As a cat expert, cats show their bellies not as a trap, but as a kind of trustfall and they don’t like their bellies rubbed because their organs are unprotected under their belly. Some cats do like belly rubs though
Tip: If you want to pet cats, be calm, gentle, and approach them slowly. Don’t make fast movements, make slow ones. Also, cats’ bellies, are more sensitive there. They don’t show you their belly as a trap, but because they trust you. Also, cats do return affection, just in different ways than dogs. They might hunt an animal, and bring them to you, if they move their tail slowly, from side, to side, that means they like you,(but if they do that, but fast, that means they’re agitated,) and rubbing up against you legs, is also a sign of affection, kneading, which is where they sort of extend their paws, and claws/nails, is also a sign of affection, and-of course-purring. My cat doesnt think i'm a kitten if she straight up grabs a twist tie and demands me to throw it so we can play fetch but she still lets me rub her belly- I dont think thats the case pretty sure its a sign of trust since your weak spot is your stomach, 1 wound there and you might as well be known as deceased.

@@WubbleDubble1 yeah so story time I don't remember this that much but when I was in Georgia possibly about two maybe three I was a dumb stubborn and tricky lad there's a lot of hilarious baby stories but we had three cats two females one male the male ended up getting both of them pregnant we had 13 cats I don't exactly know what happened to all of them but when we moved to Florida (when I was five and I'm still living here at 22 almost 23) I had two cats named Iceman and I believe something that rhymed with bologna because I called her bologna and we're just going to call her bologna for the sake of this story was a very rude cat and I didn't really like her not many people in our family did but Iceman was a really nice cat I loved him with all my heart so we lost both of them come to find out after a while of searching and asking people people bologna was apparently lost in the woods she's dead by now I guarantee it and Iceman they actually saw a cat just like him getting run over by a car just by your street when we came home I cried for a long time it's just sad thinking about it but what happened in the past happened in the past she was my favorite cat and we have had a cat since but I've met a couple cats somewhere nice couple of mean and I remember my mom's friend having three cats one was shy but getting more braver as she saw us and the names were Cayro, Loki, and Teddy or tedrick Cayro and Loki were really nice cats but Teddy he was like a mix he was happy at some points and then suddenly mad at others that's basically all I remember about cats but yeah I agree you are lucky that you got a good one

Here's a fun story. One time I went to Winnipeg on a school field trip to the zoo. Later all of us went to this massave MASSIVE park place to eat and play. Me and some boys where taken somewhere to massave pond. Where we saw frogs and ducks. The boys kept throwing rocks at the mamma duck and I told them to stop. But they didn't. Later the duckes swam over close to where I was watching them. The mom each minute swam closer and slowly. I sat still not to scare her and her ducklings. Finally she took one last look at me and back at her ducklings and trusted to walk past me. It was so cute and kind to see the duck look at me in a way of saying thank you and giving some courage and trust to walke right past me to get to the other side. I stayed a bit close but not all the way beside them so I won't scare them away. The boys came to me and was like "wow. They don't trust us but they trust you" I told them that ofc it was because they threw rocks at them. The boys walked away and soon the ducks swam away in peace❤ something I'll never forget

I see a lot of people failing to befriend cats because they're just going about it the wrong way.. Don't approach a cat like it's a dog, like you KNOW its going to respond positively to you, approach it like its another human being, be chill. Cats pick up on your energy like static, and too much energy (Even positive energy, like excitement at seeing a cute kitty), will freak them out. This is the same reason why cats tend to approach the one person in the room who genuinely doesn't like them, because that person is the only person who isn't freaking out. Imagine if you approached a stranger on the street with the same energy you show a dog - Would you be freaked out? Chances are, ya would. That, or you're the kinda person who'd def hop into a mans van if he told you he had candy inside.
I feel like I got the exact opposite "spiritual energy" to you, cats tend to approach me a lot, while dogs.. Seem to get confused by me, lol. Maybe it's because I don't hype them up, or fawn over them excessively? Sadly most of my experiences with dogs in the past have been negative ones. I did bond with one really sweet dog while doing work experience at a vets though, but it's not exactly like she had a choice since.. She was so sick she couldn't stand, so she couldn't exactly walk away from me. :( I just sat with her and kept her company, she was sweet. Sadly, other dogs just don't like me usually, lol.

Finally someone who knows how to treat cats with respect! I honestly think they are much smarter than dogs, they know they won't have to listen to you all the time. They also know they are not our pets, they're more like friends, they know that and they're proud of it.

Man. I don't know about you but I chill with cats, cats chill with me.
I have a cat, Tom (Used to a stray) and when I was really young, I picked him up and hugged him. A trip to the ER and only recently (6 years later) does he let me pets his belly, pick him up, and love him. I love cats, and I'm a magnet for them, so they love me! Dog are sweet but, they are header to take care of for they need a lot more affection (Which you can't give if you're at work a lot) and more care. For example cats don't need to be taken on walks or be trained. (Besides litter boxes) I loves dogs too, but if you're busy a lot, or you can't be bothered to take a dog on a walk, cats are a good pet.
Yep. I have a pet tuxedo cat named Bubba, he’s a big boi and doesn’t need too much affection. Now he’s not a total arsehole unlike most cats, he LOVES humans but will murder any other animal taking into the household🤷♀️
