    Kung fu bob poster book?
    Let's see a video on that. :)

    I picked up the original release of this. I gotta say, this is easily my least favorite of Jackie’s Lo Wei films, though it does have its moments. I’m tempted to upgrade just for Kung Fu Bob’s artwork, and because I’m a Jackie completist. I’ll give it a rewatch in the improved quality and see if I like it any better. I’m much more excited about the impending upgrade of Dragon Fist, I quite like that one. And, of course, one of my 3-D holy grails, Magnificent Bodyguards, although I’m worried about the quality of the 3-D restoration, because my confidence in Fortune Star’s stereoscopic alignment correction abilities is absolutely nil, and they are notorious for sometimes slapping arbitrary restrictions on licensees, so I’m not confident FS will let 88 make fixes if they screw it up. Fingers crossed! Another early Jackie film I really wish 88 would rescue is the uncut unadulterated Cub Tiger from Kwangtung, a seriously underrated film and Jackie’s Kung Fu starring debut. The final fight on the docks is an absolute whiz-banger!

      This new 4K is stunning so it does excite me for the upcoming Magnificent Bodyguards and (hopefully) Dragon Fist. Hopefully FS will give 88 a bit of freedom todo things right. Cub Tiger would be awesome restored. I have the German Blu-ray and it's great to watch, but that extra touch is always better :)

      I have the German Blu-ray too, but the problem with that is it’s only the later bastardized version known as Master with Cracked Fingers, with hunks of footage cut out and horrible newer footage cut in. I have a fanedit of the original version, using the original 1973 footage from the German Blu and adding the missing original bits from an old Japanese DVD release, and then color-matching everything as much as possible and resubtitling the entire thing. The film is much, MUCH better in its original form; you haven’t seen Cub Tiger from Kwangtung until you’ve seen it this way. The Master with Cracked Fingers edit is pretty ruinous. The original cut is a very worthy starring debut for Jackie, and shows his familiar comic/dramatic persona nearly fully formed from the start, at age 19. This film is ripe for rediscovery, as most people have only seen the inferior recut.

    Shame 88 Films didn't release the Blu-ray with a slipcase! Anyone know why?

      @jackward7332 Před 7 dny +1

      They did do a slipcase but as always only on the first run so if you picked it up later you will have missed it

      It looks like they put out the 4K with the slipcase but not the Blu-ray. They stated on their website that the 4K came with, but not in the description of the Blu :S

    I actually love this film, I think it's my favourite of the Lo Wei era and the quality of this print is way better.
    I question why they are upgrading and how many others they will do this to.

    • @TheBluCorner
      @TheBluCorner Před 7 dny +1

      They are upgrading because specifically this and "Battle Creak Brawl" had bad transfers on the original released in the first 4 movie batch... The new ones have been color corrected and fully upgraded. We're still missing a "Dragon Fist" re-release (proberly won't be 4k if they do it), and I have no doubt we'll get that too down the line. Other then that there's not many that has a 4k remastered reel they can use. Miracles is the only one coming to mind that hasn't been done or announced.

      @@TheBluCorner in the UK 88 Films put out Dragon Fist, the transfer isn't great to be honest.

      @@mitchsfridaynightsongclub2594 I know.. That's the one I'm talking about and pretty sure on will get a new release in the future which will conclude re-releases of the original 4.

    Way much better than the so called American martial arts Garbage and terrible knockoffs courtesy of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, jean claude van damme, Chuck Norris and Bruce Willis who rely on autoaim when they fire a weapon that cannot hit a target practice and deliver ridiculous punch lines together with parody catchphrases
