I saw this episode on my DVR back in March, but why did they have the two teams fight each other when they should have been joining forces?
Because the whole point of the Green Hornet and Kato were to be heroes that infiltrated the criminal world by posing as the Most wanted in their city

The question was: Who would win a fight between Adam Ward (Robin) and Kato (Bruce Lee)? Let me answer this way: we were poor kids living in New York in the 60's. Every kid that we knew rushed home to watch that fight at the time. Our neighborhood in the ghetto was full of immigrants from everywhere. We were all cheering for Kato to beat Robin and that was pretty clear. Bruce was a hero to all of us. My cousin returned from Vietnam, a green beret. He taught all of the poor kids' martial arts at the local community center in Far Rockaway. Bruce inspired us all in the 60's.
If white kid's said this, you'd call them racist. What hypocritical double standards. Even back then. Now it's much worse. Bruce Lee was half white. His mom was a white woman. He used to be picked on by Chinese kids when he grew up in China for being racially mixed. That's why he got into the marital art's, he was angry at being discrimated for being half white. Bruce Lee married a white woman. These are fact's that are over looked or not known.
The actor's name is, Burt Ward, not Adam Ward. That played Robin. Adam West played Batman.
