In many ways, Dr. Schreber is the true hero of this story. Giving John Murdoch a lifetime of memories/practice in a vial was the action that allowed John to defeat the aliens at the end. The aliens kept the doctor weak, didn't even allow him to keep his own memories, yet he still risked his life to help John. I always wonder if the alien messed up when he mentioned that it took lifetimes to master tuning.

If you look at the heads of the Strangers, you can see each one has a crack or scar on it, showing where the actual Strangers crawled into the corpse to take control of it. Very creepy!

I think the 1st Tim Burton Batman film or "Metropolis" were major influences on this movie, Gothic atmosphere and production design-wise. Those two movies had these weird surreal cities and "Dark City" made it more nightmarish.

So much of this film is a give away about the real nature of this world. It is not what it appears to be. Memories have been altered. Study the Mandela effect , memories don't match the past. The world does not make sense.
