- In this video I take you through the best way to start out as a wildlife photographer by setting up a bird feeding station in your back garden and some of the tips and tricks I have used to capture great images. I also look at how these skills can be transferred to other forms of wildlife photography.

Great video & tips!
Glad it was helpful Darrel, thanks for watching!🙏🙏👍
Great video Scott, great tips, who knew birds can't count.
Thanks Andrew, it's always worked for me in the past as long as you can get someone to walk to a hide with you and then walk back! Thanks for watching 👍
Hahaha just watching your blog, and the bit about birds can’t count lol , made me laugh 😂 brilliant love it lol 👍🏻👍🏻
😁 Cheers Ste, strangely it does seem to work😂😂
Extremely helpful, looking forward to trying out some ideas.
Thanks for watching Sue. More wildlife video's to come👍
Very useful advice and love your concern for the animals. Good luck
Thank you very much Cheryl. There should be more wildlife to come or as much as possible during the current situation! All the best!👍
Wow what an awesome find that piece of tree or bark with the green moss!! I’m new to wildlife photography, thanks for the awesome tips!!
Thanks for watching, more wildlife videos to come in the new year. Also a new series for beginners in wildlife photography 👍
I’m subscribing Scott! ❤️📸
Hey Thanks, its the first video of yours that I have seen. I like the way your mind works. I have previously used some of the same ideas, this was a good reminder. I'll stayed tuned for more.
Thanks Allan, there will be loads more species specific videos in the coming months. I hope you enjoy them!👍
Great insight in to how you capture your images Scott 👍
Thanks Gerard, more wildlife to come... so more frustration is definitely on the cards!!😂
Thanks Scott, very useful. My wife was born in Carlton then moved to Little Morton, near Babworth.
Glad you enjoyed it Mark! Strangely our link to Babworth is we got our rescue dog from there! 👍
Hi I live 8n south wales where I'm very close to the mountains so I often take a walk near them to watch the buzzards and different birds , plus I'm taking photos of the birds from my living room window where I live in a flat ,the best part is I'm very close to the trees near the mountains I get six jays great spotted woodpeckers dunnock tree creepers Robins and a whole range of the tits blue great and coal tits and long tail tits ,I'm using a nikon d750 and a sigma 150/600 lens ,with a remote control system.
All I do is switch the camera on with the remote control and then sit on my sofa and watch the birds coming to a fircone filled with fat and seeds which I hang on a branch so I can watch them come to the fircone which is level with my window .. I enjoyed your videos thank you from paul..
Thanks Paul, sorry I took so long to reply! I saw your comment after you posted then it seemed to disappear before I could reply. You can do amazing things with your garden birds Paul and it looks like you've worked out a great setup. A nice camera /lens combo as well! Must admit your ahead of me on the remote control system👍 Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video Scott was interesting to watch your set up technique. Some really beautiful shots throughout this video well done 👍
Thanks Adrian, there will be more wildlife to come!!👍
Great video and love the "birds can't count" bit 😂
Thanks for watching! I've no definitive proof on that one but it does seem to work!😉😂
That was really useful, thanks! Just starting with bird photography after being kept in with the Covid-19 lockdown.
Thanks Steve, under the current situation it's the perfect time to practice bird photography if you have any sort of garden. More wildlife to come when regulations allow!👍

Thanks Andrew, more wildlife to come over the following months👍
@@scotttilleyphotography look forward to it im only in lincoln set some feeders up just as you did for the woodpeckers worked a treat
Good basic grounding thanks
Hi, I'm glad you found iit useful. There will be plenty more coming up on wildlife in the coming year! 😁 👍
Great vlog buddy! have a new sub from a new CZcamsr 😉🤙
Thanks, I will be looking out for more of your work!👍
Great video, I have been using this technique for a couple of years now and had some great success but the squirrels are the main problem. They always seem to find a way of destroying the feeders. :)
Thanks Paul, I would like to say I have some words of wisdom regarding squirrels but I to be honest once they find the feeders they can be a nightmare!! Thanks for watching!👍
Hi Scott your not too far from me and Learned a lot by watching your CZcams. My wife has just bought me a canon 800d that’s all the budget would stretch too. Is the wood you go to far from Carlton on Trent
Hello Graham, thanks for your kind words. The wood I tend to use and the one where this was filmed is Treswell Wood near Retford. It's reasonably quiet up there as most people would have to drive to get to it. I love it there in the summer months when the suns up at four and you can have it all to yourself until the first dog walker at seven! Good luck with the new camera. Hopefully you've seen from my videos that it's not really about the kit. I see plenty of people with lenses costing close to ten grand yet the images with my setup are equal to if not better. Starting with modest kit makes you a better photographer because you have to up your game in other areas like field craft and knowledge of the animal. Then when you do upgrade it just makes your life slightly easier👍
Thanks for the video Scott! I've recently acquired a Sony Rii - am interested to know which lens you had on the camera?
Hi Lucia, I currently use the Sigma 100-400 with the Sigma MC-11 adaptor to allow it to be used with the Sony E mount. I also use the lens without the adaptor with a Canon 70d. 👍
@@scotttilleyphotography thankyou. Your images are beautiful!
Have you got any hints to find a woodpecker nest? We've seen the birds and loads of nest holes but they drum all over the wood and it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack
Hi Sarah, its only continued observation I'm afraid. Once they have chicks you can often hone in on the sounds they make as they can be very noisy when they know food is on the way. Keep an eye out for holes above 2m from the ground and watch for increased activity in the same area when the young are being fed.👍
@@scotttilleyphotography perfect, thankyou 😊 your vids are great
Hi Scott, are you in Nottinghamshire?? Just with you accent it sounds like you are.
Hi Ste, yes I was born in Sutton in Ashfield but now live at Carlton on Trent just north of Newark.😀👍
