You know, you can be a historian without having a degree in History. You share and give information. You talk about the history of things. You're actually quite knowledgable. I would say you're a rather unique historian.

    Hi
I grew up in Edinburgh for 45 years before moving to Western Australia.
As far as I ever knew ..Arthur’s Seat was known as the “sleeping Lion” as the skyline view from old duddingston village exactly resembles a Lion.

I and some likeminded girlfriends climbed that hill at the age of 17 in the dark. As dawn broke we , after checking for sheep and rabbit poop, dipped our faces in the dew atop Arthur’s Seat. Legend was that you would be endowed with great beauty. It didn’t happen. But it was fun.

Was on my agenda in January but never made it. Hope to get there if I go back. Also interested in Stirling. Good, informative, video!

  • @richardsonkinnear8031

One of the old legends says that King Arthur sat atop of this crag and contemplated a battle plan.

My goodness, what a lovely day! I wish I were there with you.
I love the notion of an 8th of May festival in in Hollyrood and the crag. Imagine all the lovely lasses of Edinburgh and beyond gathered together for a nice walk and a splash of dew. It sounds much better than the chat up in pubs!
Cheers, Tony, to you and yours. When is your wee bairn expected?

I always thought Arthur Seat got its name because of the shape of a lion and that how the extinct volcano got its name.

You guys are having a boy?! CONGRATULATIONS! When is the baby due?
I wish we could've walked up Arthur's Seat when we were there in 2018, but time we were going to do that, legs and feet were done. 😢 "Hiking" was not going to be an option after walking 100 miles+/-, over the prior 2 weeks. Definitely next time though!
