low kicks to set up his offense. Even as a 42 year old, his nervous system still has Muay Thai cooked into it from a long prospourous fight career.
