I relate. i had an over bite, but like you my first set of braces made my teeth worse and DID NOT fix the problem that i needed, the next orthodontist actually fix my mouth. and i am grateful for that. i had braces for 5 years, and got them off at 16. teeth are pain

If I had a nickel for every dentist horror story I've seen by a storytime animator, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
I know this pain.
I got a set of braces with the palette extender. They did take it off after a few months, but the rest of the braces stayed for another 2 years.
Then another year later, I got more put on. They stayed for another 2 years, but when we went in for the removal appointment, they realized that they had put them in wrong!!
So they corrected them, and then they had to stay for another two years! This time I also had a spring thing installed on a few that was supposed to push those teeth apart. This thing was like a freaking cheese grater on my cheek, I had to stuff my mouth with wax in order to try and not gouge out my gums. Then there was another metal ring inserted between one tooth and another that was crooked. My gums grew over it, and I told them this when they were taking it out, but they didn’t believe me, so when they did try to take it out, it just sliced my gums up for about 15 minutes before they noticed.
Braces are pure torture.
I know dentist pain too when I was younger my dentist pulled both of my canine teeth out without any numbing, he just told me be prepared I'm going to yank out the first one then the next one.
That’s my case too, the palette expander is awful I had it in for six months and getting food stuck in it is the worst

Why is there so little violence?
For me, the palate expander is worse than the braces. EVERY single time I eat I have to wash out my mouth with water like 60 times + the pure torture of trying to get the food out from the lines of the expander
I had braces for 2 years, and I had to get four teeth pulled out (two on the top and two on the bottom). I had a giant over bite and my bottom teeth were crowding. Those two years of pain were WORTH it! My teeth are much easier to clean without all the crowding at the bottom and the over bite doesn't hide my bottom teeth as much anymore. My face was swollen most of the time because I guess my mouth is just REALLY sensitive. Thanks for reading this all the way!

Hearing about your wisdom tooth surgery made me think of my first MRI scan when i was still very young. I don't remember why i had to get it done all i remember is we went to the hospital, they stuck me with a needle that hurt as usual, sat me up in a small hospital bed like the ones they have in the back of ambulances.
As they where getting ready to put me to sleep they had the tube connected to the syringe in my arm and i was actually able to watch the white sleep inducing fluid go through the tube like one of those plastic crazy straws.
THE EXACT MOMENT the fluid reached the end of the tube and went into my body my vision became pitch black instantly and just as quickly as i was knocked out i find myself waking up in a wheelchair feeling incredibly drowsy despite the whole awake, asleep, awake again experience seeming to happen in the span of 5 seconds

Bryson is officially the best animation CZcamsr out there.. He posted 2 full length videos in the span of a month whilst for other animators it takes them 4 - 6 months to make one full length video.

on the flipside, when i was 13 my mom and the dentist let me decide whether i wanted braces for my incredibly janky teeth, i SAID NO and proceeded to develop mouth-destroying cavities between ALL of my janky teeth so now i need dentures at 42! having my wisdom teeth pulled was legit the best dental experience i've ever had. there should be an option for all dental procedures to be done under general anesthesia. (side note, your appendix is not actually vestigial, it stores beneficial gut bacteria for re-balancing your gut microbiome after illness)
My dentist was always rlly good and had pictures of animals on the ceiling so I would be more comfortable. It was amazing, sad he retired after he finished off my braces

I had to get caps once and the metal in my mouth felt nice against my tongue (it was the back 8 teeth, on top, bottom, and both sides. Anyways I also had baby teeth halfway grown under baby teeth that weren't even loose yet so I had to pull them out myself as per dentist instructions or THEY'D pull them out. Also my wisdom teeth came in early and crooked so that was fun. Also once a new dentist asked me "Did he have his tonsils removed?" Because apparently my tonsils are SO SMALL that they thought I didn't have any.

when I was in kindergarten, my best friend had dental crowns and he'd always talk about him being a robot, making me really badly want them, and so when I got a bunch of cavities and I had to get them, I loved it. Then they came out, and I was absolutely devastated lmao

This is insane, i have experienced the EXACT same dental trauma, save getting braces on my baby teeth.
I had all the same stuff as you, including the drastic overbite,and it took 5 grueling years to correct, but i had even MORE metal than what you described 😅 (including but not limited to expansion bars, chains, and 2 semi-permanent retainers, and then a permanent one that i later in life demanded be removed)

The dentist tried to convince my mom to get me braces once. I am very glad she didn't let them. Also, I completely agree about the tail bone thing. I went ice skating, didn't even brake mine and it still hurts if I sit for too long 2 years later!

I didnt follow the rules with my braces and I was fine. Candy would get stuck sometimes but I was always able to get it out. I think the orthodontists are being a little too cautious :)

Fun fact: that's why 3 years ago I threatened my mom with extreme physical violence over not wanting braces bc I eat popcorn and many other foods that you cant eat with braces daily and my teeth were perfectly fine
