The perfect follow-up in the trilogy and Songs From The Wood and Heavy Horses could have easily made a double album with the material that was written for both of them. Another one of my fave Tull albums and I might very well give this a BLAST! tonight.

`I just discovered these videos yesterday. I'm loving them. My introduction to Jethro Tull was with Aqualung when it was released, i was 15 at the time. But my all time favorite Tull album is Songs from the Wood, as well as Heavy Horses and Stormwatch.

100% agree with you about Martin Barre. What a splendid guitarist.
Heavy Horses was my first Tull album, bought on release due to Moths being played on South African radio back then. A radical choice for a teen devouring Blondie, The Police, Elvis Costello etc at the time. After that, I was scouring the record shops for their back catalogue.

And thank God they included " Bursting Out" without the irritating BLEEPING. That actually put me off listening to that album .

Another excellent Tull set. Probably my fave of the albums after TAAB. Overall this set is as equally excellent as many Tull sets. Lots of bonus stuff but more of a mixed bag due to some slightly unfinished material

Hey again Phil, Yes Martin Barre is one of the most underrated , versatile GTR-ists. I really miss his presence on the recent I.A./Tull albums. As you probably know, he does have several solo albums and has been touring (playing a lot of Tull tunes), I have still not heard of the reason on why he left, besides working on his "own projects"?? ...I would guess it was possibly a matter of $$$ also ??, Oh well, his work has been captured, for all of us to enjoy on these discs.

Re Martin Barre ... awesome guitarist .... however, if memory serves from a fairly recent interview with Ian Anderson, I think Ian appeared to have reached the point of being a bit [i.e. totally] frustrated (my interpretation) re Martin's failure to respond to emails in a timely manner, being on time, etc ... just a basic failure to make things as easy, simple and straightforward as possible, logistically, for Ian re running / operating [controlling ?] a band ... it sounded like Ian just got too frustrated one time too many and moved on to working with future [Ian Anderson solo] band members that made his life easier ... clearly it would have had nothing to do with Martin's majestic musical ability ... there may have been other reasons (Ian just fancying a change) but the "too much hard work / hassle" component might have been the catalyst ... at least all of the foregoing is my [potentially inaccurate ?] understanding .... anyway, awesome band, and the era from Sings From the Wood through Broadsword is superb ... pity I missed out on the deluxe Songs From the Wood box set though .... sloppy .... I was late-ish to the Tull box set gig (a failing on my part) but started to get the deluxe sets from Heavy Horses onward ... [pity I missed out on Songs From the Wood - bugger] ... Re Heavy Horses, the re-mix of the studio album is, genuinely, just fabulous and, after repeated listens, has become, I think, my favourite Jethro Tull album ... just superb (then its Broadsword, Songs From the Wood ... closely followed by Stand Up, Thick as a Brick and Crest of a Knave) .... the track Journeyman is a classic example of lesser known Tull tune from Heavy Horses that is just wonderful ... great great album .... the extra tracks in the set are excellent and the concert is a nice complement to Bursting Out ( ... agree that a deluxe version of Bursting Out would be very welcome) ... although I don't have a "fancy" set up I can totally reccomend the modest outlay to allow you to play the BluRay / DVD HiRes version of the studio album on a BluRay pr DVD player then taking the HDMI signal into a video / audio splitter gizmo thingy to get HiRes audio into a DAC to hear the audio in all its glory ... it is worth the effort to hear the album, pretty much, as if in the recording studio ... just fabulous. This has led me to exploring / enjoying other HiRes music on DVD or BluRay without fussing about with 5.1, Dolby Atmos, etc. (Qobuz is also great) ... Great set of videos in this series - thanks ....CMcG, Aberdeen, Scotland ... p.s. looking forward to the reissue of the Thick As A Brick set due in next wee while ... here's hoping a successful reissue sets a precedent for the others ...

Agree Phil. Time for reissues and at least it's about to happen with Thick As A Brick. The insane online prices certainly demonstrate the demand that's out there. The problem might be that they are presumably very low profit sets, in terms of the production costs. I don't think anyone would blanch at £60 a pop for these, maybe even a bit more. Certainly a lot better than the frightening prices these are going for on EBay/Discogs etc. Also agree that Martin Barre is absolutely amazing. When I saw Tull live that was absolutely reinforced.
