- The swap is almost finished. Figured out why it would not rev past 2k. The afm and O2 sensors were not getting 12volt power. Found the power lead for the sensors on the big white body plug. Wired it up and it runs perfect.
When you don't rev, it's so quiet. You don't expect the sound.

Thanks man. Looks like we think alike. I have been test fitting a 1uz vvti in my 81 corrolla wagon. I also have a 1990 cressida but with a first gen 1uz. Gonna drop in a 3uz with 5 speed auto and e-shift after I button up the supra. My garage is full of 1uz's and 3uz's waiting for a chassis.
yotarip, I'm another toyota-head. 2 things: first, the 5spd auto won't work well in the X8 cuz of unfavorable final drive ratio. the 5spd auto gets a 3.2 kinda like a jza80 6spd.
second, could this 1uz vvti ecu/harness/throttle body trick work on a 2uzfe? I know the intakes are a straight swap. I think the heads are essentially the same. maybe cams are different.

That engine fits absolutely perfect in that car. No need to worry about clutch fan setups of the jz, no worrying about intercooler pipes, or battery relocation. Everything just works as it should.

OK. Wrong guy. The guy on Clublexus doing the same swap is running a nissan 6 speed. Anyway, I know I'm late with this advice but you could have used the is300 trans by simply swapping the bellhousing, input shaft and the torque converter from the 1uz trans to the 2jz/is300 trans. Much less work and the trans can handle the power. I'm doing the same thing in my cressida 3uz/ is300 trans swap.

1992 sc400 oem exhaust manifolds.
No cats.
2.5” exhuast tubing to an X pipe just after the transmission.
Transition into a y pipe just before the differential and the 2.5” pipe to a free flowing magnaflow muffler.
I always get compliments on the sound.

@@PolonezV8 Mate, it is confusing for most people so dont worry. The thing is, the 1uz vvti, 2uz and the 3uz all look the same at first glance, coz they share the same, or at the very least, similar looking intake manifold. But on close inspection, they are different. Put aside the 2uz, as it is a less common swap considering that it is an iron block. Let's discuss the the aluminum blocks 1uz vvti and 3uz, the easiest way to tell at first glance is to look at the engine oil feed. On the 1uz vvti, it sits right on the valve cover, while on the 3uz, it is raised by a few inches, as in u can see a few inches long pipe proturding right where the engine oil cap is. That's the easiest way to tell. Then there few more differences. If u wanna just know bout their differences, read up on the uz engine on Wikipedia, all the uz engines, and there's a video on @CartuneNZ channel that explains the differences, u could either watch the whole vid for detailed differences, or maybe the first few minutes would be enough IMO. Good luck :)

I’m using the mk3 radiator with sc400 upper and lower radiator hoses. Works fine. I was running the factory radiator for a couple years and just upgraded to the three row aluminum eBay special radiator. The oem worked fine, I just like not having to worry about the plastic tanks on the oem radiator leaking. You will need a pair of radiator hose bushings to fit the 1.5” hose on the 1.25” radiator nipples. Search radiator bushings on Summit Racing.
@@yotarip thank you! I'm gonna do that this week and then put on my old xat w58 conversion kit, I just need the old land cruiser 3/8 inch master cylinder to push the t56 throwout bearing, I don't think the stock mk2 5/8 inch master cylinder will be enough, but well get there when we get there!
I want to do this swap for my sc400 but I don't know what motor mounts to buy do I just buy 1uz mounts or custom. Also how did you connect the throttle cable? I herd that that the throttle body was all sensors?? Please get back with me ASAP!!!
Yisrael hendryx you will just swap the mounts from the original 1uz to the vvti motor. The engine blocks are identical. The exhaust manifolds will bolt up too. You will have to swap the oil pan form your original engine to the new motor if it isn't a rear sump. The 1uzvvti has a cable driven e-throttle so you will still use a throttle cable. You will need the long throttle cable from any 1uzvvti powered Lexus. They will bolt right into you car. The 3uz is has a completely electric throttle body and doesnt use a cable. I'm running 1uzvvti throttle body and computer/ harness on this 3uz motor. Works fine.

ryanthescot I'm running this 3uz on 1uz vvti ecu and harness. I did that to avoid installing the electric accelerator pedal because of the 3uz e-throttle. I just swapped the 1uz vvti throttle on the 3uz. Engine runs just fine.
Btw, the ecu in my setup had the immobilizer bypassed. I sent the ecu to a guy in Russia that modified it.

thanks. wheels are 18x9.5 +22 / 255-35-18 front and 18x10.5 / 285-35-18 rear. rolled the rear fenders flat. need to roll the front before I drive it because the tire will grab the fender in a turn and destroy it.
Manual? If so what trans would bolt up to the 3uz ? Without adapters and stuff like that ? Any info would be awesome looking at same swap just cheap and reliable and to smack down stock 4.6s in town lol 😂

The 250 hpLexus 1uz is usually the v8 used in this swap. My swap is the 300 hp 3uz. Custom mounts must be used.

how did you run you exhaust a Y pipe or something else ?
I'll post up a vid of the exhaust. It's a full 2.5" exhaust with an x pipe right behind the trans. It then comes together to a y-pipe right at the diff. Then a single pipe to the muffler. I have tried a different exhaust design on all my 1uz swaps. The exhaust design on the gold cressida in one of my vids is the best sounding to me. It's a 2.25" true dual with a x-pipe, 2 resonators and pipe pies coming together to one dual in/ single out muffler. Sounds like a huge sport bike.

What do you have for an exhaust set up?
Stock sc400 (non-vvti) exhaust manifolds, 2.5" pipes with an x-pipe just after the transmission. Then the dual pipes come together again at a y-pipe just before the differential. Then it's a single 2.5" pipe up to the magnaflow muffler. No cats or resonators.

I do all my own wiring. Just splice the wires needed to run the motor into the harness of the chassis.

No further plans for modifactions. I'm more of a collector of old toyotas and I like to do restomods. I have a 90 cressida, 81 corolla wagon and a 87 toyota mini that will be getting a 3uz/1UZ vvti swaps too. I also have a 93 MR2 that is getting a 3MZ swap. So many cars for me to spend time and money on.

Filip Anonim I’m using the exhaust manifolds from a sc400 . They are the only manifolds that will fit in the Supra. They fit perfectly.
