    If you stretch your fleece…. It will roll towards the wrong side. That is how I can tell on a solid color.

    Great video. Who doesn’t love a good blanket? Growing up, women in the family made blankets. No one does it anymore, because they’re so inexpensive. But, when my daughter was in kindergarten, one of the moms sewed fleece blankets, and monogrammed their initials, for every child in the class. It was a Christmas gift, and totally mind blowing. 🙂

    Just a tip for the opening to turn your blanket: 1. Make your opening in the middle, not on a corner
    2. Start on one side of you opening. Sew from the edge of the fabric into your seam allowance, rotate your fabric, and sew all the way around to the other side of your opening. Then rotate your fabric again and sew to the edge again. That way when you turn your blanket, your opening is already tucked inside. I hope that made sense. I wish I could sew a straight line as well as you do. 😊

    I’m so glad I found this video of how to sew two pieces of fleece together to make a blanket. I have literally a Subaru load full of fleece to turn into blankets for the local Humane Society. I was nervous about sewing with fleece because of its thickness, it likes to move around and edges like to roll. After watching the video, I feel more comfortable about turning the mountains of fleece into blankets for the Humane Society. Thank you for such a good video.

    I’ve looked at several videos of making fleece blankets and yours is the best! You explained it so well as your a very good teacher. I’m working on sewing a unicorn blanket for my 4 year old granddaughter and I’ve never used fleece before. I appreciate that you didn’t have some distracting music or talk to much about something other then sewing.
    Where do you buy luxe fleece and Sherpa? I’m interested in the sewing machine guider but can’t find it on your Amazon store (I would like to order from you). Thanks again for a great video and bringing your daughter in at the end was wonderful as she is very precious. My God richly bless you both✝️

    I was always scared to sew fleece. I thought it was too thick to sew without an industrial machine. Thanks for the video. I'm excited to try it now!

    • @carolg.6838
      @carolg.6838 Před rokem

      It isn't too thick, but look up needle size and stitch length, I think some use a bit longer stitch length than the machine defaults to. I have sewn 2 layers of fleece as well as 2 layers of luxe on a regular machine and it was not hard.. I have a walking foot that helps 2 layers of some fabrics feed more evenly but don't remember if I used it. Some machines have an even feed setting (mine doesn't).
      Though it would not have the same professional look she used, I don't see why you can't round the corners and stitch wrong sides together then trim to maybe half an inch of the stitching. Nothing to turn and you are done. Fleece does not fray.
      If you use anything not fleece, like the kind that cause a LOT of fuzzy lint, I definitely would use her method.

    If you setup an Amazon affiliate page with all your favorite items by category, that will help those people who are either new to sewing and don't know what to buy or established sewists who may love seeing what tools/gadgets other people use. You can do this for sewing, canning, animals, even simple home electrical repairs since I saw you were/are an electrician. A woman showing electrical home repairs would absolutely set you apart since there aren't many on CZcams. I just wanted to mention some things I notice that might help you grow your channel. I love what I am seeing and subscribed today! I just found you on Tiktok this morning during your live.

    my mom was an incredible seamstress but sadly, I had zero interest in learning the skill. When she passed away a few years ago, I held onto her sewing machine which she used and treasured until late in life. I have since pulled it out and tried a few small projects, I didn’t get her talent as my lines are often not like yours! I need to find that tool you mention to help with that. I’m going to try this project but again, curious about the best thread as I’m clueless when I go to the craft store. Thank you!!
