  • Hey folks! Several of you asked for some details you could expect to encounter when LS swapping a Mazda B2200 or B2000. I put this quick video together to give an Idea of the major hurdles you will have to deal with. Comment and let me know if this was helpful.
    ****New or stronger torsion bars are NOT necessary! I Just turned the jacking bolts 3-4 turns, and the truck returned to factory ride height. It rides super good.
    Swap that thing! You can't believe how much fun this thing is to drive!

    Hey I used s10 header ls swap straight forward on driver side about 1/2" clearance from steering shaft driver side clear about an 1" but it rubs on spark plug wire so I put heat wrap on them with out heat shield

    Just wanna say thank you sir. You're the man! Can't wait to get my hands on an ls for my 89 b2200. If I may add, what did it cost " ballpark " to get the swap. I plan to go msd with mine and go carbed since the original 4cyl was carbed

    • @KEIFabrication
      @KEIFabrication  Před 4 lety

      Hey Billi. I am working on an updated cost of the project. I will break out just the engine & trans swap cost, then the rear etc. I KNOW it took me 100 hours from the time I took the first bolt out to remove the 4 cyl until the truck was running and driving. I spent about $2000 swapping the motor and trans. Including the $500 I paid for the donor LS powered 1999 Silverado. $400 on exhaust, $250 for the Camaro intake, the rest was spent on headers, motor mounts, fuel system, and the Camaro front engine drive components. More detailed info coming soon!

    Actually there isn't a collapsible section within the steering column, recently did an electric steering conversion and the column is nothing more than a solid shaft with bearings at both ends.

      The Mazda rear is reportedly good to 300 HP. Mine was pretty worn out so I took it easy on it. I put a narrowed Ford Explorer 8.8 rear in with a 3.73 POSI. Check out the videos here:

    What radiator did you use that doesnt have a filler neck so you can keep the factory closed looped setup?

    • @KEIFabrication
      @KEIFabrication  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey Patrick! Excellent question! The radiator is a generic type aluminum radiator that is designed for the NASCAR late model and sportsman racers. I bought it at a swap meet. The radiator did have the provision for a regular style radiator cap, but it was cut off and a patch was welded in it's place. Without really knowing what I was buying, this one happened to work perfect for the factory LS style expansion tank. A small fitting was also welded into the top of the passenger side tank so I could hook the cylinder head steam vents to. I hope that answers your question!

      That should be a great package. You will NOT be disappointed. I left the clutch pedal in mine "just in case" I find a stick shift set up that I can afford. This swap is SO much fun to drive! FYI there are probably better headers out there that the ones I chose. I had minor fitment issues with mine but there is really a lot of room for other styles. I would investigate S-10 headers or center dump style (for non turbo situations).

    How did you make your driveshaft work. Using the stock mazda rear?

    • @KEIFabrication
      @KEIFabrication  Před 5 lety +2

      I cut the back end of the Mazda driveshaft tube and slipped it inside a mid 90's 1/2 ton Chevy truck driveshaft tube.
      I welded the two together with it bolted into the truck, checking run-out with a dial indicator as I welded it.
