I wanted to keep this one as simple as possible, I hope you enjoy thanks for watching, if I get the chance for a repair, I wiil film a short part 2 to follow.

I usually don’t leave any comments anywhere. I cannot express my gratitude enough. Thank you so much for your video.
I would have never found my problem without your video. I can't imagine the savings. Thank you for taking the time.
Just wanted to say thanks for the video! After watching it I went to check my car and noticed my intake hose was ripped too and was causing my check engine light to come on. Thanks again you saved me.
Awesome diagnosis! Had the P0171 and P0101. Was going to change O2 sensor. After seeing your video, I went and checked mine. Yep cracked hose. Going to order one up. Thank you!
Thanks to you, we found the engine light issue in our car. Did a temp fix while waiting for part to come in, which cleared the error code. So happy to find the fix!
Perfect! I have been struggling with this for months. Checked the after watching the video and there it was! Problem solved.
Great video keeping on posting see a great tech in the making
This is a common problem , They used crappy rubber . Mine was broke almost in half and the dealer said everything was fine. Cost me almost 70 bucks for that rubber hose but fixed my problems.
John Hotdogs what rubber are you speaking of
@@pumpanickleP the Trojan 🤣
Saw you on Scanner Danner with his new Jeep. I am new subscriber and looking forward to more videos.
Same here!
This video saved me $300 👍 thanks bud!
I been trying to find my leak forever my hose was split as well thanks for the video man I hope this fixes my problem
Good Video,
Would be even better if you could include the part (like this hose) as an affiliate link. you would make an extra dollar + the viewer would be more satisfied. Keep on the good work ma Man!!!!!
As you remarked, extra revs wouldn't affect the fuel trims before the throttle plate.
fantastic job
Nice job
Is the issue that the recall was issued for. My car just coded this and my mechanic is saying I don't have a vacuum leak. The recall was issued a letter stating the problem was covered to 100000 miles.
Dang your good, not just a part replacer
thanks! my boot was also cracked open. Sonic 2013. hopefully gorilla tape will fix it for now.
I changed mine today. Will the light go off on its own?
Good catch!
Thanks.. sometimes you get lucky lol. Thank you for supporting this channel
nice job bro
2015 sonic 1.8 ....problem idle is up n down also after filling with gas had hard time starting couldnt see any vac leak guys says change air intake hose or fule filter or injectors been researching and says look at the pvc vaulve doraphram remove n clean if not replace for round 70 anyway any one have this problem and can help advise
This is a duct design issue. The convolutes should be in the direction of the engine roll. With the current design, engine roll creates a torsional load along the axis of the convolutes and rips the rubber along the valleys. The rock hard rubber at cold temperature certainly doesn't help. Ours had less than 50k miles when it ripped and throw the P0171.
Nice, thanks for sharing ! Would be better if you didn't included the cause in the title.
Keep on posting.
Thanks. For just this video or all my videos?
It would be nice in future uploads since your video's aren't staged. It makes us techs at home figure out what's wrong with the car while watching.
mr2law ya i like the suspense too
Got a P0171 code and couldn't figure out what was the culprit. Watched this video and had a crack in the exact same spot.
nice
I have my 2013 sonic at the dealership and was told valve cover gasket leaked, carbon build up on engine and fuel treatment is needed $998. I hope it fixes the bad idle.
My shop sees this issue a lot here in Utah. We also had one that the intake boot was ripped, fixed it, long term was still going +20. We smoked it, found the oil fill cap was loose causing a vacuum leak.
I have had a few vws like that, lean trim faults you open the hood and the dipstick is half way out because somebody checked the oil and didn't fully seat the dipstick
Change valve cover per mechanic, still have this code . Hose is fine 2015 sonic with same code
I know this is an old post but I have the same code and the traction control light comes on? Could this cause that or is that just correlation not causation?
Hey, same for me. Let me know if you found out what was causing it if you could please.
From what I read , common problem with AVEO's & ( at least early ) Sonic's . We have a 2015 Sonic , this problem has not occurred , yet . Hope they had it corrected by 2015 .
The plastic thermostat housing also falls under this category .
And the plastic " button " on the auto transmission shift lever .
But so far , we are happy with our Sonic . Inexpensive to buy and good MPG's .
God bless

sd sent me here, hi tom!
he is the man thank you for supporting this channel I hope you enjoy
i have same problem now with my sonic 2012, gracias.
I'm glad this video can help you. Thanks for watching.
This was neat...
Don't Understand why the fuel trims didn't go down when you were holding high rpm....
And yes vw's with high fuel trims cause by dipstick..sensitive cars I tell you
The reason the trims did not improve is because it was not an actual manifold vacuum leak. It was an unmetered air leak after the maf but before the throttle plate. If it were after the throttle plate. The trims would have reacted differently
And no matter what the rpm was there was always an undetected amount of air that the maf did not see
Or another thought would be maybe the leak was just to big to correct
Forgot about that one.
Thanks for the clarification...
Chev Sonics, 2012 in particular, are absolute JUNK!
Best car I have ever had.
There was a recall.
