It is, but the allies had lend lease policies allowing them to borrow equipment from each other - hence the British using fireflies. Sometimes you'll find pictures likewise of Soviets using British valentines and bren gun carriers.
These video tutorials are ace, I've painted up a box of T-34/85's following the methods in the SU-100 and M4 76 vids, with great results. Can't wait to see more vids.
Thanks Jeff. I gave it a go and got unbelievable results in a incredibly small amount of time. I guess the only other comment is can we have infantry and gun vids as well! :)
@FOWJeff I hope you have got the Cromwell video done soon, I have shermans from the box sets ( BBX08 Armoured Platoon ). I have found and started to use some of your ideas that you haved put on the vidoes. Great Job!!
Yes the Sherman is from the U.S but during World War 2 Soviet Tank production was extremely low until 1943 so the allies gave Russia some of their tanks to fight the Germans despite how combat ineffiecent the Sherman was but it's numbers got the job done in the West.
DRBWildlife Sherman with 75mm was pretty crap. The 76mm one was alot better, but still crap. The Sherman firefly, if I remember correctly, was actually a good tank.
A very helpful video. Do you think flat clear varnish (like tamiya or acryl) applied with a brush would work to seal everything in? I prefer to avoid spray cans, but I often find that applying flat clear over a gloss coat never totally "de-glossifies" it. Any suggestions?
Fantastic video, really helpful tutorials provided! About the Matt varnish what brand of Matt varnish can I buy that comes already in a can? I am down in Australia. Can I use something like Humbrol Matt Varnish spray or Army Painter anti-shine Matt Varnish? Thanks!!
@imperialkitty SBX15 M4 76mm Sherman Tankovy Company will be out early in the New Year, alternatively you can use these same techiques on SU885 Kapitan Dmitriy Loza.
excellent video, is very helpful. can you do one for afrika korps vehicles? im trying to recreate the black in between all the spaces, and around the bolts? how does one do that? it boggles my little mind..:-s lol
