It is lovely to hear a beautiful English accent! I've never had a problem with wobbly zips but it is always good to have a refresher! Thank you. (Edited to correct typos)
Thank you! 😊
As soon as I left my comment, the bell for subscription appears here, I did it right away! Thank you again, from Puerto Rico!
Awesome! Thank you!
This was so helpful. Just made my second zipper pouch and didn’t know why it came out bubbly on the top. This answered the question!
So glad it helped :)
Great tutorial! Never thought to pout the lining piece a little above the zipper tape. Makes it so much easier to have a straight zip. Thank you Diane!
I am about the make a tote bag as a gift, and I want to put a zip in the lining with the pocket, and I have watched numerous tutorials on how to do that. Since watching this tutorial on getting a zip to sit nice and straight, I feel much more confident to tackle the first time of putting in a zip now!! Thankyou SO very much for making it look so easy, and showing the pitfalls of using pins. I might use the double sided 1/4" tape as I have some, for this very first zip pocket. Thanks from Sue in South Australia!!
Thanks, great to hear. Why not join my bag sewing Facebook Group for lots more tips and to post your pics: facebook.com/groups/spencerogg
This tutorial has been a godsend. Thank you again!
Great to hear!
Love that tip about the lining - genius!!
Great video. Thanks for the tutorial. Lots of really good tips. Zippers are my Achilles heel!

Hope it helped xxx
Hi Diane 👋
Happy new year! This video popped up and wow 😮…that’s how the master does it 👍👍 . I made your bummity bag and my zipper wasn’t straight . Now I know the trick, my next ones should come out better . I will be making at least 5 more as birthday gifts.
Thanks for a great teaching video🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.
Stay safe ! I can’t believe I am still saying this phrase for a third year 😩😩😩 . Please let this be over by summer . I can’t do another winter of this social distancing and Covid-19 😷.
Happy new year!! xxx
Very helpful tips. Thanks
My pleasure!

I’ve just made several bags to sell and was lamenting my wobbly zippers and that I didn’t know how to correct them. Thank you so much for this!!
Glad it helped x
Thank you I learned a lot
Glad it was helpful!
Your nails always look lovely!
Thank you xx
you are an absolute delight to watch and listen to! Excellent tutorial on the zipper install. Just finished your class on Blueprint/Etsy. Have to track down some Harris Tweed and am making the clutch this week. Will be purchasing your cross body bag and making that as well. Love that style of bag, so organized. Look forward to seeing more of you!
Thank you Kathleen
Good tips. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video, thank you x
I wish their was a tut for the Flip Clutch Wallet. I love that wallet, I just have a few little problems with it & having a tut would be so nice. It’s literally the perfect wallet for people who don’t want to pack a bag with them.
Just post any questions on the board Jessica - the video tuts are a new thing for me, so they are only with my most recent patterns xx
@@SpencerOgg LOL oh I did the last time I made it. I’m making it again for my mom & so far it’s coming together very smoothly. Lot easier then last time (last time I didn’t have to many problems either, the pattern is very well written, it was just more lack of confidence in myself then anything). I did somehow mess up the 2 note pockets. Not sure how I did that but instead of having 2 note pockets, I have 4 small deep pockets (I stitched down the center of the CC slots when I was attaching it to the CC Backing). I didn’t realize it until I got all the way done & don’t want to rip it ALL out 😂
You are just beautiful thank you
Thank you
Thanks! Very helpful!
I like the fact that your Janome zipper foot has a hole in the middle of the foot. I have a Bernina, and my zipper foot doesn't have a hole - I have to move the needle to the right or left.
They are better with the hole in the middle, it grips the fabric better and makes it more stable. Do check tho, I think Bernina may do one as an extra now.
Spencer Ogg I’ve not found one yet!!
Great tutorial thank you x
I love your teaching. From india
Thank you Sarita x
I absolutely love these tips and tricks!🎊
Great tutorial. Zippers can be scary! Can you share your stitch length and width?
Match your stitch length to the fabric you are working with - so for example on quilt cotton I would use a stitch length of maybe 2.7, but if using vinyl I would use a longer stitch length eg 3 to 3.5
thank you very helpful and clear video !
You are welcome xx
Thank you Diane for the tutorial. Do you have any hints on how to place a nice straight and even side zipper in a bag. Could you tell me please what pattern you used for the purse/wallet in the opening scene of this video.
It should work in exactly the same way Bev. The purse pattern at the beginning is my Worsley Wallet pattern here: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/640212822/wallet-sewing-pattern-the-worsley-wallet
Thank you for this tutorial! This is something I’ve struggled with! Where did you get your stiletto? I’ve been looking for one and yours seems really nice!
It's a Prym stiletto Tracy, I bought it from Amazon
It is the first time I see one of your tutorials! I love it, thank you! How can I subscribe to your channel?

Can I please ask what machine you are using in this video. Thanks you.
I reviewed it here :) www.spencerogg.com/sewing-machine-review-janome-atelier/
@@SpencerOgg ahhh thank you, that looks to be a dream of a machine!
"Wobblyland..." how does she know where I live? 😂🤣😅
😂🤣
Thank you very much for your great lesson. I don't understand why you put the lining a little above.
Just so you can see it all the time and keep an eye on it not moving
Hello & HELP... PLEASE 🤗 I've been learning bag making. I was seeing straight to the end of the zip n fabric as as you've done here. And always have an issue with the top edge of the bag/ zip having a bit of pucker( ?) I guess you'd call it. The zip doesn't come out of fabric completely. So Doing Bit of research I see some stopping approx 1 inch freon ends of fabric. This seems to leave a bit of questioning. Do you have a video that covers this. I want to learn correctly and not waste fabric etc.(no budget for this!) Plus it's very VERY frustrating, not knowing the right way.
It all depends on the type of bag or pouch you are making as to where and how to finish your zip. Have you tried adding zip tabs? The best thing to do is follow a couple of patterns to find the best way. You are welcome to join my sewing group to discuss: facebook.com/groups/170115107145604/

@@SpencerOgg Thank you! Great video BTW.
What size zipper do you recommend 3 or 5 wide
This works the same for any size of zipper. I tend to use a number 3 zip for pockets inside, but a number 5 for the outer of a bag. If it's smaller item such as a wallet I'd probably stick with a number 3 for the outer though to keep the bulk down
