- The GR Yaris was widely hailed as a success; a true drivers' car born from the world of WRC and licensed for the road, allowing us amateurs a taste of what World Rally feels like.
Greg Parton, of Durban, South Africa, has been racing most of his life. His most recent racecar was a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo, so when it came to his need for a commuter, he probably had higher expectations than us normal folk.
And so he set out to build what must be one of the craziest GR Yaris's on earth, and he shares his story and his car with us in this video.

I love people that actually drive their vehicles, even more for people who try to improve how it looks. Then the ultimate respect for those that modify the performance. Glad he's not concerned about mileage and depreciation.
Warranty sometimes can cost you time waiting to replace and repair something

The GR is incredible especially on UK roads.
The MOST sensible mod is the seat delete. The 2 mods I want are the sequential + exhaust. Haha.

I love the fact that exterior is stock. No silly rear wing or body kit adornments. The stock OEM BBS rims are also perfect. Stealth tune will give great element of surprise for the street. great job. Mine is stock for UK and still great fun for the roads

There’s nothing for a GR yaris! All car brands should take a note out of Toyotas book. All wheel drive, 200KW, drifting and won’t cost you a arm and a leg👏🏻

You could save weight using aluminium Lotus Elise discs, calipers and lightweight wheels. Ally discs are much lighter than steel, and because it's unsprung weight, you effectively make greater savings than you would trimming sprung weight... and you improve handling, braking and lap times.
The forged standard wheels are pretty light 👍

I have one (stock) and its buckets of fun. Just a question though, why does it rev so low? Is it the tune that requires you not to rev it as high as stock?

A bit strange that this oak went through all the trouble of making the windows polycarbonate all round, replacing pieces with carbon fibre and putting an emphasis on the exhaust being lightweight titanium but he's got a fat sub in the boot anyway. Not critisising at all, I respect the build, it's really OEM plus but it just seemed to stand out to me.
It's a daily that's why and when he goes to the track he just removes it. Easy as pie

Well, as a German it's a bit difficult. As Greg and the mechanic speak completely different dialects it isn't that obvious. So for my ears Greg sounds like an OZ. And I don't have any information about the car market in South Africa, while I know that the Yaris is a widespread car in Australia.
