i love these setup reviews! porcellio haasi seems like a really cool species! I would say that these isopod setup reviews are helpful to not only the people who are getting their setup reviews but also, it helps give tips to any keeper of isopods!
Did you know you can order the Supreme Isopod Chow HERE- supremegecko.square.site/s/shop?page=1&limit=60&sort_by=name&sort_order=asc (or contact me at Supreme Gecko on FB).
Thanks for this great tutorial video. I will start a colony of this isopod soon, so every advices would be great for me. Your video was a great help for me to establish my own setup.
@LordKyphoron I do research before I get any creature unless someone just gives it to me. An example: A student if mine was moving and gave me a box turtle for the classroom. I had an empty 20 gallon aquarium and put it in there until I did some research. I had her until I moved into an apartment. She was given a great home with other female and male box turtles. Supreme Gecko makes owning a Gecko interesting. I'm researching Leopard Geckos, but you get different opinions. Most say not to use Loose Soil or Sphagnum Moss; use a paper towel. I will check CZcams and see if you have any more videos.
It's John Travolta. Little work these days and he needed a couple bucks. I sped up the track a bit and found it to work just the way I wanted. Truth? I spent about an hour looking for voice replay apps, found one, then tried each voice. This one sounded the best. I'm such a geek!
Hello Supreme Gecko. Before, I told you that I found in my container (where live my pets cockroach: Madagascar and Archimandrita tasselata) some small isopods and I have to tell you how it goes when quarantine end or at least parks will be free to walk around. There were about 4-5 isopods in my container (however I never found them together) and I've collected them randomly with moss in February. This days parks open, so I had possibility to walk around and to search some creatures and substrate for my container. I found that small brown isopods from my container actually are adults, they have about 3-3.5 mm, may be 4 mm. Really small ones, they prefer very moist area like first layer of the forest litter. So I collected some of them, and will give them really moist area so they can live happy. I'm not biologist so it is only my suppose that the name of the species is Hyloniscus riparius (the size is definitely correct, because I found about 20 of them in a very small area, so I guess all of them were adult. I took about 10 to put into my container). Another species were much bigger, a really big one. So took about 2-3 of them (found them on a rotting stump). There are 1 or 2 adults and a one small baby (that actually could be just another species of isopod, however I don't think so). Isopod seems to be large, about 1.5 or even 2 cm. I wasn't able to watch them intent, however I think they have to be from the genus Porcellio. I will try to identify it later. Also I found a lot of millipedes. 3 species, one is about 4 mm, another one about 1.2 cm and last one is pretty big, may be 4 cm or even 5. + some creature that I think it is some species of millipedes (cause it has 2 pairs of legs for one segment of the body).
I think it is exciting that you have such a passion for your local animals. Thanks for the update. The more you research the more you learn about these amazing animals. Please keep us updated on how your cultures are doing and especially those very small isopods.
Wish I could get into these cool looking bugs but just not really a bug person. But love your geckos😉👍🦎Speaking of I got a vid for you. It's my backyard gecko. Hope you all are doing ok and had a nice 4th. Blessings
I love that shirt I get lots of information from these videos they are so informative spirulina is good stuff fish love it in their food you can buy it by the pound on amazon great video Wally
I get spirolina wafers for my iso's too! Thats a great idea to crush them to powder (or buy as powder, thanks for the tip Wally!). I have been breaking them with my fingers which is not fun
Oh brother I got my favorite isopods I picked up 6 porcellio bolivari 12 rubber ducky Armadillidium sp marbleized 10 Armadillidium vulgare t+ albino 10 Porcellio haasi high yellow 10 Panda king 10 Last one pak chong 10 that's it my friend Anthony I forgot what he picked up I know some of this is advanced that's why i.m doing it the right way I know I don't have the tubs ready who can go to a show and not pick up isopods lol I let you know what happens with them
Thanks for the video! A suggestion I have as you have previously mentioned in other reviews is to have a piece or wood or something the entire length of the enclosure and also are you feeding veggies/fruit? I'm sure bc its really hard to cram all that info into 1 minute. Maybe the video time could be increased to 2 minutes or so? Have a great day!
He does have a piece extending from dry to moist but I agree a longer piece used would be interest to see where they mainly reside. I thought he said he was but I will need to listen again. Exactly! 1 minute is quick. I think this was one of the better 'keep it short' videos though. Thanks Danielle
Just to let you know Wally . Iv finaly see lots of manki if that how you spell it . So thanks for all your help . I will be ordering dry foods from your online shop as thats all I can buy because I'm in scotland ..
I love watching your videos and getting educated..... I have a question? In your opinion what would be the best isopod and springtail combo for a bio active African fat tail setup?
That is a great question. My first thought goes right to dwarf white as they love to burrow and will basically stay out of the way. Another option might be giant canyons. With Giant Canyons, you may find your AFTs munching on one or two because they are a bit larger isopod. Hope this helps and let me know what you decide.
Hi Wally : ) Big fan of your channel here, you're a real showman : P I'm a fairly new isopod keeper somewhere past beginner, but before advanced. I have a very prolific colony of P. flavomarginatus and just started with some P. bolivari, I also have some bioactive leopard gecko enclosures with Trichorhinas or Armadilllidiums. I have the following question for you: I might come by some P. haasis and was thinking, about an experiment. Do you think I can keep the haasis in the same enclosure as the A. maculatums (and some leos)? It's a semi-arid setup, quiet spacious, it has plants, branches, barks, multiple suitable areas. The zebras like it, I see mancae quiet often, they usually hang out in or around the built in laybox which is surrounded by some live moss. I have a corner with branches and sphagnum moss, which is usually dry, but I can set it up to be more humid.
Hello Ferenc. Those are some nice, high end isopods! It's really a guessing game for co-habitating isopods. I always like to keep them apart myself. But, if you try, let me know how it goes please.
Just got some Haasi this morning and I just knew I could come to your channel and find the info I wanted!! :) thank you!
THAT is soooo cool to see! Tune in tonight!!!!
Love these types of video wally☺☺

Anyone else notice the ant on the outside of the bin? lol. Awesome Isopods. Mine are hanging in there but not breeding yet.
Good eye. He did the video out on his porch and one brave soul though he could take on a whole isopod colony.... then quickly decided to retreat.
I always wondered who made the vocals for the “isopod vlog”? Is that your Mrs. Supreme Gecko?

Nice! This is a nice set up!
I completely agree. Thanks.

Spirulina should be in EVERYTHING we give our animals.
@@SupremeGecko I agree I learned about it because of the discus fish
@@DEAexotics YES- at least 50% of what I learned with geckos (and isopods) came from fish keeping.
nice video.. I love these reviews they really help me a lot and I learn something new in each one..thank you Wally for doing these
Thank you Tiffany. I enjoy doing them and love seeing other;s setups too.
@@SupremeGecko so do I wally I hope people keep sending in videos

And, it's fairly inexpensive to try for you. But, it really works for me.
Thank you Wally for another great video. It is nice to see these isopods. I like seeing how others take care of their isopods.
Actually Barb, I do too. From these setup reviews, I learn too. (PS- I'm getting to yours :) There was such a backlog in the beginning. Sorry
@@SupremeGecko That is fine Wally. I do understand. You two are pretty busy. Thank you for all your help.
These isopods look amazing.
I completely agree. Thanks for watching.
Buddy I got bunch of isopods today at Pomona super reptile show I was hoping to see you there but no luck it was very big and very busy
