I do feel sorry for that poor women going through 42 operations to correct a defect from a car accident. One thing I have noticed from watching Botched, is that Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif will always call in other doctors who are experts in complicated procedures so their patients will have the best outcome. It is sad that that patient didn't get a dedicated doctor like Dr. Nassif from the beginning and maybe she wouldn't of had to undergone so many surgeries. I do find Plastic Surgery so satisfying because there are so many procedures that can be done to make a person look normal.

The term plastic surgery actually predates the invention of plastics by quite a bit. The term plasticity refers to an objects' ability to mold or change shape. So "plastic" in the surgery sense means to basically reconstruct. Cosmetic surgery is for vanity purposes, not medical.

2009, my friend and I were hit by a motorcycle. The guy lost control and landed on top of us, as our motorcycle was sitting in traffic. I know, it’s weird because usually motorcycles are hit by cars and we got taken out by another motorcycle! We both had major injuries with weeks in the hospital and months of rehab. The guy who hit us was not injured! Again, weird.
My left orbital was shattered, as was my nose and teeth, with a traumatic brain injury. That eye will never be the same. It looks different, but nothing like this poor girl. I have pins and metal mesh in my cheek to hold up the left side of my face. Have issues with dryness, as she does and couldn’t close my eye for awhile. Had to wear a patch. I have light sensitivity. I had a great maxillofacial surgeon though , who happened to be on call.
My left hip was shattered, my femur was broken, I had a broken arm too. My friend had lacerations, but his leg had to be amputated. We both thought the other was worse off, but I can walk, with a limp, but he will have a prosthesis forever. Im tearing up just thinking about the trauma. I live with it every day.
There are always others who have it worse. I’m thankful to be alive and no longer in a wheelchair or using a walker. I do have problems with all the metal that is holding me together. I think it is causing autoimmune issues and I’ll be going to the Mayo Clinic later this month to see what, if anything, can be done. Hoping medical science has advanced enough to offer a solution.
Edit: I forgot to say that the guy who hit us was not tested for alcohol, but WE were. I find it hard to believe that he wasn’t drinking, as this was during a bike rally with alcohol served everywhere. He was speeding and lost control, according to ALL witnesses. We had not been drinking. I don’t drink and my friend doesn’t drink when driving. Police make the decision on who to test after an accident, the attorney said. We were automatically tested for substances, since we were hospitalized. He refused any medical attention…wonder why.

And even if they weren't preserved or frozen at all - the tissue breakdown that's already occurred by 12 hrs is not going to make it a good analogue for a drunk human.
Not to mention that even though someone is drunk and thus doesn't tense in anticipation, that doesn't mean they have no other protective reflexes that occur. So the same injuries seeming to occur in the cadaver and other human analog is to be expected - because other analogs likewise have no protective reflexes, so they only tell us so much.
Not to mention when people donate their body to science they don't do it for a curiosity project to be posted on youtube. So it's also unethical to boot.
We know drunk people appear more likely to survive accidents, we believe it's because they don't tense in anticipation but can't be sure - but crashing a car with a cadaver in it doesn't tell us any more information.

Three years ago on prom night; my granddaughters best friend allowed someone else to drive her home from a party; that was not only drunk and UNDER AGE( which my granddaughters friend was unaware of) but also high on molly! They took a curve too sharp rolled the car and my granddaughters friend was killed instantly while the driver walked away. Our small town was devastated and my granddaughter totally in shock. The driver was facing multiple charges; but because they were under age nothing ever really happened to them. Yet on line , they continued to post pics of partying!!!!!!! My granddaughter painted a mural at the high school that will remain forever; to honor this girl AND another friend killed the year before by another drunk driver! My granddaughter is now in college; headed to law school next year; needless to say she DOES NOT party. We will live forever with this loss. Hi doc! How are you? Hope everything is fine.
I want to ask for your opinion.
I did TCA cross 90% for my ice pick scars with my board certified dermatologist here in the Philippines. Note that I had 9 other TCA cross done before that. So my healing process with her work was, on the left cheek, the scabs went off easily like 3-5 days as normal. However, on the right cheek, it took 2-3 weeks at least before it fell off and the scars became widened and deeper plus post inflammatory erythema. So imagine the shock and anxiety it gave me since I’ve been applying for a flight attendant position so I have to have flawless skin, right?
My derma said to just wait, it will heal. 2 months after, she gave me a chemical peel for free for the PIE. Now, it’s been 3 months, it’s better than before but then again, there’s still PIE and the atrophic scars are there. I’ve been asking her to fix the craters caused by her TCA cross because I never had those atrophic scars before our TCA cross so naturally, I was hoping for a moral obligation from her to fix my botched skin.
She will do a procedure if I will pay her. If I won’t pay, her preposition is to just wait until it heals, the PIE and the atrophic scars.
Will it really heal just by waiting? How long will it take? A year or two? Do I have time to wait? No. I am unemployed and looking to go back to the airline industry and this happened to my skin? That’s so outrageous and unacceptable.
It seems she doesn’t care about my situation that airline hirings come and go and I needed to be in my best skin every time they come here in the Philippines. I didn’t even go to some openings because I can see my skin is still not in the best shape. She never empathized with me even blaming me that I did this to my skin. As if she is god that she cannot do mistakes in her works. She also gaslights me that my skin is flatter now compared to before. And I was like, I won’t be stressing about my skin and be unhappy if the results were good from before. I swear, I don’t know if she is blind or what.
I have consulted with other dermas who saw my botched skin and they said procedures can already be done to resurface the skin and 3 months is enough for healing and waiting already.
What can I do now that I can’t seem to talk to my derma in a civil way anymore for her to fix my skin caused by her procedure. Can I sue her? At this point, I don’t want her touching my face anymore but I can’t let it go that she doesn’t care about her clients whom went to her to have a better skin but gave the worst outcome. If this happened to me, maybe it will happen to other people.
