Their album is pretty good, but yikes, the live vocals in this set are so uninspiring. Maybe the KEXP people just don't know how to mic up to her strengths. Meek, bedroom vocal style doesn't always translate well live.
I love Jay Som's music. it's too bad they sound terrible live... I saw them earlier this year and it just wasn't a very good show. The only person that looked like they were having fun was their drummer :/
Dominic Cruz not sure what you heard but I saw them two months back in Chicago and the set was incredible and the band was having a blast, to boot. Their stage presence is charismatic as hell. You can find the show by searching for them with Shows from Schubas.
Bit odd for me this. I'm not one to stick by a live sound just cause I like the band, if its shit I'll say it is. But I saw them in London last week and they were genuinely tight as hell, loads of pretty flourishes that aren't on the last album, vox / bass especially on point throughout.
You see this young lady and you expect her to ask for the language of origin and spell a word, and then she starts singing and you want to make love to her. Very nice.
