  • In this video I will show you how to photograph and make our garden birds look just that bit more special using some pops & aids.
    All the items used for this were things I'm sure all of us have lying around in our sheds/garages etc, so all at very little expense.
    The results from such an easy build and setup in my opinion look fantastic and all of you can do the same if you follow these small steps.

    Interesting idea to use silicone as a wall for your reflection pool. I used a black plant tray, 1200mm x 550mm for my set up and ended up having to use a LOT more water than you did. The drawback with my set up is that as the tray is filled, the weight of the water will deform the tray unless it is very well supported and throw off any careful levelling done previously. Will definitely try this out, thank you for posting. Any tips for keeping the pigeons away? 🙂 (They are quite welcome but DO tend to take charge and dominate in my garden).

    • @tomchalephotography6477
      @tomchalephotography6477  Před rokem +1

      Hi Alan, tank you for reaching out. Yes, another reason for my choice of setup is that it is only a temporary setup, purposely for that days shoot, and once done, 10mins and it’s dismantled and put away 🙌🏻😀. Fortunately, I’ve had no issue with pigeons on the occasions that I’ve set this up 🙌🏻🙌🏻. Also, if you noticed, I could really get away without using any water, due to using glass and also it being blacked out from the underside, so already look like water with great reflections due the glass 👌.
      Kind regards
      Tom

    • @tomchalephotography6477
      @tomchalephotography6477  Před rokem +1

      Hi Joe, thank you for reaching out 🙏🏻. Yes, I remove all feeders from all feed stations dotted around our gardens. I do this purposely to force attraction to the spot I want the birds to be in. I only do this if there is a specific shot I’m after, but most garden birds are friendly and not bothered about me getting to close to photograph them in normal circumstances, as in spontaneous shots. Hope this helps. 🙂

    Tom enjoyed this, the water feature is a great and effective piece of kit, a great idea which makes images much more interesting. Thanks for sharing this idea Mate 👍🏽👍🏽 Do you use continuous shooting and then pick your final image from the bunch of images?

    • @tomchalephotography6477
      @tomchalephotography6477  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Lee, thank you kindly for your kind words. Yes, this kind of feature certainly enhances certain images 🙌🏻.
      With regards to continuous shooting mode: yes, I always shoot in continuous high mode when photographing wildlife, more so on smaller subjects (you can actually hear my shutter throughout this video). On larger subjects, I still use the same mode/technique however I only fire off short burst of 3-5 images. I then have the gruelling task of going through all images on the computer and pick a select few of keeper’s. Maybe not the best way of doing things, but works for me 😊. Hope this helps?

    Hi, how long have you been using the tripod? Are you satisfied with using the tripod? Are there any features of the tripod that you don't like?

    • @tomchalephotography6477
      @tomchalephotography6477  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Reyhan, thank you for your question regarding the Innorel rt90c tripod.
      I have had this tripod for about 14 months now. I originally purchased this tripod for use for my Astrophotography as I wanted a very sturdy and tall tripod, also strong enough to hold my cameras with big lenses and star tracking equipment on without fear of movement and vibration running through the tripod.
      I am more than satisfied with this purchase for all aspects with my photography, to the point that my Carbon Manfrotto 190go tripod Is now only used as my vlogging camera tripod that only carries my DJI Osmo Gimbal and IPhone 12pro.
      As for features, this tripod is very easy to use and the added feature of being able to swap out the flat fixed base for the levelling base within 3secs is a dream 👌. I’m also one for preferring the twist locking system on the legs/sections.
      Pair this tripod with a good fluid video head like mine, I can’t have the tripod at it’s full extension as it’s too tall (and I’m 6 feet tall). Also to test strength, I fully extended the tripod, and I hung from the tripod using my hands and held my weight off the ground for as long as I wanted, and there was 0% flex anywhere, and that was 15st (95 kilo) hanging from the tripod. So strength and stability are no concerns whatsoever 👍.
      As for cons, my honest opinion, I’m still yet to find one.
      Best £300.00 spent on a tripod, and I can’t see me ever needing to buy another!
      Hope this answers your question with enough detail.
      Tom

      @tomchalephotography6477  Před 2 lety +1

      @@ReyhanHamdi
      Oily? No, never! In fact, my tripod is and always has been dry from day 1 yet still quiet and smooth. I won’t put any lubricants on it neither as I don’t want any product that may release any scent. If and when it starts to feel grindy/gritty I’ll just take it apart and clean/dry it thoroughly, put it back together and away I go. But after 14 months, I’ve still not had to do this, and I’ve had this tripod in deep s€$t over this period of time! A quick rinse in a stream or hose down at home and job done 👌.
