    I used it for 2 weeks, it is the worst upgrade done. Lot of things don't work. Very difficult to find out why things are not working. I switched back. It consumes lot of time. Waste of time. Don't switch

  • @gerawan
    @gerawan Před 2 měsíci +16

    New Outlook is a massive degradation of function and features. Being able to pin and snooze is nice, but scheduling has always been available, as has "my day"-type features. (Snooze has also been available for decades using simple third-party add-ons.)
    Power users will be frustrated by New Outlook's lack of important features and functions that proper Outlook had evolved with over decades. Obviously, Microsoft has determined that features and functions aren't necessary to retain users, so they've intentionally degraded Outlook, knowing that it's a huge step backward for power users.
    It's surprising that Andy would suggest we switch when surely he too must be frustrated by the loss of so much function in New Outlook.

      Amen! I quickly changed back to old Outlook when I realised this. But I'm sure Mickey$oft will soon force us to use New Outlook. They are in a position to do so. User friendliness has never been on the agenda for M$.

  • @hogne
    @hogne Před 2 měsíci +27

    The new UI is a huge improvement, but after testing New Outlook for a few days, I realised that it's missing WAY too many features that the original ugly looking Outlook has. In the new Outlook I have none of the integrations with third party tools that I have with my old Outlook. In addition, the integration between OneNote and New Outlook is virtually non-existant. There is no way to send an email into OneNote in New Outlook, something that is essential to my working day. Also: You cannot save emails as neither .eml nor .msg to disc. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I know that New Outlook is simply just web outlook in a container running as a PWA, but Microsoft really shouldn't offer a NEW version, that doesn't contain all the functionality that you are used to from the old version. So no, I won't switch to new Outlook. All the missing features of New Teams were enough of a frustration.

    The reason I havent switced yet is the following:
    I usually collapse my emails in my inbox:
    Today
    This Week
    Last Week
    Etc.
    Older
    I can mark these groups and quickly delete ALL the e-mail in the following groups.
    You can do that in the older outlook.

    Heyy !,
    So i actually wanted some help with the new outlook which is recently launched. Now in the old or the regular outlook whenever we had any emails with attachments, double clicking on them could open the attachments in your desktop ms office word or excel or ppt. But with this new Outlook, it only allows you to save the document first and then open in the desktop apps. If not saved it redirects to onedrive and then opens the document in a browser. This issue has been there since the start.
    Now i have a MS 365 subscription in my MS Office and i use multiple accounts but since i have a 365 subscription i should be able to open the attachments in desktop apps, but there is an issue where if i open any attachment from my licensed account it allows me, but in the same outlook if i go to another account (you can add multiple accounts but can have same license) it doesnt open in the desktop apps. I am attaching a few screenshots which might help you out understand the problem.
    So i want to know if there is an option to open all attachments in desktop apps as the old outlook used to, or anyway to activate the non license account with MS 365 activation having this new outlook

  • @maximrybchenko6578
    @maximrybchenko6578 Před 2 měsíci +1

    The new Outlook interface seems acceptable, but it presents significant issues:
    1. All attachments open as previews or redirect to the web browser from the desktop application, bypassing desktop PDF viewers or other programs.
    2. Clicking on the sender's email to select an attachment redirects you to the browser, opening a new tab where no actions can be performed.
    3. If the attachment is a Word document, it redirects to Word Online, which is highly inefficient. For instance, the 'Wrap Text' option doesn't function properly. Clicking on an image and selecting 'Behind Text' doesn't work, nor does the 'In Front of Text' command. Additionally, pasting a text box doesn't allow for any movement, and the wrap function is inoperable. Assistance with making these features work in Word Online would be appreciated.

    • @gerawan
      @gerawan Před 2 měsíci +3

      Indeed, it's very surprising that Andy would consider those few new features as justification to relinquish the power and function of proper Outlook. Snooze, send later, etc., have all been available in proper Outlook already.

    • @gerawan
      @gerawan Před 2 měsíci

      @Cameron_Prymak For light users, New Outlook is probably very nice. But for those of us who are quick, power users with a high volume of email and email archives, New Outlook is a big step backwards. You're using PST files with New Outlook?
      There are MANY deficiencies, and Microsoft acknowledges that New Outlook does not (and never will) have the power and functionality of proper Outlook. That's because most users nowadays don't use such features. The fact that you don't even notice the lack of functionality in New Outlook supports Microsoft's assumptions.

    • @graytonw5238
      @graytonw5238 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@molnez Agreed on that point. I write and use Outlook macros both for myself and some of my clients. All this "stuff" that Microsoft is doing for the new Outlook could have been incorporated into the client, but it feels like they're abandoning it in favor of a web-based app now (no big surprise there). I wish Microsoft would pay attention to their power user customers for a change.

    • @AndyPark365
      @AndyPark365  Před 2 měsíci +3

      Hi @gripshaft - I'm not an expert on this but I understand that the new outlook uses web or JavaScript based technology, not a traditional desktop app. It doesn't support COM add-ins. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use your existing VBA script with the new outlook.
