    Worth mentioning these things is by no means ammo picky. I've thrown at mine almost any kind of training and range ammo, and several carry brands/types and they handle everything flawlessly. This is a great gun and worth every penny.

    I hunted down the HK p30 sk V3 model because I love the DA/SA. It did come with the tritium sights and a 3rd mag. I've owned mine for 4 years now and it's my primary carry. I'm really super impressed with the comfort and accuracy of this pistol and the style. I figured I'd have malfunctions with hollow points like I did with my Sig P229 but I've had nothing. I also purchased the HK pinkie extensions and this was an absolute game changer because it now feels like it melts into my hand. This pistol is my ride or die and I have no intention of ever getting rid of it.

      I have the same pistol in this variant. I also use the sticky holster and the pinky extensions. By way of comparison I also have the hk 45 lem.
      Personally I prefer the p30sk. For one thing, you can carry it cocked and locked. Yes you can do that with the lem also but no safety except a longer trigger pull and no visible view that the hammer is cocked unlike an actual hammer. My other comment is that the p30sk to me is not a lot smaller than the p30 and about equal in conceal ability.

I have about 2,000 rds through it from many manufacturers and have NEVER had a failure. I have found that the Federal 115gr ball and 115 Hydra Shock print nearly exactly the same. Well done video. A long time ago I passed up on a P30SK for a M&P9c, both excellent carry firearms.. At the time, the M&P’s ergos shined and it was a tad bit easier to conceal for me. As in a lot of cases like this, I wanted both. I don’t regret the 9c, but I always wondered about the road less travelled. I’ve carried it a fair amount.
    But I’ve always had the P30 in my head, fast forward until this year. My buddy had one in his store and I grabbed it. It is a V3. I do t have the LEM trigger but it is very smooth just really long. I shoot it well. It is a bit thick in the butt, but not outrageously so. I’ve heard you can get the trigger tuned. I might look into that. I wound up dropping an Apex trigger into the M&P and it makes a huge difference. I’ve heard ppl complain about the decocker and although it is in a weird place, it is easy to engage once you get used to it. It isn’t really a deal breaker for me. When you use it you usually aren’t under pressure: would prefer they went Sig’s way and just threw the night sights onto it, even though the stock glow sights are serviceable. I think I’ll throw a tru glow front sight onto it.

    Totally agree. Love this pistol. I have the much lighter p365 and Hellcat as well. Really like both. But I find myself reaching for this pistol just as often. I love, love love my P30SK V1 LEM with tritium sights. The LEM trigger is like pulling a striker fire, but with a hammer. I added pinky grips to all three 10rd mags for a better grip, and also purchased a 13rd mag. Looking for a 15rd. I use a Vedder LightTuck holster, which allows me to deep-carry AIWB under a tucked-in dress shirt or when casually dressed. Administering the trigger to remove a slide is a common reason for a negligent discharge. My friend has a 9mm slug sitting next to her spine because of her EX-boyfriend's error with his Glock. There is no trigger pull required to strip the slide from a P30SK. Thumb on the hammer when holstering is also a great mitigation to avoiding a negligent discharge from a snagged trigger. There is also a variant with a safety for those who prefer a safety, but it will be a DA/SA not a LEM.

  • @chaff5
    @chaff5 Před 2 lety +8

    I have a P30L w/ the LEM and my opinion is the LEM is the perfect trigger. It provides the consistency of a striker or single action, the safety and restrike capabilities of a double action, and allows you to pin the hammer down while holstering.

    • @dashcammer4322
      @dashcammer4322 Před 6 měsíci

      I prefer the V3 trigger, due to that heavy first round trigger pull that the LEM trigger lacks - but you're right, the LEM trigger P30 series also gives double-strike capability that the VP9 series lacks.

      did you get the p30sk with the LEM or DA/SA? I recently sold my 365xl as well-- didn't love it. Between the high bore axis and flat trigger, I never really got comfortable with that gun. I decided to enter the DA/SA world instead and get proficient with these guns and now own 3 CZ's. However, both the p-01 and p-07 are a bit bulky for CC, and I'm looking for a smaller option. Trying to decide between the p30sk LEM vs the p2000sk LEM (or DA/SA).

    • @scooter5940
      @scooter5940 Před rokem

      @@SigAXG320 many people love the LEM because of the consistent and light (relative to DA, anyway) pull. I have the P30 sk in DA/SA, from LTT, so the trigger is great, but many find the stock trigger pull a sticking point with this version of the p30. Since you are committed to DA/SA with the CZ’s, you may want to at least try the DA/SA version. That said, not sure how much smaller and lighter it will be than the p-01. I also have the 365 xl and it is, of course, thinner, and lighter (and a bit taller) than the p30sk, and I seem to shoot it OK.

    • @SigAXG320
      @SigAXG320 Před rokem

      @@scooter5940 Thanks. I've thought about the LEM version and I know LTT does a great job with these guns' triggers, albeit at a sig cost. The p30sk and p2000sk both have shorter barrels c/w to the p01 and p07 CZ's so that's part of my reason: sub compact vs compact models. Also, I own a Sig229 DAK in 40 cal. Picked it up used at a great price and I love the trigger, which is the equivalent of the LEM by HK. But it does take a lot of practice to get used to for sure-- I'm not proficient yet. My CZ's in 9mm in SA mode are much easier to shoot.

    I had to sell most of my collection when i took ill during the pandemic (and our wonderful healthcare system....) a collection I worked really really hard to get. Got the SK v3 for $500, sold a Glock 26 for that 100% worth it! Sold one of my Berettas to get a SIG P226 .40 DAK which convinced me I needed a 9mm da/sa SRT one, and the SK, of course, convinced me of getting the Longslide of the p30. I got a P2000 v1 LEM 9mm which is fantastic, let me dad use that for carry (right now a new beloved carry is a SIG P250 Compact and it is fucking fantastic with this wilson combat frame and a flat metal trigger also designed for the P360 or 365....the one the military adopted). Anyway.... Out of quite a few carry pieces (The Kimber K6 revolver and Chiappa White Rhino being two other favorites. P2000, Glock 19, even my SIG Scorpion full size 1911 were fun to carry, Colt M1991 Compact, etc...) but the HK P30sk, P2000 and SIG P250 (for semi autos) and White Rhino and K6 Snub .357 revolver, Ruger LCR and Smith 442 performance center for reovolvers. I don't mind the hammer on the white rhino, and the K6 i avery smooth DAO. if only every revolver was as smooth as the SIG DAK on the 250 and 226 DAK (250 is better actually).
    The P30SK in a V1 LEM would be my recommend for newbies, or a p2000 v1 LEM for slightly longer. I also found a custom 15 rounder sleeve that added a third finger groove so it felt like, oh, i forgot my favorite carry, and the one it feels like with the 15 round sleeve: SIG P220 Carry model, reg-size grip, compact slide. Actually a smidge slimmer on the slide than the p30 bue the .45 makes it about the same otherwise.
    I'd also say the sIG P225 a1 (or if you get lucky and find a W. German 225 specifically a P6) would be a MUST HAVE.,

    The Walther P99c is a great subcompact pistol for carry also. It has the Walther AS trigger system the same as the 99AS. The magazine from the 99AS will fit the subcompact model. Also, there is a grip sleeve adapter that Walther makes that slides onto the bigger mag that gives you a full size grip when the mag is inserted into the 99c.

    Love your videos. For the AIWB CC crowd (who prefer a “thumb on hammer when re-holstering” option and who favor the grip angle and quality of the Sig and HK options,) I’d love to see you do a comparison between the P30SK LEM versus the Sig P250 DAO subcompact… Or the P30 LEM versus the P250 DAO compact. The cost difference for an AIWB self-defense carry gun is significant between these subcompact options, and it seems like it’s a worthwhile consideration to look at both. While you lose some things on the Sig (sculpted ergonomics, paddle release, shorter reset and lighter follow up shots) with the 250 you gain a MUCH more affordable gun, modularity options, 2 more rounds in the subcompact setup, and infinitely more accessories available in light of the P320 line. Thanks for considering.

    One thing I notice about my P30 sk, is how much cleaner it is, after a trip to the range. Not a lot of residue gets inside the firearm. The same goes for my P30 & P30L. For me, I like the decocker at the back.

    I’ve carried the P30SK for over six years, since my job has me either on the move or sitting in a car/at a desk I’ve been very happy with carrying it in Sticky brand holster. My one real complaint about the firearm is the seemingly small choice in light options.
    The best options, that I’ve found/tried at least, are the Streamlight TLR-7/8 and the Olight PL-Mini 2. I’ve stuck with the PL Mini 2 but had to cut and smooth the lip of the holster on the side with the lights quick release catch. It kept getting caught on the holster bringing up every time I would practice drawing. After my trimming the gun comes out nice and smooth.
    It’s always good to practice drawing from your holster, you don’t want to find out about any issues when you _really_ need your system to work.

    When I saw the title of this video I figured it must be 4 or 5 years old. Because 4 or 5 years ago you could make a good argument about why a P30SK is a really good carry gun compared to a Glock 26 or other subcompacts. But now? The Glock 26 and 19, and this little P30SK are mostly obsolete. The micro sub compact range of pistols like the P365, Hellcat, the taurus something or other, and now the Ruger Max 9, and M&P Shield plus give you all the capacity in much less weight in a much thinner package. Back when then P30SK was new if you wanted a smaller thinner package you had to go single stack like a PPS. Thats not the case anymore. If you like the gun and want to carry it, great. It would work well as a companion gun to a P30 or P30L. What you should be arguing is, is the P30SK still even relevant?

    • @TheConcealedCarryChannel
