That tip at the end on how much it reduces the height by was so key! Thank you very much ❤
Glad it was helpful. Thank you x
OMG Where have you been? I just learned to sew and couldn't find a clear explanation of how to do this.. THANK YOU!!
You are so welcome! Why not join my Facebook group too for lots of sewing fun: facebook.com/groups/spencerogg
FINALLY an easy and to the point explanation on how to sew boxed corners. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
So helpful. Many thanks
I just learned more in your sewing tutorial, about geometry, than I ever did in class. 🙄 😁 Thank you, for this!
Wonderful! Thank you
This is the best tutorial I've seen on boxed corners. I only wish I had seen this a couple of years ago when I started making totes, purses, etc. Thank you for showing & explaining the best way to do this!
I love it when someone who really knows what they're doing explains the process so simply. I'm inspired to try. Thanks very much!
Thanks so much xx
I've seen lots of tutorials on making boxed corners. Yours is the first I've seen to explain how when you make the bottom larger, it shortens the height of your bag. ( by half that measurement.) I had to learn that on my own. TYSM for sharing this informative video with us.
So glad you found it useful - thank you ❤️
You just revolutionized how I make my bags, thank you for this extremely informative video!
You are so welcome!
This is the clearest demonstration I've seen on making boxed corners. Thank you!
Thank you x
Thank you so much! I get it now! You're a good teacher. I'm off to sew me a gusseted bag. 😊
Wonderful!
This is the best intro and full explanation of boxed corners I have found. I was struggling and frustrated until I found this video! THANKS
Awesome, thank you!
Fabulous explanation without having to deal with the "with seam/without seam" question!!
Thank you for this video! Using it and a formula I found on the Internet for making a boxed cover I made a nice dust cover for a portable oil-filled heater that we use occasionally.
Glad it was helpful!
Holy moly, you have no idea how I've struggled with zippers and boxed corners. You are wonderful. Many, many thanks for this tutorial and the "sew a perfectly straight zipper" tutorial as well.
Glad to help xx
Beautiful video, beautiful teacher. Thank you
Thank you! 😃
I have never seen this explained so thoroughly! Thank you for the video.
Thank you for ironing the seams, that makes it perfect. Too many sewers don't iron and it makes all the difference x
I know, I always tell my students about underpressing. You can never press enough as far as I'm concerned xx
I can't figure out how to iron the bottom seam open
When you showed the rule about the height being half the width of the corner, I literally said NO WAY to no one in particular. This changes everything! Thanks so much.
Glad I could help lol xx
Right! 😁 I think this is the 6th video I've watched on this technique (over probably 15 years as I'm not a regular sewer... or very skilled, though totes are my #1 necessity!) and her explanation really seems like it will stick. (Yet I've saved the video regardless!)
Lovely tutorial - clear, logical, easy to remember because you make it so!! Thank you, Diane! You're the best 🤗
Thank you! What a great tutorial. You have made it so simple, logical and easy to remember.
Thank you Diane! This will help me so much...no more guessing and hoping...
Thank you for providing such easy-to-understand directions for creating evenly aligned boxed corners!
You are so welcome!
By applying my mediocre skills and using an ancient sewing machine, I made a bag out of some crappy leather. My measurements were off, my seams were horrible, yet to my surprise, by following your instruction, I actually ended up with some decent corners! Thanks for sharing this and for taking the time to put it on video - especially such a quality, well done video.

Thank you so much!
Love her explanations and way of communication.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! I am new to sewing and I don't like the straight bags without a boxed bottom so I have been wrestling with this concept for weeks. I am SO glad you did this tutorial. You just made my sewing career exponentially better! You are amazing!

New to sewing and this is the best explanation by far! I now understand why my boxed corners were not looking even. Thank you. This works so much better than the method I was using.
Wonderful!
I have seen sooooo many videos and didn't get it. In under 10 minutes with this video CLARITY - CONSTRUCTION EXAMPLES - CONFIDENCE. I went right down to my machine and was able to turn a fun pillow cover into a box corner bag and made a birthday gift. Boom. DONE. I have now subscribed and won't waste my time searching other videos.

Hands down the best tutorial on boxed corners! Thank you, Diane @ Spencer Ogg!
Aww thanks, so glad it was helpful
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge 🙏 helpful 👍 tips.
My pleasure!
Thank you for this clear, easy and inspirational video. I wish I’d watched this a while ago as I ‘interpreted’ the box bottom of an existing bag to copy it, which then became a total mess! Bless you.
Brilliant, that explains so much that I didn't realise. I know it reduces the width but never took the height into consideration. Thank you, Diane.
OHMYYGAWWD! MY MIND OF CREATIVITY HAS BEEN EMPLODED RIGHT NOW!! I AM GETTING WONDERFUL INFO ON PERFECT BOXING! THIS IS SO FREAKIN AMAZING! OHMYGAWWD! TO THE SEWING MACHINE OF DOOM! LOL! *rushes frantically to the Sacred Singer 4411HD to try out new method*

May I ask where have you been all my life? I received one of your tutorials on my Pinterest board and I loved the bag, so I purchased the pattern and cannot wait to make it. Then I saw you have a CZcams page...this just made my day...boxed corners....perfect...thank you so much
Thanks Lynette, so glad you liked them xx
I just purchased oilskin to make the Forever tote and can't wait for it to arrive so I can get started. I was thrilled to see this pattern for sale. Diane is a great teacher and has impeccable taste. I would be all over any garment patterns she designed. Good luck with your bag!
That’s a great tutorial Diane, I do like boxed corners, (which by the way sounds so much more elegant than “sugar bag bottoms” which is how I used to refer to them) Can’t wait to see what’s coming next.
I'm going to attempt my first boxed corners on the lining of a crochet bag I made. This tutorial was really helpful and clear so I think I got this 😊
