- In this video we have a battle between two of the best small hot hatches on the market. The 2015 Mini Cooper S Type F56 takes it up against the 2014 Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione. The Mini has 34 more BHP but de Fiat is 200 KGS lighter. Who will win the battle of the pocket rockets? See it in the video!

Woulda been nice to see a real clutch dump at the start from the abarth. The traction control isn’t gonna allow it to spin and hold it up but that aggressive start woulda held better against an automatic on a start.

Try it against the 180 Competizione using the Garrett 1446 turbo, not the 160 with older turbo. Mini is slightly heavier, but has the weight to keep the power down and with more Bhp and torque, not to mention an extra 600cc. Will be great to see these two again with the 180bhp 595.
then try it with john cooper works mini.
@@petarulev6977 that's not a even contest still, but if you want, the cooper works could be a match for the 695 biposto which has about 190bhp, still less than cooper works by a fair bit, plus the abarth is a 1.4 litre.

You have a newer automatic Mini with launch control against an older much less powerful, manual Abarth...

Il senso di un test con un auto con 32 cavalli meno me lo spiegate? I test si fanno per pari cilindrata e potenza e se possibile stesso segmento. Questi test cosi lasciano il tempo che trovano, senza nulla togliere ad entrambe le auto che sono stupende.

Why use an old mk1 abarth ? New comp abarth is 180bhp
With the series 3 of the Abarth Fiat/FCA introduced a new function in the ECU to keep sure the car will stay within legal law regarding the engine/exhaust noise emissions, so when you give full throttle the ECU often cuts down the power, delivering a full three seconds total power failure. According to the FCA this is working as entended.

I own an 500 Abarth. At 10, 000 $ US more for an equivalent Mini, forget it. Went Fiat.
This isn't a good comparison. The fiat is the convertible, and the mini is an automatic. Plus there is a power difference.

Reason I never paid any attention to the Mini is that the dashboard is ugly as sin. I am more than happy with my Abarth.

Abarth is shit
Ive had both the Cooper S and Abarth 595. I found the Abarth handled better on twisty roads even when pushed fairly hard. The Cooper S tended to lose grip too easily on the front end, didn't feel as secure in corners. Maybe thats because the Abarth is shorter, dont know, not an expert. Cheers anyway.
The MINI probably understeered most likely due to the tires. If both are on PS4S or grippier tires, the Abarth will tend to rollover due to its top heavy and short wheel base nature when pushed to 10/10ths .

gypzino il peso varia di appena 100-150 chili mentre di motore di parla di una netta differenza. Basta guardare anche le competizioni e vedere i tempi; l’abarth vince.

@@7CRISTIAN1 non sono 200kg ma appena circa 80kg scarsi di differenza (pesi reali) su masse sospese, in più la 595 di questa prova ha pure l'enorme svantaggio di avere il cambio MTA che come noto non prende quasi nessuno per ovvie ragioni. La Mini andava confrontata con la Competizione 180cv manuale con la Biposto 190 con cambio a innesti frontali, altrimenti allora prendiamo una Cooper da 136cv e la mettiamo a confronto con un Abarth da 180cv...della serie ci piace vincere facile! Test del tutto fuoriluogo

The 2014 comp has an IHI turbo so would explain why the mini won. The 2015 comp has the Garrett. The 2015 comp would piss all over that mini.

@@zanethebest2323 capisci niente di macchine...piu cavalli non vuol dire solo piu velocità di punta...prima di tutto la 180cv competizione esce gia con la nuova turbina garret e gia li gudagna poco piu di mezzo secondo sullo 0 a 100...quindi gia non è solo velocita di punta ma si parla anche di incremento in accelerazione...e ha un tiro piu costante e progressimo rispetto alla 160...quindi informati prima e ti parlo cosi siccome era la mia vecchia macchina....quindi detto ciò credimi che con la 180cv la mini non banfava piu di tanto gia che la 160 gli è stata tutto sommato dietro di poco

CSR TV mini is 2.0, that is almost 1 and half abarth engines, whatever you say, there are plenty of abarth models that are closer to the mini not that I care, I destroyed a jcw on my esseesse and kept up with an a45 amg, but if you want to make a quality comparison, bring the correct car
