- Fleece Blanket Sewing Tutorial | Flannel or Fleece | The Sewing Room Channel
In this sewing tutorial I'm going to demonstrate how to make a warm & snuggly blanket. This is the perfect blanket for those cold winter months. You can use either fleece or flannel fabric to make this blanket.
**EDIT: You can use fleece or flannel fabric to make this blanket. If you opt to use fleece fabric, you can still choose to use cotton batting if you would like an extra warm & snuggly blanket or you can omit the layer of cotton batting. It’s completely up to you.**

Fabulous tutorial! ❤️ A tip for patterned flannel with no lines to follow for the quilting…after marking the stitch lines with pins at the edges, add painters tape from edge to edge to mark your sewing line!

Yay! Happy Sewing!
I made several blankets from another video of yours where the backing is longer than the top fabric and you frame the entire blanket with the backing. With the mitered corners you demonstrated, it was so easy and efficient. The blankets turned out beautifully. I will try this method too. Thank you for all your ideas and great instructions!
You’re welcome ❤️😀

What perfect timing. I want to make blankets for a drive that starts in January for veterans. Dana's Wanderlust Crochet on YT is sponsoring the drive. I crochet, but I have arthritis and there's no way I can complete twin size blankets in time to send to her. I've never quilted, but I think I can do this simple pattern. Thank you! God Bless!!!! Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

Hi Terri. Glad glad you liked the fleece blanket tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
Thank you so much for this video! It's giving me lots of ideas for Christmas gifts. The video has flannel. Can Fleece also be used? It will probably be thicker and warmer.
Yes you can use fleece and it will be thicker. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
I have a LOT of fleece blankets to make. I had a hard time keeping the fabric from slipping on my first one. What do you think of using a serger for the initial seam around (so much faster), then turning and topstitching with the regular machine? I don't want the serger stitching to be visible on the edge of the blankets.
Great idea! Yes you can use a serger. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
I tahini I am going to make this my new great nephew.
Happy Sewing! 😀
Can you explain the safety pins a little bit more please?
The video says fleece but you are using flannel. Will this work with fleece?
Hi Sarah. Both types of fabric work very well in a blanket. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Could you spray baste it?
I want to make a lap quilt for my mum for when she's in her wheelchair but I don't want it to heavy so which way would be the best way of making it using batting or fannel
Hi Cheryl. I would suggest using flannel with the cotton batting over using fleece with cotton batting.
You could also add tyes to attach to handles so it does not fall off.
how do you avoid pleats on quilting sew lines at end
Hi Lee. Make sure you use a walking presser foot. Also scatter safety pins to help keep the fabric from shifting apart while doing the quilt stitches. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy holidays😍
Hi! what type of needle and threat should I use?
Hi Maria. Use a size 90/14 needle, polyester thread. Hope this helps. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

I don't see the link will help me to calculate the fabric !
Hi Lina. The link to video you’re looking for is in the description section of this video. Just in case, here is the link to the video on how to calculate fabric - czcams.com/video/IcZACAWEZg8/video.html. 😀
I want to make my mum a lap quilt
Fleece or flannel?
I'm confused too! We know flannel and fleece are two different fabrics!
I apologize for the confusion. You can use either fleece or flannel fabric. If you opt to use fleece fabric, you can still use a layer of cotton batting for an extra warm blanket or you can eliminate the cotton batting. It’s completely up to you. 😀
